    The biggest difference aside from color is that with IR the cameras are more discrete. The ColorVu require light to work and that on camera light says "Hey, here's a camera!" A $1 face mask will defeat the most expensive camera, so you have to decide do you want your camera to be discrete or announced. If the latter, expect it to be destroyed.

    You say you recommend fitting SD. Cards …. Any recommendations on specific SD Cards ? I assume surveillance quality such as WD Purple ?
    Also, how often should they be replaced as they will be hammered especially the smaller card sizes ?

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes we do , it gives another layer of protection in the worst case, WD Purple work really well , but HIK also have there own range, but we have tested several Class 10 Video grade SD cards and they work well , sandisk extreme are fantastic for this 😊

    How to secure communication between the IP Cams, and the Win-32 bit client iVMS over TCP when using NAS/CIFS (SMB) to get a centralized recording location for all IP Cams, instead of depending on SD cards only ? Is there any way to encrypt such communication ? (as these are insecure protocols/services by nature). How would that be possible ?

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes its not that easy we do offer encryption on the SD cards as well as the video , but you can only do so much with the transportation side of it , there working on a new solution to this

    Highly confused, could you not have the white light turn on with the existing acusense via an event. I know you can set it to stay on for upto 60 seconds, also triggering the camera into day.

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have the Acusense SL model then yes the white light can come on via the event , if you don’t have the SL model , there is firmware now on the ColorVu model that can turn the white light on upon event , which I mentioned on the Video.

    Question, as the camera IP and I am assuming it is using POE, just where does the camera derive it's power to record on the SD card in the scenarios you mentioned, such as an NVR failure or theft of the NVR ?

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes its on the NVR POE , so the limitation would be if the NVR is stolen or fails , the camera stops, BUT if the NVR is stolen which is more frequent than you would imagine, the cameras with SD card could still hold valuable images up to the removal of the NVR , which you would of lost otherwise.

    • @oyleyhands1332
      @oyleyhands1332 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DVSLTD I was thinking that would be the case, I did not know if the camera had a small power reserve allowing a few minutes of onboard SD card recording.

      @@DVSLTD Great video as usual. The answer to NVR theft on your high-end jobs is a decoy. Get an old busted/for parts NVR that powers up and put it in an obvious place with a sticker on it that says NVR. Hide the real one (I like drop ceiling in commercial jobs). Having an electrician put a receptacle above the drop ceiling meets code (in the US at least).

    • @xebedee0001
      @xebedee0001 ปีที่แล้ว

      An option is to add a PoE switch (in a different location to the NVR) and connect the cameras to that. If the NVR fails or is stolen the PoE will still power the camera and it can store to the SD card.

    Quick question, just about to have some cameras fit. Should I go for the best camera I can afford straight away for example 8mp clourvu / acusense or would I be ok with 4mp colourvu only. The cameras are for front and rear of house. I suppose the question really is 8mp or 4mp

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well for me if you can afford the 8MP then I would of course say to do so , it will last longer tech wise and you will be very happy with the results , but if 4MP is your budget then don’t worry the results will still be very good 😊

    • @DVSLTD
      @DVSLTD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@darrenrushworth9622 Yes the NVR would support both cameras at 8MP , the setup can be done on the camera specifically so all good 😊

      @dvstechnical3586 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neil. For the camera featured in this video, you can see that at end of the model number the information shows that the camera has a built in speaker and microphone.
      You would be able to get two way audio for this camera. ISU/SL: I - IR S - Speaker U - Microphone / SL - Strobe light and audio alarm. These apply to all Hikvision IP cameras.
      Hope this helps!
