A football legend and also a seriously decent individual , who has brought pleasure to many through his chosen sport and latterly much needed help to others through his charity work .

I’ve always admired Luther Blissett ten times more than John Barns. Barns always goes on about racism but Luther never does. Thank you Luther for giving us Watford fans the best days of our lives. I wouldn’t swap that for the world.
When Liam Neeson was getting slated and possibly cancelled for admitting he had racist views and ideas in the past on a radio program, it was John Barnes more than anyone who called out all the race baiting.
@@NoLefTurnUnStoned. quite agree, as a Watford supporter I always admired John Barns as well as Luther Blissett, but once I realised John Barns became more or less a spokesman for racism then my view on Barns changed forever. I can not stand the bloke now. But Luther Blissett can keep his head held high for his contribution towards this country, Luther Blissett being the first black gentleman to score for the England team is well beyond what Barns achieved. I hope John Barns and Luther Blissett reads this comment. I don’t like calling anybody Sir but there is an exception for Luther Blissett. Luther Blissett is my top best player for many reasons not just on the pitch.

Strange seeing Luther with grey hair, he was a legend along with Ross Jenkins and John Barnes. Great memories
Humble, honest, intelligent and funny and not a mention of the R word in the interview. When football was about winning for the right reasons. Congratulation Luther for creating and then grabbing with both hands your hard earned moment in life.

I remember watching Luther as a kid and I don’t remember ANYONE having anything but respect for him even though black players were more unusual back then.

A few more than 5 black players in the 70s. As well as the 5 he mentioned there was Viv Anderson, Cyrille Regis, Cliff Marshall to name just 3. I’m sure there were a couple more too.
