If the entire team takes a knee before every game, then it forces every viewer to think about racism in football. It's the job of the manager and players in press conferences to explain the symbolism of the protest, and disassociate it from politically controversial organisations

The 'Kick It Out' campaign has been going on for a number of years now and it's well-liked and respected.
The taking of the knee should never be done at football matches because it's viewed as a political stance.
In my opinion the fans have the right (and are right) to boo it. It has no place on a football pitch.

There is nothing wrong with "making a gesture" but the bottom line is that kneeling is the wrong gesture. It carries too much baggage with it and I don't understand why Southgate and others don't see that. One idea I read would be to release balloons before the match celebrating equality and diversity. Make the statement if you must but be creative about it. I will watch less and less football while this continues and I am not the only one.
