Lovely plant you've got there, my fav actually. I was wondering if you could do an update video on it by chance. Thanks for sharing it w/the plant community.🙏
Yes, thanks. That pot is too big for the plant really but it was already in the space where I wanted the plant and it lifts it up to a nice height at the moment, it doesn't need anywhere near that big but for now it's useful. :-)
Hey, so did you actually acclimatize it to bright light and it got its leaves burnt? I mean does this come from your own experience with the plant, or is it what everybody says? I live in a very sunny country with very high summer temperatures and most of my tropical plants go outside and get a couple of hours of direct sunlight during that time of the year. If they are gradually acclimatized to this, none of them ever burn their leaves, even though they're plants that everyone cautions against this. I mean monsteras, epipremnum, alocasia amazonica, aglaonema, only calatheas really don't want to be anywhere near actual bright light. I just got this philodendron, the sun is already hitting it for half an hour through the window and it's fine, so I wouldn't want to leave it into a spot that is not bright if what has worked with so many other plants I had is still valid.
Hi, I have silver sword philodendron for about a year but I have a problem with it. Every time when it is growing new leafs the bottom leafs are turning yellow and die. I tried feeding it a bit more but it didn't help. I keep it under grow light but the light is not strong. I may be watering it not enough but the leaves are not drying out they just go juicy yellow and fall off. I am wondering what I can do to help my plant? I would really appreciate an advice cos I really love my silver sword it is growing beautiful arrow shaped leafs but it looks quite bold and sad at the bottom 😢.
I'm not 100% sure but often when leaves from the botom go yellow and fall off this is a natural cycle of the leaves as the plant grows upwards. This might be just the nature of this plant, I haven't had mine for long enough to be sure but this could be the reason. Andy
Humidifiers are definitely a better way if you have the money, space and don't mind looking at one in your living space, you will get the best results for sure. Misting is not a myth, I have done experiments of my own in previous videos that you can watch, it does raise humidity levels around the plant but only by small amounts and the main issue is that the small amount of water evaporates within 30 minutes or so and once the plant dries out again all the benefits are gone so it has a very limited benefit unless you can mist/spray down the plant multiple times a day, which some growers do but at home it's not really practical. Pebble trays have the same limitation although take longer to evaporate so the slight benefit lasts longer, keeping several of your plants together can also help but if you live in a very dry air environment (air -con) then it may well not be enough of a change and a humidifier will be the only thing that makes enough difference.
Mr. Mouse I'm confused. About what? Well, Andy brought that silver sword out and it reminded me of the shield's the natives had when they come running out of the jungle to help Tarzan but they never showed up. Um .... What if Tarzan's really in trouble? You do know that that's just a show on TV and not real right? Oh no Mr. Mouse comments like that will get you run over by stampeding elephants that come to help Tarzan, you better watch it. Oh, ok.🐘🐘🐘 🐀🙄
One of my favorite philodendron for sure

Thanks for the care tips. I see you when you a few sizes did you fill the entire planter with soil? Happy growing and stay safe.

Sounds like overwatering, make sure to only water when the soil is mostly dry
Apparently misting to increase humidity is a myth. Also pebble trays are considered a dubious was of increasing humidity. Humidifier all the way.
