It's a big help if you learn to do small wheelies first and also to compress the suspension to help loft the front end, but your wife deserves a lot of credit for getting over the fear of trying to cross such a large obstacle over and over, I've seen people many times just stop just before the log from fear, she has conquered the most difficult part the rest will fall right into place with practice.

Nice. I prefer to get the front tire over, then use the rear tire to saw the the log in half. It makes it easier to pass on each successive lap. 😂

Cool video. Log crossings are no joke when you first start out. Being able to pull a wheelie on command is super helpful and you can always clear the front tire. But your right about the bigger bikes, they are heavy. My xr650l gave me one heck of a workout on a bad trail with tons of blow downs.

    Great video, thanks for posting.
What I've learned from log crossing, and perhaps this goes for riding in general, is maintaining confidence and control when encountering obstacles. If you allow an obstacle to psych you out before you even cross it, you will fail. Once you understand the technique, the only thing stopping you is yourself.
I've hit the same tree 3 times at one specific track I ride because I allow the log crossing right before that tree to psych me out. It's a smaller log, but it's over a tight track directly before a sharp turn with a thick oak right across from it. Inevitably I would fumble the crossing and go directly into the tree. Those three times I hit the tree, all I was thinking about was the tree, and not the log.
I have since mastered that section. I still have troubles with larger logs like the ones in the video sometimes, usually because I don't concentrate on the technique before crossing, but rather about not falling and messing it up. Therefore I mess it up.
Riding really is a brain game.

She's a keeper! My wife would never try anything that gets either wheel off the ground.

    Ok, I have subscribed.
Love seeing the XR enduro races you win (03 BPR here), but also your interaction with you both as a couple. Noice! Keep at it! 👍

That girls fearless, just ramming the log like that!
Teach some clutch technique and coach her using her body to give the bike some input and she'll be launching that thing

On a wr250f I punch the front wheel 3/4 up the log with a small wheelie then give it some juice but you must have some momentum cause the bike doesn’t have the torque.
    You go girl!

I will say I have a 650R and its setup for someone at least 6'6 because me at 6'1 on my toes can touch great for logs doesn't belly out like most bikes and even standard height
