yeah, they jump the sharks when they tried to jump in on the PC bandwagon and that was a disaster. interesting trivia. Atari had a legal hissy fit over the 2600 Adapter that you can play Atari 2600 games on the colecovision.
Loved the video. My first console was the ColecoVision and I still play on it today. My latest addition to the console is the 'Super Game Module' that opens a hole new world of games for the system. I recomend it highly.
I have one complete in box. I have about 30 games for it. Bought it at a flea market about 8 years ago for $100 for everything. It still works perfectly.
I loved the Colecovision as a little kid. Zaxxon, Pepper II (though the music terrified me), Montezuma's Revenge, Donkey Kong, BC's Quest, Squish'em Sam, Jumpman Jr, and...oh, I can't remember the name of the one '3D' platformer that clearly inspired by Donkey Kong. I have fond memories of all of those games as a kid.
Expected to see Cosmic Avenger on the list, and Turbo in the honourable mentions. Such a glorious console - and you could play Atari 2600 cartridges on it too!
#1 Turbo with the steering wheel & gas pedal and shifter, so much fun for its time. Had the coleco battery pack for it, had 4 fake batteries with a plug in charger hooked to one of the batteries, never needed batteries.
LOL, I had the Coleco Battery Eliminator to power my Expansion Module #2, as well. I still have the module, and even Super Controllers, the Roller Controller with Slither, and the AtGames Colecovision Flashback. Absolutely a BLAST back in the day.
Great list! Brings back memories from my childhood. Was hoping to see Jumpman Junior on the list. It was my favorite, and spent many hours playing that as a kid.
Everyone's got their own tastes, but for me I think the Top 3 were Lady Bug, Cosmic Avenger, and Turbo, in that order. Lady Bug was extremely colourful, with lots of bonuses as well as the flipping doors, whilst Cosmic Avenger and Turbo were, at least for me, adventurist, with you taking a long journey through loads of different landscapes to get to your destinations. If I remember right, Cosmic Avenger even had you travelling underwater at some points!
Gezz... Of the original ganes released, there are so many great ones, some that weren't shown, but some of my all-time favorites are... Bump n Jump... Temple of Asphai... Lady Bug... Montezuna's Revenge... River Raid... Time Pilot... Star Trek... Spy Hunter... Venture... & Jumpman Jr.
You forgot Q*Bert and Frogger; 2 excellent ports on the Colecovision. Wargames was a great game though. I thought of it as like Missile Command taken to the next level. I preferred the bad ending in that game.
Some of my favs are: Q*Bert Ladybug Frogger Montezuma's Revenge Venture Buck Rodgers Planet of Zoom Cabbage Patch Kids Adventure in the Park Smurfs Rescue at Gargamel's Castle Turbo Bump and Jump
My list is similar to yours with a few substitutions: 10. Pepper II 9. Zaxxon 8. Carnival 7. Looping 6. Frenzy 5. Super Cobra 4. Decathalon 3. Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Jr 2. Venture 1. Miner 2049er Honourable Mentions: Mouse Trap Turbo Q*Bert Time Pilot Mr .Do Jungle Hunt
The Colecovision was kind of like the Dreamcast of its generation. Powerful hardware, excellent arcade conversions, a bunch of unique titles with cult followings, unique and interesting peripherals, and could even run some games meant for other consoles (Bleem for Dreamcast, the Atari 2600 Expansion Box for Colecovision) -- but it was unfortunately sandwiched between two console generations and couldn't compete effectively with either. Also just like how Microsoft stole the best ideas from the Dreamcast to build the original Xbox, Microsoft stole the hardware specs from the Colecovision to build the MSX standard.
I was actually REALLY disappointed by Colecovision Zaxxon. The turrets NOT having gun barrels was not cool. I thought the sound on it was TERRIBLE. The explosions sounded more like slamming doors. Never played Wargames. I'd add Mr Do and Looping. Maybe Time Pilot, it was a pretty good port. Frenzy was GREAT, and so we're Ladybug and Cosmic Avenger.
They omitted one girder. They also omitted the fireball on the barrel level. If you fell from a girder you did not die. The hammer simply made you invincible instead of just smashing the barrels. No springs on the elevator level and no pie factory. This game was very rushed and incomplete imo
Coleco stands for Connecticut leather company, as they started out as a shoe material supplier in 1932
Interesting trivia
Just like Tandy, leather and computers just naturally go together!
I'm almost 51, I remember all of these games! Excellent video! Cheers from Detroit!
This console deserved an even better run than it had, and it definitely deserved a better legacy.

Good list, it's deviating from the standard games. My list would definitely include H.E.R.O. though, I still play that on my ColecoVision.
Best version of H.E.R.O.

The 3D platformer is Congo Bongo, very well done on the ColecoVision.

Lady Bug was a system seller. A fabulous if obscure game is Oil’s Well.

Just look how beautiful the graphics are on each of these games.
0:02 PC-98, of course that started so many new genres and game franchises.
My favorite Colecovision games were Squish 'em and Smurfs. I didn't own a console but the local rec center had one.
Gezz... Of the original ganes released, there are so many great ones, some that weren't shown, but some of my all-time favorites are... Bump n Jump... Temple of Asphai... Lady Bug... Montezuna's Revenge... River Raid... Time Pilot... Star Trek... Spy Hunter... Venture... & Jumpman Jr.

Montezuma's Revenge is definitely on my top list. Honorable mention to Super Action Soccer.
A interesting look back into history. I had a Colecovision back in the day. I'm actually hoping to pick one up on eBay.
Well done.
Subbed.
Donkey Kong and Buck Rogers were the only games I had for Colecovision. It was a fun starter system.
GORF and War Games were unbelievable games.

Q*Bert
Ladybug
Frogger
Montezuma's Revenge
Venture
Buck Rodgers Planet of Zoom
Cabbage Patch Kids Adventure in the Park
Smurfs Rescue at Gargamel's Castle
Turbo
Bump and Jump
the best games i used to play as a kid on colecovision was Smurfs, Venture, Jungle Hunt and River Raid

Popeye!!! Loved that game... I need to play this again

Never played Wargames.
I'd add Mr Do and Looping. Maybe Time Pilot, it was a pretty good port.
Frenzy was GREAT, and so we're Ladybug and Cosmic Avenger.
Would have been nice to hear the sound effects for each game but, other than that, good video overall.
Loved this thanks. But that 84star wars still gives me shudders. The perspective still is disturbing.
Good list, did you get your daughter to say the numbers on the list?
Lady bug clearly the #1.
No Planet of Zoom or Gyruss?
I must voice a disagreement I believe ladybug is better than mousetrap.
On a different note, do you have the collectorvision Phoenix?
No Turbo!
Honorable mentions >>> top 10
What, no Jumpman Junior?!
No Tarzan or Mr. Do! on this list? Not even as a runner up... WTF?!
Do you repair or know someone who repairs colecovision systems? I have one that needs repair.
Because serving kids soda instead of serving adults alcohol is soooo much better?😪
👏🏻😀
I like this video, but the robotic voice that announces the game name needs to be removed.
Wrong it was intellivison
Donkey Kong was better on the Atari 800.
WAAAAYYY better. Coleco DK was terrible. Jr wasn't bad tho
Donkey Kong was backwards. He should have been to the left not to the right.
They omitted one girder. They also omitted the fireball on the barrel level. If you fell from a girder you did not die. The hammer simply made you invincible instead of just smashing the barrels. No springs on the elevator level and no pie factory. This game was very rushed and incomplete imo
