I have tested the Bike and all I can say is, great work from Yamaha. You don't need much time in order to cope with the system, personally it took me about 10-15 minutes. It is so much fun when the rider has the option to change gears with two buttons, so much faster than with lever on foot. Loved it!
The point of MT-09 is, definitely, to pull wheelies. I mean, brutal engine, short wheelbase... Probably the less interesting application of AMT to come. I'd rather have an option to disconnect rear ABS on mine (it severely impairs the bike's braking capability, honestly).
Yamaha hasn't had any motorcycles available in Turkey for 5 years, and unofficial sales are constantly taking place, causing real customers to be victimized. I hope we can find this motorcycle at the dealership
As someone that has heard great things about the normal MT-09 and been recommended it and is thinking of what motorcycle to get, this seems like a great option to get into it especially with living within a city with lots of starts and stops for cars, I’d imagine finding it very tricky in the beginning riding a motorcycle. Thanks Yamaha for making it more accessible for more people
Totally get it! The MT-09 Y-AMT sounds like the right bike for you. Why don't you book a test ride at your local dealer and let us know. Glad to hear you're excited about it!
Having owned one. I could absolutely FIRE this bike off the line in a street race. I wonder if the automatic can hop off the line and find its power the same way as a engine thats being revved out with the clutch slipped just right. Id really need to try this automatic to form my own opinion.
The Y-AMT system is designed to elevate the sport riding experience. Debuting on the MT-09, known for its sharp handling, it enhances cornering performance and lets riders fully enjoy Yamaha’s signature handling.
Thanks for your interest in the MT-09 SP! Currently, we don't plan to feature Y-AMT on this model as it's designed for track use and we aim to avoid adding extra weight. However, we’re constantly developing and improving our technology. Stay tuned for exciting future updates!
Thanks for the suggestion! Currently, there are no plans to feature Y-AMT on the Ténéré 700. We aim to keep this model as simple and pure as possible, and weight is a crucial factor for its off-road capabilities. The Y-AMT, though lightweight at 2.8 kg, could affect this balance. We appreciate your enthusiasm and are always looking to improve our offerings, so stay tuned for future developments!
@@yamahamotoreu This is the second ridiculous excuse of why it's not in a bike. Why isn't Yamaha installing lithium batteries if Yamaha's so concerned about weight and 2.8kgs? And for your other comment about the SP being designed for the track and why it's not considered for AMT, it has a keyless fob!? Now where exactly are you holding that in a race suit. Clearly, real-life experiences aren't aligning with the sales and marketing nonsense.
Impressive technology, but why introduce it on a hooligan bike like the MT-09? Seems odd as I would think this would be more applicable to the Tracer for touring. My hope is you don't think we ALL want an automatic. Please offer this as an option rather than replacing the manual transmissions, and the traditional clutch lever and foot shifter. I respectfully disagree that this technology will make anyone more "one" with the bike. I believe it will do the opposite, it will disconnect the rider from what is going on and make them more of a passive participant in the riding experience :(
After riding and loving the automatic DCT Honda NC750X, I am definitely interested in this! I currently ride the XSR900 and LOVE the quickshifter but I still have to use the clutch lever a lot with low speed, stop/start, city traffic. And I get tendonitis in my hands easily. But I'm curious whether this Yamaha AMT allows you to revbomb the engine when in gear? You can't with Honda's DCT, only in neutral which kinda sucks.
I love it. I will happily buy auto bikes. I want this option on all motorcycles. Auto MT09 or MT10 could seriously lure me away from the Ducati 1260S I want as my second bike.
So basically the same button shifting like those in Honda's DCT but without a DCT? I'd rather have the new Honda's auto clutch/E-clutch where you can still use the clutch and shift like normal BUT also a way to choose whenever I want to ride a little easier without the clutch at some point (e.g traffics, or moments where I ride with my friends and wanted to capture a short video of us). And I think without the clutch on a powerful series like this MT09, it'll be less fun.
