    Nice to meet you! This is my first time here.
    My name is Tomyang.
    I live in Nagasaki, Kyushu, Japan.
    I ride a YAMAHA BOLT and have created a channel to showcase the local attractions to the world.
    I searched for TH-camrs riding BOLT in its home country, the USA, and I found it.
    It's simple and easy to ride! Even in compact Japan, whether it's in the city, mountains, or up slopes, you can go anywhere.😀😀😀

    I have 30K miles on my 2020 R-spec. I love it. It's super easy to maintain. I can change the oil, plugs, air filter, and brake pads with basic tools in a little over an hour. The bike isn't great at one particular thing, but it's pretty good at everything.

    My very favorite bike that I wish I still had was a 1990 Yamaha Virago 1100. Someone here in San Diego made some forward controls for it and it was perfect for me. I was in the bike instead of on top, like a jokey. The tank and engine blocked the wind and a small screen on the bars blocked wind to my face, sweet bike. Thanks for the fun vid.

  • @AGPullen

    I had a 2016 R-spec that I got brand new for a few years and I loved it! I'm a little big for it but it was such a great bike! I added all the Yamaha goodies like the higher bars with extended cables, grips, sissy bar, passenger seat/pegs, cowl, flipped the mirrors under the bars with a kit, and added a Vance & Hines intake and comp exhaust so it sounded fantastic! The only reason I sold it was to buy my 4x4 truck and keep my FZ-09. I always recommend the Bolt to people looking for a cruiser of this class!

    Love my 14 R-Spec! It is my first bike and man has it been a real winner. Suspension was really stiff from previous owner. Adjusted the preload and did wonders. Not crazy power but it’s enough to be fun on back roads and no problem passing 99% of cars. Hwy is a little much bc of there being zero windshield on it but it’ll cruise 85mph all day. Have a full Vance and Hines exhaust system and she screams. I get way more compliments on it than I ever thought. I figured I’d just get a lot of hate for it “not being a Harley”. Overall Im more than impressed with my purchase. Fully recommend.

I had about 10 hours of classes on a 650cc Kawasaki (forgot the model, naked bike) and rode a 125cc for a couple of months. The Honda Rebel 500 is kinda 'meh'. Very lukewarm. Honda Shadow. Low, power where you want it, smooth ride. Fairly capable handling. Tho i suppose newer models may vary. 3rd bike i ever rode was a late 90s vt1100 shadow. Extremely manageable power but plenty to pass cars etc with. Personally i really dont like forward controls though, and the handlebars are very hit n miss with people. If youre not real tall, my 82 virago has mono shock rear suspension, fairly low, dirt cheap very reliable and mid controls. If i were shorter itd be near perfect

      Got my first bike a few weeks ago -- a 2018 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec
      I love it! Power was quick to get used to. Mind you, it had been a whole year since I had ridden a bike (during the MSF course) Practiced riding for 20-30 minutes, and I rode home. Great looking bike. Plenty of power. Highly recommend it!

      Bolt 100%. I had a Suzuki Boulevard Sv650 as my very first motorcycle. Worthless buy. Got rid of that thing after 4 months of barely riding around the neighborhood. The bolt is forgiving and has plenty of power to grow into. Plus you can basically mod it to whatever style you like. Best first bike for cruiser enthusiasts.

      My Bolt has no ABS and that's the way I will keep any bike I ride.
      A quick pulsing of the brake lever does the same function if I need to stop a lock up when braking quick. .... Remember Greg's repeated " Squeeze...... " ya pulsing the brake lever is analogous to the ABS action as your squeezing intensifies..... Maybe Greg can do an in-depth practice for this method of stopping quickly ?

      This was my 1st bike. Still own it as my 2nd bike. The Bolt's mid controls, low seat height, and manageable power is great for beginners. Two issues for beginners 1) weight makes it CRITICAL to get the handlebars straight while stopping 2) It does not come with ABS, so practicing emergency braking is critical. Panic braking on the rear brake locks the wheel quickly.

    • @Justin-tp3lr
      @Justin-tp3lr ปีที่แล้ว

      @Andrew-nh5zg thank you for the response. I'm 6'1" and around 185 pounds. I'm looking at this bike along with the kawasaki vulcan s and the honda rebel 1100 with its lightweight (487 lbs) and low seat hight it can work, I have rode some but never on the road

    • @Andrew-nh5zg
      @Andrew-nh5zg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Justin-tp3lr Luckily for you 6'1" means you can flat foot A LOT of bikes, which does help when learning.
      As far as the Vulcan, Bolt, Rebel choices, this is a bit of a dilemma for me. In general, I personally prefer mid controls because of my shorter height. In fact, my current bike is a Concours14 and I tend to prefer the naked sport, sport tours and ADV's for that reason.
      However, at your height of 6'1" you may find the forward controls on the Vulcan S more comfortable. There's a reason why Harley's use forward controls and low seat heights. Low seat make the bikes easier to ride, but they need the forward controls for tall rider comfort.

    Over the years I’ve witnessed most Bike Manufacturers gradually upping the engine specs of each model. Obviously…..this is “dangling the Carrot” to tempt buyers into purchasing the ‘latest and greatest version available, often at the expense of a ‘former’ model being an excellent bike. In keeping with this I’ve been waiting for Yamaha to make the ‘1300cc Yamaha Bolt cruiser. The 950cc Bolt is a great Learners bike but needs just that bit more ‘grunt’ while retaining that lovely ‘Cruiser styling’ they got right with the 950 Bolt.

      If you're willing to invest some aftermarket parts to help the bike fit you better. At 6ft I was pretty uncomfortable until I got taller handelbars, forward foot controls, and taller sitting seat. The rear suspension is rough, but after spending money on other mods to make the bike comfortable I didn't feel like spending any more for suspension. Ended up selling to get an Mt09 and could ride much further distances than i'd dare with the bolt haha
