For real! If they were I wouldn’t be changing into a new set after one season. Regardless of that part, they also didn’t do anything with grips, lie, and length. I called and had my grips changed before the build started, so atleast I avoided that and obviously lie angles are easily changed, but I really needed my irons 1/4-1/2” longer
I had a fitting with someone swinging 7 iron 104-106mph yesterday. Certainly impressive to see someone hitting 7iron 204-210 meters and hitting 5wood 300 meters with ease. He hit a couple of drivers over 340meters at sea level in Cape Town! Really enjoy the fittings. I do fittings everyday, but still feel that I learn from different fittings as well. Not every day we see someone with this amiunt of speed.
So nice to see somebody get fit with this type of speed. I’m in the same club head speed range and typically when I go into a fit most people don’t carry what I need.
@@Bech285 lol nah I live in a good spot. I just remember before I learned everything I know now going to the big box stores and none of them carried what I needed.
@@therealad4342 I fit at a big box store and we had everything from game improvement to blades, lite to xtra stiff shafts. I will admit we didn't have every shaft for every head. I wish we had the universal adapters like they do on this channel. Taylormade and company only want to provide so many fitting shafts...
Enjoyed it! It seems for some younger guys especially that having a higher swing speed with poor fitting clubs (irons especially) actually makes shots worse. That speed becomes a liability instead of an asset!
Ian if you want to do another follower fitting- I am interested in seeing if there's something out there that can beat the Mc501 fitting you did for me 4 years ago. Still an okay player and the subscribers may enjoy it.
15-18hcp here. Tried to replocate this speed. Managed 134ball speed with my 6 iron 5500rpm spin 194yards carry. Impresive fit guys well done again 👏 Impressive golfer 🏌️♂️ 👏 Should get him back for a driver fit
Loved seeing this! As a higher speed guy myself getting into the iron market this gave me some interesting things to think about and echoed some internal thoughts Ive had. I need some forgiveness (I miss toe a lot as well) but I don’t need help with height or distance. I’ve felt that my misses are accentuated by my current set (somewhat forgiving iron) bc the ball can hang in the air so long. I think I understood yall to be trying to avoid this situation during this fit? Are there other irons you’d have considered testing him in? I was leaning towards Mizuno 245s but not wondering if I should stray away from those?
Interesting video, i play the Apex/pro combo's and love them. Recently though have gained a tonne of speed through compression. 7 iron was around 160m but now at 175m. I'm not sure if i need to look at changing shafts (True Temper xp 95s) or maybe a complete new set🤷♂️
If you guys ever come to one of the Ohio locations please give me a shout. My 7 iron swing speed cruises at 99-102 mph. I currently play a combo set of blades and cavities but have not been truly fit. If I dont impress I will guarantee that I’ll buy the set that I’d recommended to me from your shop.
Have my fitting scheduled this Friday and am somewhat near these speeds (about 5-7mph less club speed), but I’m a much higher handicap. It’s still interesting to see what you guys identify as potential cause/effects of inconsistent flights at this speed. Curious to see what different shaft/head combos might be able to help me reduce dispersion.
I've cracked the face on about 8 drivers in the last 15 years. I only swing about 110mph, but hit lots of range balls. always crack in the same place, high of center, horizontal across the face
Long time viewer. I am curious. Can you advise, why for such a strong swing speed guy, that you moved to a loft setting to 29 degrees? Where the standard, maybe old, Men's loft for a 6 iron is 31 degrees. And yes, I know the Titleist manufacture sets the T100 game improvement clubs loft, at sale, at 30 degrees. Interesting the Calloway Apex 19 6 iron has a loft setting of 26.5 degrees. I do understand and appreciate you adjusted the lie to address his toe down nature. Thanks
Over the last 5 years I’ve been fit 3 times. Never have I had a fitter go into such detail and put in this level of work. I’ve recently felt like I’ll never get fit again and just buy clubs I try at my local store. From my recent experiences it’s the same thing and costs much less. These lazy fitters are hurting the community and the bottom line of this business.
Once you watch a channel like this and are self educated most fitting are going to seem low info/energy. As you say if you have a local store with a hitting bay you can just try stuff and if you know what numbers to look for for yourself.
Great video. Would love to see someone like my son. He’s 16 years old, 0.5 hdcp, has similar speed to Andre, but my son spins it too much. AOA around -3.5 degrees, so definitely not steep. 6 irons spin 8,000. His fitter got him in a Oban CT 125 and a P770 head to try to reduce the spin. Not entirely successful judging by his last driving range session.
What ball is he playing? I’m higher swing speed. Was tinkering with the AVX but recently moved into the ProV1x Left Dash and so far it’s been a much better fit.
Those 4-5* toe down strikes 😬 even at 2 degrees the strikes don’t feel nearly as pure as zeroed out. I’d tell him to slow down and figure that out. Probably just getting hands lower at impact. It brings in another variable that lowers consistency of strike with each club and trajectory among all the clubs. I don’t know if it’s a case of just changing the lie angle on the clubs to toe up but maybe. The club face gets more twitchy the more upright you make it. He may start snap hooking it.
Just curious what swing weight the final build was with his speed. I was recently fit by an OEM and they didn't calculate for grip change and the weight was C1. 97mph 7i so I'm very curious what you guys think about swing weight. Great video!
Why would you want to have a 6 iron with 150mph ball speed? Golf is a control game, being able to replicate and be consistent. Super high speeds with irons does not necessarily translate to lower scores.
@mattmoore9790 Yes i know. Im fast. Can cruise in the 140s. But 150s feel better to me. And its builing speed. Im more accurate with 6 iron from 220. Than a wood or rescue.
Hopefully yall gave him the cobra king tour to try out since they match up very well with the t100 but typical provide a better result off the toe area.
I think as they mentioned toward the end, they are about getting the player to the right numbers before they get fatigued. after doing hundreds of fits a year thy will have go to heads that are getting them there quicker each year. It just shows how hard fought for peoples custom clubs companies have to work. I would guess the average non club nerd also want buy a brand they have some interest in. If you walked in and say look I relalu like strixon, muira and mizuno, thy would say, ok lets see what works for you from them. I (guess again) the average guy wants to walk out with a titlist, calloway or taylormade.
Curious your choice of club heads ? T100, p7cb and MP243. So these club heads are different from each other. Imo not a direct comparison from each brand. Is there a reason for this decision that you would like to share ?
I hit all three at a recent fitting. I went with the T100. I consider all three to be quite similar. The T100 is noticeably smaller with a thinner topline, but all three have a forged face, similar lofts, with tungsten weighting to assist with ball flight and he off center hits. Which one do you think doesn't belong here?
Another great video. But honestly it’s hard for me to relate to this. At 68 and a slow swing speed not sure a club fitting would help me. But I enjoy listening to you knowledge of the golf swing data
They have tons of vids fitting higher handicap and older players. This is actually a rarity for them and nice to see as a better player who has speed. Every video can’t be for every viewer.
Getting the right shaft on the right clubhead can benefit everyone who plays golf no matter the swing speed. It's certainly worth the time if you're going to purchase new irons. Even if you're buying something used, it would help to know what kind of shaft weight and flex you need.
depends how old your current irons are. If you're still playing steel shafts, just trying graphite might be an eye opener (it was for me at age 56 - I never did a fitting until this channel inspired me to try it).
Jeff, if you have not done so already, search the club champion channel videos for fittings with Ronnie. I forget exactly how old Ronnie is but he is in his late 60s or early 70s I think and his swing speed is very relatable for a senior golfer. Ian has done at least 12 videos with Ronnie on the channel over the years.
Because you can correct that with lie angle and the shaft as they showed in the video. How in the world is someone going to gauge .25 of an inch in setup with any consistency? Much easier to adjust the equipment so it fits the golfers natural ability.
if it was no causing a serious problem, asking a person to do that can mess with their swing during the fit and mess things up, they club they optimized were still the best, he can now take them and trying to move strike over time if he wishes.
Just for clarification, t100 irons are $200/club. A 7 club set would be $1400. That shaft is a stock option so no up charge. Factor in tax and shipping it would be well under $3000. If someone sold you a set for $3000, they robbed you blind
@@ryanwalters694 that is not how it works when you buy clubs from club champion, @cheese4nhl is correct. For example you pay 200 each for the T100 heads AND you also pay for the shafts and grips separately. Just because Titleist (and other OEMs) offers the club and ("stock") shaft and grip combo for 200 each on their website and in big box stores, that is not how club champion (and some other custom club builders) pricing works. Easily over 2k, and even more if you get suckered into getting the iron shafts Pured.
