  • Don’t Start A Vending Machine Business In 2023! To start a vending business, you will want to listen to my mistakes. Along with some tips to avoid the tough stuff that can come with operating a vending machine business. Vending machine business operators make incredible margins and can have flexible work hours, but it is not all sunshine and rainbows. These machines come with many costs and other maintenance that must be kept. To continue to operate your vending business, don't make these mistakes.
I am excited to share my journey in the vending machine business and one of my new locations at an apartment complex, where I placed a combination vending machine! I did not expect it to do this well, which is one of the keys to vending. Never estimate what a location can or cannot make in a month; it depends, and you would be surprised. Sometimes it's more about how many hours someone sees your machine vs how much foot traffic a location receives.

I'm considering getting into this as a secondary source of income. I'm working as an artist, which gives me a very easy schedule, but little income. I got on TH-cam to look for words of encouragement, and I almost skipped this one (for now) because the title made me think I would feel discouraged. I didn't get that at all. This was a great video, focused on realism as opposed to fat stacks of cash. It reminded me that I won't get rich because I bought one vending machine, but it did so without telling me I'm stupid for considering the idea. Thank you for your insight.

Great video Dominick. My family was in the vending business when I was young with 90 locations, and sold the business when I was a teenager. I've been thinking about starting one myself while I have a dayjob, because I know the machines pretty well (looked up how to add the card processor recently) but my biggest struggle is being able to do the sales development.
I know what my family looked for in a location, I just need to figure out how to find the right person to talk to. Probably just need to take a day to get out there and do a trial by fire day.

Hi Dominick. Thanks for the great content. I'm just starting out and was wondering if you recommend putting in 1 combo machine per location (and selling most popular big brand snacks and drinks) or putting in 2 separate machines (1 snack, 1 drink) in order to offer more choices/variety. Obviously, two machines each with a CC reader means you're shelling out twice as on hardware and recurring fees, whereas with a single combo machine you can save $300-$400 on the reader alone and focus on selling just the biggest and most popular products in your single combo machine. Another concern that I have with 2 separate machines is ... choice overload (30 snacks, 10 drinks to pick from vs 15 snacks, 6 drinks to pick from). What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance!

    • @DominickBarbato

The company is worth 2 million. The company went from 300k to 2 million when Covid happens. Very odd I know.
But they do profit. What they won’t tell you is, you have to big capital to begin and if you’re Serious, you will have to get contracts with stations and airports for a real business.
