@@rusticization Chadwick's acting wasn't the problem with that film. The problem with it was mainly how they structured it, all in seemingly random flashback with very little linear structure. Also, the constant 4th wall breaks and dream-esque sequences were just too much. Another problem was that, through no fault of his own, he just didn't move like James! No one really does, but I've seen people get a lot closer to it than Chadwick did. The film has its good moments, mainly thanks to James' good music and one or two heartfelt scenes, but it's not a good film. Ray was a much better bio-pic, as was La Bamba and Walk the Line(which I think was actually just okay), even The Buddy Holly Story with all of it's inaccuracies, was still a much better film. You have to make the viewer care about the star, relate to him on a personal level, regardless of if they knew who he was already or not. They should not only feel bad for him when he has setbacks or bad experiences, but feel like they ARE him in a way, regardless of how different he is than them.
Its impossible to imitate greatness and come close to the reality of it. James Brown, Prince, Michael jackson, Little Richard, Momma Thorton. 🙏 RIP

Chadwick Boseman embodied James brown. He was the best part about the film. Nelsan Wllis was also fantastic. God bless both of their souls.
