- Ten years ago, on Christmas Day 2006, the Godfather of Soul James Brown died. To mark the anniversary of losing one of the world's most recognized voices, I looked back at the Godfather of Soul's journey through his hometown. This story is a personal tour of memories through the eyes of his daughter, Deanna.
James Brown is and always will be remembered, showing love what a beautiful moment to share. Thank you.
He was a special man. With no formal education, with his determination and hard work he was self-made and brillant. God truly blessed him and he blessed others. Miss you Mr. Brown.

Remembering my first impressions of James Brown 60 years ago: His band was so tight , he did not allow any silly sounds and tune-ups, or ‘sneak preview’ strummings between songs. Later on, in 1962, his show band never stopped. They went from song to song without the usual ‘rest’ in between that every other group needed. When most performers always mumbled something of an introduction to the next tune, James Brown’s show simply modulated into an ‘already known number’. The talented jazz musicians with him always showed their individual talents during an instrumental set before the show. His show put all other rock and pop groups to shame when it came to perfection. I am approaching 80 and still , as a musician, revere James Brown.
Yep! Back in the day everyone knew who James Brown was. Im old school and I just love the funk era with James Brown.
He was so Blessed, one of the best entertainers, in the world. GOD gave him so much knowledge. He is singing for the Lord right now.

A friend of mine told me that she came into an elevator and met up with James Brown. That was at the buena ventura hotel in L.A. I believe she said it had a rotating restaurant. Get this...James
had his female entourage with him and he obviously noticed her big smile. He asked her to join them to some after party. She had to have been so stunned. What came out from her was "I'm a minor!" He quipped back quietly and apologetically "oh!".
She did the right thing. My mom knew her mom.
Thank you for keeping his spirit alive. Loved how he formally asked your mom forgiveness later in his life.
He is missed.

Brown was a legend and his daughter speaks so much the truth it might not being so Cherry all the time and it had it upside down but he love for everyone see we were raised like that in the south our parents told us do good in school respect people and they had to be tough not let people walk all over them I'm the same way now that's what we got to teach our young children you can be tough with words not killing one another and I am black males stop trying to hurt one another getting job stop selling drugs because it's fast money it only leave you in jail and respect your elders and help the young people in your neighborhood and watch it will be a better place cuz James Brown believe in that even though he did his little thing but he still work that hard to pave the way for you because remember Nobody's Perfect jmw South Carolina
