Just started this series myself a few months ago , it was my moms favorite show . I love the 80s so it was great to watch it myself . I’m still in season 1 , it’s great to see where they got inspiration for GTA Vice City , and other movies like Bad Boys .

When Miami Vice came out other networks took note and kinda used their template. Look at the storylines, acting, characters, cars, women, action on how Micheal Mann pushed the envelope for network TV. He shot those episodes like a movie. The series covered Alot of layers were covered with the main cast, influences of society at the times while using Miami as a character too, while they filmed all over the city. When GTA Vice City came out in 2002 we knew exactly what the base of the game was! I still have my copy
the cars, the fashion, the women and the plots is what set this TV serie apart. Also Sonny Crockett choices of guns was pretty unique Bren Ten , later S&W 745 and later S&W 4506 but also detonics and S&W 629 in the boat is what made it special.
Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas will always remain the definitive Crockett & Tubbs. It's kinda tough to replace the charisma these 2 actors had in these roles as you can't imagine anyone else playing the characters.😍😜☺️

I was 11 in 1984 and that Ferrari(ish) Spyder (RIP McBernie Coachcraft) was the coolest car I had ever seen since the Bandit Trans Am. I was hooked from the moment I saw it and watched the show religiously until the show ended. My least favorite episode (when Irish eyes are smiling) when they ‘blew up’ the replica spyder to satiate Ferrari’s lawsuit, even though the original car was spared and it was an extra shell they destroyed on camera, I didn’t know that as a kid and must have cried for an hour after the show! I dried my eyes when I saw the gleaming white Testarossa that Ferrari gave them for filming and it was fun to spot the stunt car vs. the real one in many of the action driving scenes. I will always remember how much that show influenced the things I like to this day and I still own a box set of the entire series! 😂

It came and it went and it can't be done again. It is a blessing to have been alive to witness this truly defining show. So defining that i see it as the very moment the 80s truly started. It hinted towards the Memphis Design Group which created the 80s bright colored and strange shapes of furniture and decors often featured in the series. Along with the reappraisal for the art deco buildings which was also hated by many locals but saved by some brave lady who's name escapes me. Many award winning actors took there first steps into their career when they came on an episode AND the most awesome music of that era gave it an even more time defining character. I watched the series again usually during summer almost every year for the past 12 yrs.... one of my all time favorite tv memories. Cool video.... so great to see the series is still so greatly appreciated by so many people.

Miami Vice got 16-22 year-olds to actually STAY HOME on a Friday night 10pm (ok, we went out at 11...). That says it all really. It was awesome living those years.
You nailed ithat pretty well, Bro.. I was 18 when it first aired, and I still watch it. The only thing I disagree with you is the 2005 movie. I wanted to like it, but those two had no freakin chemistry. Just my opinion. Anuway, I enjoyed your review.👍👍
This was a fantastic and an innovative series which was produced by the great Michael Mann, however once Richard Wolfe took over producing the show it lost some of it’s qualities that made it so interesting. Richard Wolfe made the show run mostly during the night, and therefore the colors that made it so memorable and watchable were not as important as before. I watched every episode (Friday nights on NBC at 10:00 PM EST). Great show.
I STILL watch Miami Vice on one of the STARZ channels every weeknight at 11:00p.m. It is and always will be one of my favorite television shows from the 80’s. Love it.

Miami Vice was a favorite of mine back in the day, but it did start to get bad toward the end. Each season had it's own style with the first and second being the best seasons, then the third being ok, then the 4th was the worst, and the last season had some good moments.
I love them all. What, you don't think a show should evolve? Last couple of seasons had killer soundtracks. My favorite episodes is when Crocket went rogue. Absolutely fantastic all the way through.
Crockett may have been real slick, but Tubbs was far Cooler. Never let his partner down like 'Sonny' did at least 3 times that we can remember~ GOOD REVIEW !!
I liked the Mafioso that was played by Stanley Tucci. I'm pretty sure that character was created because John Gotti was pretty popular in the media at that time. 🤔
I love Miami Vice it's in my top 10 favorite tv shows ever and was groundbreaking in so many areas and helped revive Miami as a tourist destination. My favorite season is the first one and I think it's the strongest one. It would be interesting to see a reboot of this show if it's well done.

I don't play video games but I've heard of GTA. Nice bit of triva H.M. Too many reboots (in my opinion) of classic TV and movies that usually don't turn out well, but if a Miami Vice reboot is produced I hope it's good. How I got into Miami vice, was when I saw a piece of the intro episode. Where sonny's cover was exposed And phill Collin's Song came on. And decided to watch the TV episode and sure did I fell in love with the show.

The Power Station performed "(Get It On) Bang A Gong" in the episode "Whatever Works" and Andy Taylor had his solo track "When The Rain Comes Down" on the episode "Stone's War" and it was TOTALLY turbular!!!
