the system you're talking about is called the neutral bus stop. the interlocks kicks in a few second after you keep the brake pedal applied and the oil pressure is lowered in the transmission while you're in first gear at the stop light. The clutch pack for the first gear start to slip since there's less pressure appling on the plates, that's why you got the impression that you're in neutral.
The interlock system has been there since the 27-000 series. The problem with the interlock is that if the bus halts for a little less than when the interlock kicks in, the driver lets go of the brake pedal and then the interlock kicks in and the bus stops abruptly. However, it helps because you have to apply less force in the brake pedal. By the way, I'm a STM bus driver at CT St-Laurent.
This is probably the fastest that they've improved a model. They improved on the 2008 series with the new economical transmission, 2009 we have the wider front door and more reliable wheelchair ramp. Then they brought us the 3rd gen without the closet in the rear mid season, and now we're seeing a faster ride, new seating, side exterior display. We're going in the right direction for new and high tech. As well as it's pretty comfortable riding them, I'll have to review again a year from now. ;)
I've noticed some drivers like to release the brakes and coast into the intersection just when the light changes so they don't have to wait while the bus gets put back into gear. Lasalle CT got a lot of your 27-5's now. It's too bad, Lasalle was almost half Classic, now it's a lot less. But the 1st gens are atleast almost all gone from Lasalle, and got sent to your garage in exchange. :)
@MrZackattack2010 That's exactly the reason. The 211 is run out of Lasalle and they have the newest buses, and St-Laurent has some of the oldest. Anjou is supposed to get the next new order, so it looks like St-Laurent will be left with the old flammable low floors for the next while.
It's basically the same engine, just new features, such as transmission interlock system. (that whiny sound you hear when the bus stops for more than 10 seconds). It's supposed to save fuel. But it must really wear out the transmission to keep putting it into neutral then force it into drive at every red light and bus stop.
@Tarzanguy247 Yes, it came back in service a few months ago. The person who saw it says that it still smells like smoke, and there is still some smoke damage inside the bus.
the only 29xxx series bus used in the west island is on route 211 i noticed on your site it's service garage was laselle not saint laurent like every other west island route do u think this is the reason
@MrZackattack2010 As soon as I get back on my feet I'll be happy to do some west island fanning, I haven't traveled out west in quite a while. I'm a bit wary of Fairview though, there are a lot of people there that don't appreciate transitfans. Did you get a chance to see some of my west island pics on my gallery? I went riding with a 1983 GM New Look that used to serve the west island back in the day and now a friend of mine has restored it and drives it around every so often.
Anjou i also saw on your site the 225 is out of Anjou are u sure cuz like it's a west island route that runs from fairview to cote vertu durring rush hour it even goes close to stm st laurent garage. speaking of the west island wanna come out do some videos around here i kno some places you'd like
@Tarzanguy247 They're supposed to be graffiti and knife-proof. They're still uncomfortable, and the seat I was sitting on, the back was peeling off it!

The 29-119 just burned this afternoon on st-jacque near angrignion. All the radiator are melted and the glass fiber on the left corner side is burned.

@ktm250sx09 I wonder if the 29-119 is back in service.
It doesn't surprise me, they're pumping these buses out of the factory at an incredible speed, it leaves more room for faults that can occur.
Nova really upped their game!
I'm happy for them, first gen were BS., 2nd was good, but this is awesome.
I heard even the reliability got better?
wow sick hope we have this bus in laval!

Cummins ISL 250HP EPA2007 EDITION Transmission ZF
These buses are not good classics should stay longer.
I hate the seats of these buses.
