In my opinion the east coast palette is still too colonial cuz it's almost impossible to get spicy food outside of big cities. I've legit heard people describe bell peppers as too spicy here in Albany, like what?? But the autumn sunrises over the Adirondacks are such a gorgeous sight (second only to spring sunsets over the Colorado Rockies)

@@juniorsir9521 she posts most of her content privately on Patreon, the house proved to be a lot more than she expected (it wasn’t quite livable, there was a bat infestation, just a lot of upgrades needed) so she’s slowed her content to just Patreon at the moment, but says there’ll be more public TH-cam content in the future, once things are a little more settled. Definitely go check out her Patreon!

Oh my god! I thought houses like this only existed in the movies these days!!! Jaw dropping house. Also NY is so much more green and lush than I thought. Guess I've only ever seen footage of NYC but this really took me by surprise!
Thats what ive heard, I live at most 30 Minutes from this house. Upstate new york is truly beautiful, from the Catskill Mountains to the Adirondacks. A lot of people think that it is cities and no scenery but we have over 1500 lakes and sights to behold. Check it out sometime when you can.
@@chandlerpatterson7665 that sounds beautiful. Yes I have to say I have never fancied NYC as it looks so busy and concrete but visiting outside sounds like a completely different experience, and a really interesting one.
@@chandlerpatterson7665 the Adirondacks are beautiful but I hate when tourists or people on vacation come here. The traffic is terrible on holidays and in the summer
I’ve lived in different parts of New York State my entire life....it is mostly small towns with lakes and mountain ranges, river valleys and of course the large metropolitan area of New York City. I don’t live there, but don’t discount the fabulous things you can discover there! It is a beautiful state!

Hey Christine!! This house used to be in my family for a very long time! My grandma and dad both remember spending time here, my dad’s great Aunt Jennie lived there 🥰 keep an eye out for her spirit, apparently a previous owner said she felt her there. If you feel a presence, ask for Jennie! I’m from the town the house is in (for your privacy I’ll keep that on the downlow) but I’m so glad to see it’s staying with someone who will continue to love it as it deserves to be loved! I’m subscribing for sure!

Basia The house is famous, Wikipedia page and all. If anyone wanted to find her a reverse image search would be enough. She would have to never ever show her house if she was really determined to be private which of course she isn’t going to do. So I guess she should build some high wall of something 🤷🏻♀️
This is absolutely incredible Christine! My parents got married in that mansion (Chisholm Place) 27 years ago!! They still live very close by! I hope you and your family enjoy it!!

This house was built by my family. I used to play in this house as a child as my Mom would visit her Aunt. It is an amazing house!

The exterior reminds me of the Marsten house from the 1979 TV miniseries of Salem's Lot.
She shows traveling thru little falls which is like 10 min from the house she bought. That is where they filmed the opening scene of a quiet place.

I read somewhere that her Patreon income estimation was around $70,000/£55,000 a month. That’s like, double a standard yearly salary, so, yes. She could afford both, although the mountain cottage seems to have gone now.
@pumpkinpatch1059 yup she sold it a while ago according to the realtor. I also think that even with a salary like that it's only wise to sell this liability, especially if your momentary lifestyle includes renovating a massive Victorian mansion😂

Open an Airbnb Christine. You'd make a killing with your design skills. So many people would pay top dollar to stay in places like this. You could airbnb your place in California or quarter off a section of your new house or get a completely new place and redesign it. You'd be in the top places rented on Airbnb for sure.

She’s been super busy working on it to make it livable but that means less time to make content so she’s mostly just been keeping up with the Patreon content for now but that’ll change once the house gets a little more settled (still no proper kitchen and the A/C situation just got fixed). I've been in this house before. I remember standing in the driveway, looking up through the "overgrowth" all over the place (It wasn't kept well at the time) and thinking....good god be with me, something's just not right here. Then I stepped through that 12 foot high door, and life was instantly transformed in a second. All thoughts of dark and dreary were soon put to flight. Beautifully charming, that huge staircase jumps right out at you screaming "CLASS"! Suddenly, there was a feeling of peace and Love, and content. There's something good here, I remember thinking.

This is fabulous. I’m from Ilion, class of ‘92 and just moved back to NY (Corning) recently. Could CNY be in for a Renaissance? I’ve been in the house for a party and an estate sale 20+ years ago. The interior is beautiful each bedroom is uniquely decorated with a theme and color. I cannot wait to see what Christine does with it. I’m sure it will come alive under her care.

When I saw she said upstate NY I was teasing my fiancé about “I wanna go trick or treating at Christine’s!” Sadly we’re not actually upstate (though out of towners who think anything that isn’t NYC is upstate say otherwise) and are a few hours away from her. I do hope the kids have fun who can stop by though (assuming she’s doing Halloween of course ^_~)
I literally live thousands of steps from the property. Someone from Japan literally lives millions of steps and a plane ride. Who cares about literally anything. Just say I live a few hundred steps away. So many people are adding this one words it’s grossly overused.

I’ve waited way too long to click on this video, but I’m glad I finally watched it! When Christine got out of character, dropping “s bombs” while pulling into the driveway, I knew it was going to be amazing. Upon seeing this GORGEOUS, huge, historic house, I actually gasped and started to tear up. I couldn’t think of a better person to purchase this beautiful old building. I feel like the house immediately knew it would be in good hands.

turning the old house into a bed and breakfast would be a good idea! that way you can keep the house, make money off it, and share it with people who will appreciate the time and effort you put into making it beautiful! just a thought.
It used to be one! Many of these old homes in Upstate along the Erie Canal are B&B's now.

My 8 year old daughter has seen every one of your episodes and is one of your very biggest fans. She legitimately Googled how far New York is from where we live and was like "MOM, IT'S ONLY LIKE 7 HOURS AWAY! WE COULD BRING HER A HOUSEWARMING GIFT"
So just know that you inspire an 8 year old girl so much that she wants us to take a 14 hour round trip to deliver you a present to congratulate you on moving to the East Coast. 🤣
After seeing the realtor sign and recognizing the area code as one used in my area, I realized she’s only about two hours from me now! I’m sure she’s going to love it. Upstate/Western NY is such a beautiful area. Makes me sad that people only think of NYC when they think of New York because of how beautiful the rest of the state really is.

Wow! This is literally my dream house! I love Victorians and this is like an Italianate almost mixed with victorian influences and It's just stunning. From that mansard roof to the wraparound porch, to the brick, it's all excellent! I would love to own a house like this someday and it's great to find someone who shares that same passion for all the detail and work that goes into a home like this. Ilion is my mom’s hometown. I go back every summer to visit my grandparents who have lived in their house there since the 80s, I’ve loved this Victorian my entire life. It’s so gorgeous. I would always take walks to look at it when I visited. So happy it went to someone who loves it as much as I do. Congratulations!!!

Kris Ritton She drove through, and showed footage, of western Colorado, where all my family is from. I live in Colorado Springs, but drive home all the time. It’s somehow nice to see people passing through who can appreciation what’s so familiar and loved to the rest of us. ♥️ My family, on my mother’s side, came to the colonies in the 1600’s from the areas near Amsterdam. So very Dutch. Many of them lived in upstate New York. There’s a Wynkoop house that one of my great grandfathers lived in. I’ve never been to New York, but it looks beautiful. I would love to visit after COVID. Beautiful hometown you have 😊.

Girl, you better invest in some high quality water filters. This town has boil water advisories every couple of months. Kudos to you for making this town seem a lot nicer than it is.
I second this. The tap water here destroys coffee makes and washing machines. You can’t really drink it so have water delivered. The water was literally brown for a few months. Get filters installed ASAP.
I was looking at some of the real estate around there to see the vintage houses and was surprised how cheap they are! Is there not a lot of jobs or industry there?
Oh now I know why some yt have water delivered because they literally can’t drink it. I’m in city/country but our water is great.
Kat M not really... The area has been struggling a bit for decades. We're in a region informally known as The Rust Belt. However, there has been a lot of initiative recently to boost the local economy and preserve a rather cool history 🤷🏻♀️ There are lots of really beautiful and inspiring old homes around here, some needing more love than others lol
She could also get water conditioning units. Probably a water softener. She probably would need an iron and sulfur filtration device and then a reverse osmosis unit for drinking water. The other units to condition water are important because sulfur and iron will kill an RO unit.

I hope you like upstate NY and that you find your home all you ever dreamed of and more! We are so glad you have come to this area. I can understand how you would miss your home in California though. But after awhile you will have the new home, cozy and shining just the way you want it, and you will fill us with your spooky, but yet lovely home, after all the decorating you will do, is finished, or in the process anyway!

Just love how your kitties and dog are so content even staying in a motel! Just as long as they have their mom and dad they are happy! Wherever you call home they are totally into it!
I find "Praying mantis" a very unusual animal. They can look so human-like in many ways and turn their head around so much to see behind them. It is shocking how they move their bodies, and you can really see their face so well! Never know whether you should be afraid or in awe?
Oh WOW, I live in the town this mansion is in. I drive by it almost daily! I’m glad to see someone giving it the love and appreciation it deserves!! :)
