  • In this video, I'll demosntrate five things in HRD Logbook - the Lookup Pane, Wikipedia Country Information, Google Locate and Show Location (in Google Earth Pro), and adding columns to the log view.
    Note: To use the features of Google Earth, you have to download and install Google Earth Pro separately.

    You were correct I didn’t much about these things in HRD, Or forgot , perhaps new features since I last used HRD several years ago. Earlier today I received a email from HRD sales offering a discount upgrading me to the latest version at price I couldn’t ignore. So took the opportunity to upgrade with current features. I’m looking forward to seeing what changes have made since the last time I used HRD several years ago.

    Good info. I am a new/old ham. I took a 26 year hiatus from gam radio and let my license lapse due to health issues at the time. I am testing next month and am interested in using HRM as my logging software. I am struggling to get a true overview of all the things it does. Even their own website doesn't have a video on it. I am a visual learner and videos like yours help a lot. So, thanks for this.

    Hi HRD. I am currently on 30 days try and I am thinking about purchasing. BUT Google Earth works fine from the lookup pane as you demonstrate in this video, but not directly from the logbook entries. If I right click on a QSO and choose Lookup>Google Earth it shows me a place on earth which are 0.0.0 N 0.0.0 E. The coordinates doesn't come over.

    I am having a problem, when I click lookup on Google earth I get a window that says open or save. I click open and another window flashes for a split second and then vanishes. whats wrong? It worked before I moved everything to another computer.

    It would be nice to be able to populate the SWL Logbook with a spreadsheet vice one of the commercial databases.

      We support the shortwave database by ILGRadio. You can get that here: www.ilgradio.com/ilgradio.htm

    The Google Earth plot doesn't work for me. Google Earth only zooms to a random place in the ocean and all the logs I selected show as being there, as well as my QTH.

    When I want to look at google earth on a contact in my log in HRD, a window pops up and wants to know "how do you want to open this file?"

    Great tips...though I'm finding the google earth trick does not work???? when I click on it a screen pops up and gives me the option to open or save. If I click open the box goes away and nothing opens???? I'll dig around for a setting on my computer????

      It's working, but options set in Google Earth Pro are prompting you for things. Go into Google Earth options and tell it to quit prompting you and it'll work smoothly then.

    the google earth lookup is gray-ed out on my menu. How do I enable that function?

      I've never seen it grey'd out. Do you have Google Earth Pro installed?

    You have your logbook setup like I do, I didn't know about the google earth stuff, that was very helpful to me. Thank you! 73 de AI5DD

    I did not know about the Google Maps and the ability to plot QSO's from the logbook. I would really like to do that by each antenna to "see" just how the propogation differs... Keep up the good work. 73 Art W1SWL

    Is HRD Alert only available if you buy a year of support?

    • @HamRadioDeluxe
      @HamRadioDeluxe  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A given feature is permanently enabled for you when the release date of the feature is prior to the expiration date of your New Features & Support. The release date for HRD Alert was 22-May 2022. Your New Features & Support expiration is 21-Dec 2013. So in your case, the feature would be permanently enabled if you purchase a New Features & Support renewal (which is why a renewal more than "a year of support". It also permanently unlocks any features released prior to that date).

    Four I didn't know, the last one I use a lot. I also have various layouts for different situations, I have one for Worked All Britain (using custom 1 and 2) which I don't need if I am hunting for US States. Thanks - Terry

    Great Video. I did not know about the google earth thing. I‘m new on HRD Log. By the way, do you know how to best log QO-100 Satellite QSO‘s with HRD Log?, thanks heinz HB9BPH

    • @HamRadioDeluxe
      @HamRadioDeluxe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The key thing there is that you have to manually enter the satellite name and the prop mode. We'll eventually automate that.

    Thanks for this video. Is there a way of plotting qso's on a flat projection as opposed to the google earth spheroid that may have to be rotated to see all qso's?

    Great tips. Can you do a video on how to set up a contest log?

    • @HamRadioDeluxe
      @HamRadioDeluxe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, we're not really a contest logger at present. You can set it up for casual contesting but there' no mechanism to keep score. That is a strong possibility in the future.
