      Thank you for your comment. I am glad that the video is useful to X-typers. I've been driving an X-type for about 6 years and I also have an experience of the following removings: alternator without radiator, fuel pump without fuel tank, roof lining without windshield, front suspension arm without front subframe. I don't guarantee that I will take videos about all these cases, but some of them surely.

      @@jaguarrroman awesome.. would love to know your opinion on the X-types since you've been driving it for 6 years... are they considered reliable compared to other cars from that era?

    • @jaguarrroman
      @jaguarrroman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm driving a Front Wheel Drive X-type with manual gearbox, she is more reliable than AWD. AWD has too much things, you can do without. Manual gearbox is more reliable than automatic. As for diesels, early ones had very restricted lifetime of the injectors, since 2005 they got rid of this issue. On the whole X-type is well equipped for her time, but sometimes electronics give you headaches, mostly because of the previous owners/ bad maintenance. Petrol engines are good, reliable and smooth. Headlights bad because of the low voltage system, needs Xenons. That's it. Still the car has got a charisma, other competitors of early 2000 have already lost it long ago.

      Hello, Engelbert! I have never considered NM while changing the spark plugs. I believe they should be tightened snug, but without excessive fanatic efforts, like on any other petrol engine. If you have any doubts, you can google the spark plug torque of Ford Duratec V6 engine. Good luck and thank you for watching!

      Thank you, John, for your comments. I have got the same problem, it bothers me for quite a lot of time, I tried many things to help it until at last the knock sensor error occurred. Now I am waiting for a new knock sensor, it will arrive in some 1-2 weeks and I intend to change it without removing intake, in my manner :-) Surely, I will take a video about it. After that I will check if this was the reason of my CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE and let everybody know about it.
      P.S. First of all, you should read the error codes, because CRUISE not available may be caused by many reasons, For example, earlier I had to repair ABS unit to get rid of it.

    • @jaguarrroman
      @jaguarrroman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To tell you the truth, the majority of things can be done from behind the intake manifold. There is enough space between the intake and engine head even for big hands. I don't change spark plugs very often, that's why I've quite lost my skills since the last time.

  • @richardautenzio8117
    @richardautenzio8117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What a great Video! 10/10 However you can only carry this proceedure out on a 2.1ltr engine model. On the 2.5 and 3ltr models you will have to remove the intake manifold. I had a 3ltr AWD and I sold it for a better 2.1ltr with FWD only. The 2.1 is a much more practical car if you are a DIY. It doesn't have a transfer box, drive shaft to the rear with a rear differential running under the petrol tank. It also only has one exhaust pipe. And yes you can get to the plugs and coils.This car actually would have been a better car with a good 4 cylinder 2ltr -2.5ltr engine and for those who can afford to pay speeding finds, a turbo charge could have been fitted. I find the 2.1ltr perky enough and very easy to get around in. I also have a 4ltr Straight 6, 1996 XJ6 and believe it or not, it is probably easier to work on than any of the V6 X Type engine etc.

    • @jaguarrroman
      @jaguarrroman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with every word you said, Richard. Sometimes, I am even considering swapping my 2.1 engine for a 2.5 one. Though, it wouldn't be quite correct, as the final drive ratio of 2.5 gearbox is different.

    • @richardautenzio8117
      @richardautenzio8117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jaguarrroman I think that the 2.1 V6 X Type is the most practical because of it simpler format. And the only improvement or alternative would be very impractical. The 2.5 would still have the problem of simple access to the plugs and coils. I have always said. this car would have been a great car with a 2.4 or 2.5ltr 4 cylinder engine. Ford has a great 2.4 four cylinder petrol engine that they have been using in their big Transit van for decades. That engine would have been so smooth, quieter and would have had plenty of power. But the buyers just want V6's and V8's and thus we have the problems that come with this buyer want, which is more than needed. The modern car is over engineered and very impractical in so many ways. And the buyer just wants to complicate it even more.

    • @richardautenzio8117
      @richardautenzio8117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jaguarrroman Stick with the 2.1ltr unless you really, really do need the extra power. I have worked out and as I have said before, this car would have been a much better car with a 4Cylinder 2.5ltr engine. It would have been quieter and much smoother. Fuel economy would have been better also. You can listen to others but I also have a 4ltr X300 XJ6 Straight six engine which is a much heavier car and the fuel economy on that car is not that much heavier than the 2.1ltr V6 X Type. These V6's rev very high and make a lot of noise. Most V6's are never as good as a simple 4.

    • @jaguarrroman
      @jaguarrroman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardautenzio8117 I preferred my 2.1 V6 mostly because I didn't want to get in touch with all the AWD transmission troubles (driveshafts, transferbox and so on). As for the engine volume, I also would like to have a 2.5 with a front wheel drive transmission. I even wouldn't object to a V6 2.5. But unfortunately, there is no such an option and it is rather tricky to swap engines. It may be better to swap it for an electric drive straight without any intermediates.

    • @richardautenzio8117
      @richardautenzio8117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jaguarrroman 👍Stick with your 2.1ltr. You know, a practical car should have all the regular service components accessible. That certainly includes the ignition system. The more modern and the more power they put into these cars, the more impractical they become. The only reason I tolerate the mechanics of my 2.1ltr stupid V6 is because the car is rather unique and classy. Both outside and inside. The X Type is the last of the Jaguars that has the traditional Jaguar characteristics and styling. Climb in to a modern Jag and it could be a BMW or another car. Jaguar was never Just the name to me. It could have been called a Pussy and I would have loved the car. Today they could call it a Rolls Royce and it would not impress me. Don't laugh. They are selling us crap for luxury today. All gadgets and very little uniqueness. Even Rolls and Bentleys SUV's without their badge etc would not look much different from so many other SUV's.

      You are the only man, who mentioned the secret. The bonnet is OK. The manual is also OK, you can follow it. But the secret is, that during taking the video I didn't have to change the spark plugs and I didn't want to unscrew them just for nothing. So I didn't change the plugs in reality, I just cut the video when the socket is taken out of the spark plug wells.
