The biggest thing I've learned from this channel is that attitude is almost as important as skill. I grew up in an abusive home and as soon as I was on my own, I tried to surround myself with people like this. I remember working on cars with my father and praying I did everything perfectly the first time or face the consequences. At that time I didn't know people and families like this existed. Anyway, I'm grateful for your channel and your success and another great video.

C-5 overheating can be a plugged up radiator, it’s like a vacuum cleaner,sucking up all leaves on the road and since the radiator is at an angle, they don’t fall off when you stop. Look under the front bumper with a mirror you may be surprised.
Yeah that's what it was. It was jammed right full of seeds and birds and leaves. Pretty much everything. Took almost a half of 5 gallon pal of dirt and debris out from in there. Most people don't see it on these cars because nobody drives them. Apparently they think they're special haha. I don't see the big deal. They're like $15,000 cars on Facebook marketplace. Why let it sit around, get out and beat the pants off the thing. I don't save nothing for the next guy haha.
Did a similar job on the Mustang the other week, swapped out the boring old factory center resonator for a h-pipe. All the reciprosaw fun but with the extra spice that the pipe cuts had to be made right next to the gas tank.
I had to do it on jack stands so my cat was able to occasionally come by and give me a solid headbutt of encouragement.
Saw next to a fuel tank isn't bad, but using a propane torch within an inch of a plastic fuel tank is fun.

May be the first time I have seen an exhaust has arrived without at least one pipe end deformed. It work$, but Borla is pretty proud of that packaging $ystem.
The foam packaging protects the cargo and also it helps protect from a few ups and fed ex folks care that they give
I bought an OBX catback for my G6 several years ago. It came packaged the same way with the expanding foam. It's probably not that uncommon for items like this.
I drove to BORLA in Oxnard California in 1986 with my then new Mustang SVO turbo-four. They fitted the 1st ever kit made for one on my car.

Best way to describe left side to people is to refer to steering, left side steering in North America, right side Europe etc. Love the show for about 6 years now. Used to watch car shows on TV all the time but the shows stopped showing the work and are now all talk and advertising so all I watch now is diagnostics and tuning videos on TH-cam. Even the news is real here if you know not to watch corporate owned news. Always just been a hobbiest/racer doing repairs for friends and always been good with electronics for a self taught guy so since I retired from the government I am now doing diagnostics and programming for neighbours and local garbages and you played a major role in that development.

The mufflers say S-type, so thats Borlas 2nd loudest exhaust (their loudest is the Atak iirc). Great exhaust but a little pricey for me

@Bobby Dazzler no, I meant for my vehicles ( a truck and Mustang I used to have), and their prices generally don't vary much (for both my truck and mustang, the price was around $1200, even though they were different).
Neighbor has a LOUD Borla exhaust on a Shat-Vette....would trade listening to that thing start every morning for just about anything else.

I got a good laugh out of "may pops". I was walking into work one day and noticed I could see steel belts on one of the guys tires that commutes 90 miles each way. I went by his work station to let him know. He was as calm as could be when he replied, they are 2 plies and that's only the first showing.
The older I get, the quieter I want the exhaust to be.

Ted Nugent says if the music is too loud for you...your too old so turn around and get the h*ll out. In any case I seem to feel the same about it. I do make an exception for old school thraoghty exhaust. It just makes me feel better.

I just pulled the Borla off my now dead 2001 VW VR6 GTi after nearly 200k miles of use...the car was a rusted hulk, the muffler is fine and will be going on my next car. Good product!

Im 68 and always been a car guy, do everything I can myself, I drove a truck for many years and always gravitated towards the mechanics hoping to pick something up. I can watch watch a guy work on anything and pretty fast till if hes got it, and you have the whole package, love watching watching your diagnostics, wish you lived closer to me... Best Regards Greg
Only about 2/3 of the way through, but I had to stop and comment. This is a production shop where time is money, period. But every job I see is handled just like he was working on his own car, checking details and making sure everything is perfect - not just bolted together. That says everything about how Mr. O approaches his work and his regard for his customers. I don't know his hourly rate, but whatever it is it's worth it since the job will be done to the highest standards. The opposite of roll it in, roll it out ASAP.
Eric I love your interactions with the kitty it's almost like you're a different person when you are dealing with the kitty, and he is or she is cute as a button.
I thought her name was Rona for the longest time, then I heard it clearly, Luna. She wasnt fooling around about going inside with Mrs. O who has the goodies for her. She was polite with Mr. O and tolerated his delay in opening the door, but she wanted in now.

It already had a good factory exhaust with a Stainless H pipe cross-over. I would have bolted the new mufflers on only and called it a day.

"Loud pipes save lives-" is a fiction started by a salesman pushing loud motorcycle exhausts- has anyone ever seen a police car with the warning siren pointing to the rear?
I grew up in the very late 60's-early 70's and had a ton of 60's -early 70's muscle cars. Back then everybody placed their mufflers right off of the headers. Having performance mufflers right up front sounded completely different than installing them after the rear axle. What a smooth rumble and a very mean WOT tone I used to get. My C2 and C3 Corvettes always got side pipes so they were pretty much right up front as well and sounded amazing.
No offense to you as everybody has their own taste when it comes to exhaust sound but todays C5, C6 and up remind me of the Ricer cars of the 90's-2000's with their 4 cylinder engines and a big fat fart pipe muffler right at at the rear bumper. Exact same sound just higher pitch than the LS V8
This is the reason that my C5 Vert exhaust is, and shall remain stock. Good job on the install.
Got the same exhaust on my 2020 ram 1500. Absolutely love it. Good tone, yet not overpowering where you can't drive it long distance without getting a headache.
The Vette owner has great taste in performance exhaust system.

I had an exhaust stop install a catback Magnaflow system on my 20 Ram 5.7l anyway they told be 100 bucks. I said go for it. When I picked it up they took it back in 3 times to get the 2 mufflers to finally have some resemblance of eveness. They earned that 100 bucks. I bet they don't give a set price in the future for an aftermarket exhaust!

Other than the "mellow exhaust sound," I'd like to see just how much extra Horse Power and Torque the Borla cat-back system makes from about 2000 RPM to 6500 RPM on a chassis dyno.
I'm a Chevy guy and I know you're not Mr. O, but I have now adopted your phrase "Woah Chevy thunder!" Even when I just changed the spark plugs and did an oil change on my 2010 Malibu with the big 2.4 I started it after I was done and had to say the phrase.
Always enjoy watching your videos Eric and was especially pleased to see you working on one of my favorite Corvettes, a C5. The Dark Bowling Green was a particularly rare color in 2001 (as it was in 2000), but still a favorite of mine since the mid-60's Corvette.
I love the idea and look of a nice stainless steel exhaust system on almost any car for it's durability and strength, but for less than half the price, a Titanium take-off from a C5 Z06 is a much better value in my opinion. Take-off's can be picked up for $500 (or less) quite easily and are a terrific value. They are less than half the weight, just as strong and virtually as durable, best of all they flow as well as most of the aftermarket systems. Yes the aftermarket systems do look good and most have an excellent sound to them, but in the end, that's all they offer, a bit more flash with more 'noise'. BTW, the Titanium system 'barks' quite nicely at mid to upper RPM's. 🙂
In the end the hardest part of the installation is the time it takes to align the tips because of the multi-piece system. It makes it possible to install the system on the ground without a lift, but typically sacrifices the original system (which may still have some value) and adds more time to the alignment process. 👍
The sway bar end links were a pretty cut-rate item that should never have found their way on what was and is an otherwise terrific car. They typically failed early on many C5's irrespective of how the car was driven. The good news is they are inexpensive (even for excellent after market ones) and easy to change out.
Thanks again for the professionalism you show in all of your work, who the heck reads instructions these days, but it can save a lot of aggravation, time and even money... 👍
I have Titanium mufflers off of a Z06 on my 2000 C5 and love it, not loud but when you give it some throttle it comes alive, no drone, I was surprised that Eric had to drop the rear suspension to get the right side muffler out, I had taken my mufflers off after dropping the sway bar with no problem, maybe there were changes made in 2001?
As the official bearing aficionado of this channel, its nice to be part of the early squad!

I have a magnaflow exhaust on my 94 mustang gt, loud. Thank gosh, it was on prior to the new nys install law. Inspectors had conflict inspecting it but have since told me, they aren't the police, it has cats so it's inspection legal. Great job. You are meticulous with every job you do, hope you charge for that!

As always, great attention to detail. Only thing I would have done differently would be to deburr the existing pipe where you cut it. It could easily add 1/100 of a horsepower to the finished job ;)

Tip on buying an exhaust do your research and hear a car with these before buying, otherwise you end up with a drone monster from he double l, mine is great on the road and will set offl car alarms in garages lol
