      I feel the same. Those in the video are just sebum, not actually dead skin. You don't need a special product for clearing sebum on your scalp, shampoo is enough.

    That "stuff" around your follicals is normal and completely healthy. If you didn't have this buildup you would pretty soon get a dry, irritated scalp. It's like a natural moisturiser/protection layer for your head.

    Hey tina!
    I loved the microscope bit but, you keep saying i have dandruf. I would disagree(im a hairdresser in the netherlands), when you have dandruf you would have really large pieces of dead skin, your scalp looks oily but healthy. I does not look irritated or anything like that. Please and i beg you! Do not use any dandruf shampoo. You just use a hypoallergenic shampoo a few times and youre fine!

      What do you recommend for color treated hair? If you only want to wash max twice a week and go to the gym? How?

    • @JuliaRV13
      @JuliaRV13 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@comkver depends. Is your hair colored or lightend? If its the first use a shampoo for colored hair, this way your color will last longer. If it is lightend is could be damaged or dry. So use something for that. In any case ALWAYS use a conditioner or mask after you washed. And when you go to the gym try just rinsing you hair with water. If that isnt enough, dry shampoo!

    I'm also Asian. I have thick long hair but always had scalp issues. All of my questions were answered today when I finally had a scalp facial and ya'll... your scalp says so much about your health! Tina's scalp (just recalling what I was told about my scalp) is pretty healthy. An example of a scalp that has bacteria on it which is normal would be inflamed and have some redness to it. I wish everyone had access to something like this. It's more about your insides when it comes to hair than people think!

    I use that microscope on my scalp, face an neck and it's AMAZING. 👌👌👌So far the most dramatic change in scalp sebum-cleaning has been with apple cider vinegar diluted in warm water 1:4
    First I wash my hair w a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the excess dirt and the product which no scalp treatment can do by itself. Then i rinse and towel dry, then apply the vinegar solution directly to my scalp using a nozzle bottle so it does straight to the skin for best soaking. Massage into scalp for 15 minutes. It removed a lot of the buildup and i was able to see the clean follicles under the microscope. SO cool! ☺️For best results, dry-brush your scalp with a toothbrush before getting in the shower. Just swift short rubs to small sections of your scalp in circular or quick straight motions. Be careful not to tangle the hair, so don't do more than an inch at a time. This loosens a TON of dry skin and the shampoo and ACV will remove a lot more of it. Sebum is super sticky so the more you can dislodge w a dry brush the more the shampoo and ACV solution will dissolve or wash.. Warning: DO NOT use vinegar on temporary semi-permanent hair color bc it strips the color. Permanent color is fine.

    It was probably just oil build up! Mix of oil and dry shampoo. Even if u hadn’t used dry shampoo it would have probably been the same. Guaranteed you’d have a lovely clean scalp after washing it. Hair and scalp produces a lot of oil. I don’t think you have anything to worry about

    Every 3 days, I shower every day but either use a shower cap or just let it air dry because my hair’s very thick and very dry. I use a dandruff shampoo for every other wash. I sometimes use dry shampoo as well, but generally I try not to use a lot of heat. If I use a straightener or a curler, I put it on low heat. I’m a performer, so it’s also good to have a little bit of oil and texture to your hair for styling purposes.

    I really really liked this ep! I work in the hair industry in the U.S. and have never really heard of "scalp exfoliator;" closest thing I can think of is clarifying shampoo. I have to say, although this video may have gotten up close and made your follicles look clogged or a little icky, I'm pretty sure that what it was showing was just natural sebum and skin cell buildup. I would have LOVED to see another close up after you shampooed though! And yes, you shouldn't wash your hair too often because it washes away your scalp's natural moisturizer (sebum) which leaves the hair feeling dry. I also only wash mine about twice a week but unless you have extremely overactive sebaceous glands there is no need for shampooing every day! 😁 I love hair science and would love to see more up close hair and scalp videos!! The gray hair was so cool up close; gray hair only appears gray; it's actually just lacking natural pigment. Really neat!

    Apple cider vinegar hair rinse! :D
    That can help to remove residue left on your hair from styling products : Combine one part apple cider vinegar with one part water and use it as a rinse after shampooing. Apply the mixture with a spray bottle or pour it directly onto your hair. Allow it to sit for a minute or two and then rinse thoroughly. Apple cider vinegar also helps detangle hair and close the hair’s cuticle (the outer most layer of the hair shaft), leaving it smooth and shiny. Use apple cider vinegar as a regular part of your natural hair care routine. Hope that helps!

    Tuna you are the freaking best! Hahaha I love you! Your scalp is a continuation of your face, so treated as such. I highly recommend getting a serum or exfoliants that is BHA like salicylic acid or glycolic acid or a combo and just use it the same way that you were on your face and it will really help clear all of that junk out and do it no more than twice a week same as you would do with your face. Be gentle with it just the same as you would with your face and I bet you will see some lasting results like some shocking growth with that much sebum around your hair follicles I bet they’re like kind of suffocating and being crowded out so it will limit the growth and the nutrients and oxygen as well
