The claim that Linux has acceptable alternatives generally falls apart when put to the test. In our office, we use Word 2021, and it mostly works. When a major document that we maintain with Word is opened in LibreOffice Writer, it turns to garbage. Small notes may migrate gracefully, but a document with size, complexity, and more than garden-variety formatting is ruined when imported. As long as Linux remains an object of religious veneration rather than a tool to be used for getting work done, fanatics will remain oblivious to Linux's dramatic shortcomings and inadequacies on the desktop.

Keep in mind that this video was made with the average user in mind, who only utilizes like 10% (if that) of what MS Office can do. I imagine that there are a few people out there that do super advanced stuff with Microsoft Office, and those people may be stuck, but they're a minority, not the majority.
Have you tried any of the other alternatives I mentioned?

For LO, I recommend that the fonts you find in Windows are imported into Linux so LO can pick them up lowering layout issues.
There are a number of ways of doing this.
To raise the fact WPS is made by a Chinese company viz-a-viz privacy 9:56 is disappointing. Is there any evidence that supports such a concern other than the 'proprietary' nature of it? I guess you are in the US or Canada where, given extrajudicial acts and by actual legislation done by certain lets say 'actors', plus the fact that it involves Microsoft just as many if not far more of an issue when it comes to privacy! Same pretty much for any State security agencies.

Libre Office is great. The only problem i have is that some places require windows documents, so i have to do that on my husbands computer before i can submit them. It's not much of a problem, but i wanted to be completely free of windows and i can't.

You can choose to save documents as a .docx or a .doc when saving.
