      @@cozycows They are not predator-proof. The company says they need to be used indoors. I currently own two of them and will be buying a third. Because my shed was not finished yet, I had to put one of my cages outside. I surrounded three sides of the cage with a tarp. We put chicken wire on the front. I used a funnel with part of the tip cut off to fill the feeders.

      @@splitarrowfarm the only thing I feel is that this thing is ridiculously expensive and that you might he better off building something yourself for a fraction of the cost. Not sure if you'll see this or not, but it's worth a shot! This is our first year raising quail and we have the same cage. I'm not sure where you guys live, but here by me (Illinois) we get some pretty cold winters. Do you have cold winters and if so, does the water system freeze? We're fast approaching our first winter with them and I'm worried about that but can't find much information on it out there!

    Hello!
    Thank you so much for sharing. I do have a question for you.
    The seller claims it can raise about 100 quail in your system. Asking you....how many PER CAGE do you feel is more appropriate for reg. size quail?
    Also...thank you for pointing us directly to the seller because Amazon prices really turned me off. However...I am STRONGLY thinking about it now that I see the prices if bought direct.
    Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    • @splitarrowfarm
      @splitarrowfarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, yes I think that 100 quail would be tight unless you are looking to turn these quail quickly and harvesting them regularly. I would say 4-5 per section would be max. And I would lean more towards 4. We have tried putting in more and they will just trample each other getting to the food and water dishes. We have had a few fatalities because of that and now keep 3-5 per cage depending on how large they are. Hopefully this helps. I do think it is the most amazing cage ever though haha

    Since this setup has no sand tub for them to take dust baths, have you run into any problems with mites? Also do you add grit or oyster shells or anything to their food tray, or just 100% game bird starter? These cages look great, I'm just a bit concerned about those 2 things before I buy.

    • @splitarrowfarm
      @splitarrowfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, we haven’t run into either issue but we do harvest our quail about every 6-8 months and then add in a new batch so that does help prevent a lot of issues. Otherwise we have had great success with these quails and they truly help minimize daily tasks like watering, feeding and worrying about cleaning a flat bottom cage

    • @lorenaroma

    • @splitarrowfarm

      We have regular Coturnix and Bobwhite quail no jumbos but I could see fitting jumbos in this cage it would just hold far less because you couldn't put as many in each cage. Hopefully this helps!
