Why is it assumed that Edey can not become a defensive standout? He served as a role player early in his college career. He became the first option on offense later. He would be a 4th option with the Grizzlies at best. His skill development trend suggests that he could develop into a solid 3-point shooter. He has proven to be a hard worker who is determined to win.
Ware has a history of being low motor and drift out of games. No dog in him.
Clingan has the foot/ ankle issue and has missed games. Edey hasn't missed maybe one game in his career.

This like 09 DeMar, Harden and Curry was in the Blake Griffin draft, but during that draft Blake was the only player people was sure about. We not gone know the top players until 3 to 5yrs from now so I'll just keep the pick or draft down.
Just draft Edey or Ware at #9. Trade young players and assets for a establish player like Lauri Markennen.

Front office really seems to want to overthink this draft. If the second round ends with Memphis having drafted a center, a wing and a guard who were all well-scouted, I’ll be satisfied.
Don't trade up! Edey should be available at #9. Edey is more polished offensively than Clingan and can learn to be better on defense in time.
GG isn't on the table for anyone, his contract over the next 4 years is too good for the organization. Basically got this years #1 pick for the price of a late first.

@@Cleanscape901 he would be top 3, possibly 1 if he was in this draft, he reclassified down which is why he's so young. Before he did he was picked to be the top player going into last seasons NCAA and the top prospect for this draft.
@@Cleanscape901 the reason the Grizz got a steal is because of his reclassifcation, basically last season with the Grizz was the same as the other guys that were originally in his class that went to the G League (Sarr, Buzelis, Holland, Risacher, ect...)are all his age at 19 but this is their first year out of HS. Comparing his season last year to there's against less competition, he absolutely looks like the best prospect, but we already have him under contract (signed in the middle of the season). Dude already dropped 40 on the Nuggest while these guys were playing sub par talent and not looking close to as good.

I think you stay at nine or trade back and get Edey ware or missi. But I’m gonna be happy with clingon Edey ware or missi. Any one of them may surprise the league.
Im not a fan of Clingan after getting dominated by Edey. Imagine what NBA centers will do to him. Dereck Lively averaged 5 ppg at Duke and looks pretty good. We can find a decent center at 9 without trading up
The Athletic has the Grizzlies drafting Dillingham. If not Clingan or Edey, I personally prefer Holland of players projected to be available in 9th pick range because he will be a solid defender worst case scenario.

@Sergiosurroc GG couldn't shoot a year ago, either. But I recognize that shooting is an issue in regards to Holland. There are a lot of draftees that could shoot well in college but not in the NBA. Work ethic, willingness to expand skill set, and desire to contribute to winning are key characteristics in my opinion.

@Sergiosurroc What are you talking about. GG has said himself that wasn't good from distance until Anthony Carter helped him improve his mechanics.
It appears to me that Boston's success is on their defense. They have shot poorly from 3 in games and still won because their defense is outstanding.
Jalen Brown has been more important than Tatum because Tatum's shot falling and is using superior athleticism to take the to the rim.
I'm not saying Holland is the right guy. It's not a great year to have a lottery pick.
Naw GG and Vince arent up for trade imo. They are on amazing cheap deals and will be our bench. We have 5 second round picks from the Adams and Tillman trades. I would use 3 or 4 of those to move up to get Clingan but nothing else. If not, just keep 9 and draft best available. Then trade either Smart or Kennard plus those second round picks to get a center.

I’d take a risk on Knecht, but considering that the Grizzlies passed on Walker Kessler to draft Jake, having to trade LaRavia away for a pittance would really sting. Because there’s no sense in having two wings so similar on the roster.
