“If They Get Into A Fight… They Are Difficult To Manage” XL Bully Ban To Come Into Place

- The XL Bully ban comes into place this Sunday meaning that dogs must be neutered, kept on a lead, muzzled in public and can’t be bred or sold.
However, a Freedom of Information request shows that nearly 2,000 exemption applications were made in one week.
It raises questions over how prepared authorities are in charge of enforcing these changes.

If you can't stop a dog from fighting you shouldn't own a dog.
People ignore that fact that these dogs are inherently more aggressive and capable of damage, it’s not like training a border collie. It’s not a coincidence they’re responsible for 65% of fatal attacks
According to bully watch, but this by their own admission is not correct as only 3 are confirmed xl the rest are suspected.
They include staffy-lab crosses in those stats so that isn't accurate
some common sense :) its frustrating that the majority of the arguement is regarding training and gentics/temperment is rarely mentioned! And if you take time to really research the true XL bully has come from a particular fighting line from USA
I recently got a GSD pup and if i was facing the same issues i just follow the law as her life is more important than 2 fingers up to the law
@@jess-sweetheartt8820Yeah, I just paid the govt £92 ransom fee to be on the safe side. Utterly ridiculous though for my 6 year old female staffy cross that weighs 25 kg and has never hurt anything, even after being bitten on several occasions by collies etc.
@@manuag3886there are no lab crosses I've worked at a shelter we will legit mislabel pits and pit mixes as lab mixes because we want to get rid of them and there are people dumb enough to believe it
Lets be real, look at the people attending the protests. I know its wrong to judge a book by its cover, however as a brit, and I'm sure my fellow countrymen will agree with me, these people that own XL Bullies, like those that attended the protests, tick all the boxes of the type of people who shouldn't own this breed of dog, its clearly used as an intimidation tool, not as a family pet.
Totally disagree. One of my clients has an American bulldog but he meets the measurement put out. They are responsible dog owners, have done the training and socialisation. They were at the protest

It’s not about whether they’re a friendly one or not , it’s the worry about what could happen , I have a neighbour who’s now got one now and so where my child used to ride their bike along the pavement past there house I will now not allow them out the gate for fear of this dog and what could happen if it turned . You don’t need a dog like this as a family pet this is purely an intimidation animal .
Your right in stopping your child riding their bike past the house of that animal.
One family let their young children play in the front garden whilst the neighbors x bully and Staffie dogs we're in their front garden. The mother just went in the house for a minute when she heard screams.
The youngest child was being mauled by both dogs after they jumped the fence. I am not going to write about the injuries as they were so bad that the surgeons didn't think the boy was going to make it. His life changed for ever and he is unrecognizable from before and needs 24 hour round the clock care.
The neighbours blamed the mother, telling her, "your fault for letting your children out of the house." The mother and neighbours said the dogs were aggressive at times, but the young female owner said that her dogs were very sweet and loving and would never hurt a fly.
I don't understand why the owners of these bullies are getting angry, the government is not telling them to put their dog to sleep, they are just telling them to take responsibility of their dogs so that people can go about their daily lives without being mauled
Also, how hard is it to understand that not all people like dogs especially the dogs as powerful as x bullies. How many times have we seen owners especially women who can't control those animals like the woman in Stratford tube station a few weeks ago.
But at home the x bullies are welcome to maul their owners.

It may be a pet, but so might a lion or tiger, or a boa constrictor. And some of those might be alright, but the point is what you said. The animal may turn, or the owner might be bad, or both things might happen. You might have a dog that turns and a bad owner, together!
If your dog is getting into fights, you didn't manage it in the first place.

I walked past two adults struggling to hold their two xl bullies under control on their leashes today - I was terrified. If they’d let go of their leads, I’d have been taken down instantly, I have no doubt, as I eyed them straining at their leashes. Frightening
One was abandoned in Luton at a Petrol Station in October. It ran off eventually down residential streets. Imagine walking and you see one of those off lead and no owner in sight😮

@@stevew1973 seriously, walking past these beasts, knowing they have the power to seriously injure, maim or kill you IF the owner loses control or is overpowered, IS frightening! If someone was walking their pet grizzly bear in your neighbourhood, would YOU feel safe walking past?

The dog expert says an XL bully is 50 to 70 kg, yet the ban is affecting dogs as little as 25 kg according to the DEFRA website which says the max height at the withers for a female is 48cm. This ban is ridiculous and affecting thousands of bull breeds which aren't XL and look nothing like the pictures the media has been showing!

I’m in my 20’s and have one. They’re very loving dogs and I have no worries around him. My lab can be more problematic however I do think a lot of people my age get them to look cool. Ours is rescue from a puppy farm on a council estate so we immediately consulted professional dog trainer and behaviouralist and have had a wonderful experience with my boy. Hard to walk him cuz he’s so lazy he’s rather sit in
Only 2000 exemptions applied for!...There are many more thousands of these dogs in the community!....i'm a dog lover who sadly supports the ban...of course the idiots who want a big mean looking status symbol dog will move on to another breed, probably the Cane Corso....God help us all!...🐕

Does this make sense to anyone? We never heard anything about XL bully attacks until last year, then suddenly a very popular dog starts killing people at random? It just doesn't make sense! Why haven't we been seeing attacks for decades? I cannot and refuse to believe that a breed will suddenly become dangerous when they have been here for decades without issue! I believe this is the Tories scoring a cheap political point; telling the people "look, these dogs killed kids and we banned them, vote for us"... This is a scapegoat dog, the Tories picked a big dog breed and decided top make them a monster so they can be seen as the heroes saving the day with a ban! I have never had issues with XL's, it's elderly people with Collies who pose the biggest threat, having working dogs they cant walk properly because they are in a mobility scooter or on a walking stick... If ANY breed of dog attacks, arrest the owner and jail them, make examples of the owners! I have a Staffy and I am more than comfortable to stand behind the idea as I know my dog has been trained properly, he has been raised around other dogs, kids and adults his entire life, he's 5 and has never once shown his teeth in anger, he's a teddy bear and I will happily see a law come in that sees the owner locked up if they refuse to train, or train their dogs badly...

So this means the owners who already own the banned breed dog is well trained and is safe

The Government seems inept at pros ecuting and preventing FGM of thousands of girls, do don't hold out much hope of prosecuting un licienced dog owners. However we live in hope.
The UK obsession with pet dogs ( evolved wolves) is in itself rather weird. ( guide dogs and sheep dogs exempt.)

The XL Bully also known as the 'American Bully XL' ,is a crossbreed developed by mixing various types of dogs, the American Pit Bull Terriers and the American Staffordshire Bull Terriers back in the 80s in the States of America. The XL bully was genetically engineered through breeding for one purpose and that was designed to go in to a pit and kill another dog They have been inbred for muscular features and have a high aggressive prey drive, which is why they always go for the throat. They are not 'catch dogs' as you said, 'Catch dogs' are collies who herd livestock.
And if it has a muzzle on and it manges to get away from u and there's another dog with out a muzzle on same breed u no have lost your dog because it carnt protect it self
