Sama2... overflow ini nampak mudah untuk dibina..tetapi ramai viewer yg cuba buat overflow ini mempunyai masalah untuk bagi dia berfungsi dengan sempurna, so kalau ada apa2 masalah nanti...bagi tau je..ataupun sy mungkin akan cuba buat video baru dengan menggunakann pipe lutsinar supaya boleh nampak apa sedang berlaku dibahagian dalam pipe.
Tahniah. It actually works as promised. Good design, better than most others on the internet. I have tried many of them (from all over the world) and have not been satisfied; either the flow rate is too low, or has design problems. Great for hobbyists. I am waiting for your Mark 2 to try it out.

@@TheStreamAffair My feedback. Flow is very good until the siphon break. But when the overflow restarts after then tank fills up, the flow rate drops. Can I fix this by adjusting the height of the siphon break outlet? Any suggestions?
The overflow should recover the full siphon after a while as it needs to purge the air from the pipe first. Best is to use a smaller size siphon break so that less time is taken to remove the air in it.
hello! I have watched so many of your videos and made several of your different PVC overflow setups on my various aquariums. I'm working on this one now and my difficulty is in determining the height of the siphon break pipe. I know you pause the video at 7m28s and show a water line, but the perspective is hard to tell if the bottom of the siphon break pipe should be at the height of the middle of the T, the top or the bottom? I have a prototype that I built last night with the pipe opening roughly at the middle of the T pipe and it seems to stop and start fine, so I was wondering how critical the height is from your experience. thanks for your time! have a great day. It also appears you have a reducer on the siphon break from 25 to 20mm pipe. Is that correct, if so, why? Thanks!

Checkout the other video. I made one using acrylic pipe so its transparent. You will understand better by seeing how the water flows inside the overflow. Its easy to make but difficult to prime the overflow properly if you dont understand how the overflow works.

Secara teori blh..tapi bila buat camtu, masa utk overflow auto restart mungkin akan makan lagi banyak masa. So kena pastikan saiz sump tank cukup besar utk pump air balik ke main tank dan overflow blh auto restart .. kalau tidak nanti sump tank dah kering tapi overflow tak jalan balik

Yes i think a 25mm (msian standard) will support ur 3000L/H pump. Two might be overkill. You could add a T connector for a surface skimmer but you need to ensure not too many bubble gets traps in ur overflow which may result in breaking the siphon and cause failure in your overflow.
Seams nice and compact. I got issues tho. I can't get it to kickstart any good, it runs for a few seconds then shut off even before the siphonbreaker starts to suck air. I have tried all your tips in the comment section and in the acrylic pipe video but nothing works. I have it dryfited atm with tape to seal from air leaking in.

thanks for the kind words. do checkout my other video where I made using Acrylic material. It will help show you how the water flows inside the piping and help you understand why the overflow may not work. This overflow is easy to build but also one of the hardest to get it working.

Thats around 13.6K L/H which is alot!! Yes the shorter pipe/siphon breaker will also siphon water during normal operation. You will definitely need bigger diameter paip to be able to handle this load. I'm sorry, I wont be able to advice exactly what diameter size you should use because I don't need such huge flow rate to begin with. But the bigger the pipe, means the more air is inside the pipe which needs to be sucked out for the overflow to be fully operational after a power cut.
Hi, I try to set up system with 4 aquariums each 250l, but I have problem setting up restart of system. I use 25 mm pipes and water level from stop to working is changing,like this is possible pump to stay without water.

I dont recommend to have surface skimmer in this design. If too many bubbles gets trap in the overflow, it will stop functioning. I have a separate overflow design that is meant for surface suction, you can check it out.
What a great vid!!! It helps me a lot... But I have a question... My syphon stops but it doesn't continue working after the break... I think I'm setting wrong the breaking point. Should it to be higher then the lower T or at he same level???
It can be slightly higher or same level as T but never lower than T. Buzz me at facebook messenger (look for the same name) and share ur video/pic so that I can help figure out what is wrong with ur setup.

Blh je...time restart utk full siphon akan lambat sikit je. Sbb paip besar, ruang udara pun banyak sikit, so akan ambik masa sedikit utk keluarkan udara.
Berapa kadar aliran pump 30W kamu? Kalau kadar aliran pump lebih rendah..kamu kena adjust kadar aliran overflow je..ball valve kena control, kasi tutup sikit sampai dia balance..air turun kena sama dgn air naik semula ke tank kamu.
There is no suction happening from the bigger pipe which is till the bottom of tank resulting into no poop collection from bottom of tank. Only the small pipe at top seems to cleaning the top surface. Will you be able to help if I did anything wrong? Or it the way it should be working

It has to be removed once the longer pipe is primed, just like what i shown in the video. Leaving the end cap on will be disastrous as the siphon will not break if the end cap at the shorter pipe is left on.
If i want to run when it on off pump, i want the high of water in aquarium only diferent 1cm or 2cm, pump on water up (only add high 1cm water) or when pump off, water only down 1cm and the overflow go off instanly. So in the sump filter chamber under the tank not overload water. Tks. Nice diy👍🏻
Hi there Hendra, I cannot guarantee that the overflow will work as per your requirement whereby you only want to have a difference of 1CM when the overflow is functioning and when the pump is stop. There are many factors that will affect the time taken for the overflow to achieve full siphon. If more time is required then the height level difference will increase too. Also, what is your tank size? To avoid overflowing your sump tank, you need to calculate the volume of water displacement and ensure your sumptank can handle it. If you have a 10 feet tank but only a 2 feet sumptank, which may not be sufficient enough to handle the water displacement. Maybe we can connect in facebook, so its easier to share images/videos to ease our communications.

Tujuan pipe pendek untuk berhentikan sedutan air- siphon break. Pipe panjang masih berisi dengan air..so apabila pump berjalan semula..paras air akan naik balik dan sedutan air akan berlaku semula..apabila segala udara di paip pendek disedut dan paip pendek penuh dengan air..full siphon akan berlaku dan sedutan air akan jalan balik.

Hi there, are you referring to your source of water is actually dripping to your main tank and you want to fix this overflow to prevent your water from overflowing out? Then answer is yes, it will work. As long as there is a difference between the water level in the main tank and the overflow, then whatever excess water will flow out from the overflow. However this is subject to the overflow being fully primed with water.
I did follow everything but does not work for me. Made 5 all no good. I just modify it by adding airline 2 inches from the bottom of pipe that suck in bottom.

I tried this overflow system and it works perfectly on the first start. But the problem is when i test the fail safe or power out the siphon did not work again. What is the best solution? Thank you.

Most likely your overflow is not properly primed, thats why the restart didnt work. If you are still facing issue with the overflow. Is it from the shorter pipe? If yes, it means ur return pump flow is slower than ur overflow. Try to close ur overflow ball valve slightly so that the water level is higher than ur shorter pipe. This will help remove the noisy sound.

If using the same size pvc across all overflows, the poop separator design have the best flow. But the advance overflow can match the poop separator if you do double piping using one overflow.
I didn't measure but it is confirm better than the advance. Because the pipe dont need to be reduced to a smaller size. And yes, I still help ppl do it if needed.

Love the design. I do have a question though. What is the point of going from 32mm to 20mm for the intake from the tank and from 20mm to 15mm for the siphon break and should I keep a similar ratio for my overflow? I am planning a overflow where the majority of the piping would be 40mm, should I have a 60mm intake and a 30mm siphon break? I am planning an overflow of this size because I need a flow rate of 3000-3700 LPH (forgive me if my units are a bit off, I live in the U.S. and all of our stuff is marketed in inches and gallons)
Its merely for cosmestic purposes to reduce from 32mm to 20mm. And for the shorter pipe the reason I made it smaller is because the smaller the pipe the less air is trapped inside. Means lesser time it will take for the overflow to suck out the air during the restart. A 40mm pipe diameter is very big already and definitely can support 3700 LPH.
@@TheStreamAffair thanks for the swift reply! Would you recommend going down to 32mm from 40mm for my primary size? I was going with the 40mm because I figured I would be better off with more than enough potential drainage that I could then reduce if needed with the ball valve than not enough.
I guess 32mm is more than enough to support the required flow rate. Yes, you can have a bigger diameter piping and reduce the flow rate by adjusting the ball valve. Ultimately it depends on ur own liking. Do you like having big pipes in ur aquarium or not?

Tuan boleh x bagi ukuran utk aquarium 4 x 1.5. saya buat x berjaya. Air boleh sedut keluar tapi bila nak restart semula tu tak berjaya secara automatik.
Kamu try tengok video saya yang lagi satu di mana saya saya pakai paip yang lutsinar. Overflow tak jalan secara automatik sebab air tak sedut dari paip panjang kot.
First u need to check the size of pipe you have used and determine the max flow rate from the overflow. Then you need to check your flowrate of your return pump. For such design, both return and siphon needs to match. If your overflow has right flowrate than your pump, you can adjust the flowrate by controling it with your ball valve. But if ur overflow max flowrate is lower than your return pump flowrate, then this will not work. You could put a ball valve at the return flow to control it but it will hurt ur pump in the long run.

If I have my filter tank sitting above the main tank (on ground level), can I use this method to run the 'filter tank' overflow back to the lower tank? Thank you
Normally main tank is above and sump tank is below. In ur case, you are saying ur filter tank is positioned at above and ur main tank is below? I guess it doesn't matter and should work. Only thing is u need u to place ur return pump in ur main tank instead of ur filter tank. Paip pendek ada tersumbat tak? Klu paip pendek tu tertutup, udara tak dapat masuk, so siphon tak blh break.menyebabkan air akan terus sedut sampai paras paip panjang.
Tak perlu, sama saiz dgn 20mm pun boleh. Sy kecik kan sebab ini akan kurangkan masa utk sedut keluar udara dari pipe kedua(pendek) bila overflow restart.

The T connector controls the height of the water. Nope it will not work if u are using smaller pipe like an air hose.

Secara teori blh..tapi bila buat camtu, masa utk overflow auto restart mungkin akan makan lagi banyak masa. So kena pastikan saiz sump tank cukup besar utk pump air balik ke main tank dan overflow blh auto restart .. kalau tidak nanti sump tank dah kering tapi overflow tak jalan balik

Yes i think a 25mm (msian standard) will support ur 3000L/H pump. Two might be overkill.
You could add a T connector for a surface skimmer but you need to ensure not too many bubble gets traps in ur overflow which may result in breaking the siphon and cause failure in your overflow.
Seams nice and compact. I got issues tho. I can't get it to kickstart any good, it runs for a few seconds then shut off even before the siphonbreaker starts to suck air. I have tried all your tips in the comment section and in the acrylic pipe video but nothing works. I have it dryfited atm with tape to seal from air leaking in.
It’s always like that. It is easy to build and it’s difficult to get it working if you missed or did certain step differently.

thanks for the kind words. do checkout my other video where I made using Acrylic material. It will help show you how the water flows inside the piping and help you understand why the overflow may not work. This overflow is easy to build but also one of the hardest to get it working.

Yes the shorter pipe/siphon breaker will also siphon water during normal operation.
You will definitely need bigger diameter paip to be able to handle this load. I'm sorry, I wont be able to advice exactly what diameter size you should use because I don't need such huge flow rate to begin with.
But the bigger the pipe, means the more air is inside the pipe which needs to be sucked out for the overflow to be fully operational after a power cut.

Hi, I try to set up system with 4 aquariums each 250l, but I have problem setting up restart of system. I use 25 mm pipes and water level from stop to working is changing,like this is possible pump to stay without water.

can you add some surface skimmer?
I dont recommend to have surface skimmer in this design. If too many bubbles gets trap in the overflow, it will stop functioning. I have a separate overflow design that is meant for surface suction, you can check it out.

What a great vid!!! It helps me a lot... But I have a question... My syphon stops but it doesn't continue working after the break... I think I'm setting wrong the breaking point. Should it to be higher then the lower T or at he same level???
It can be slightly higher or same level as T but never lower than T. Buzz me at facebook messenger (look for the same name) and share ur video/pic so that I can help figure out what is wrong with ur setup.

Berapa kadar aliran pump 30W kamu? Kalau kadar aliran pump lebih rendah..kamu kena adjust kadar aliran overflow je..ball valve kena control, kasi tutup sikit sampai dia balance..air turun kena sama dgn air naik semula ke tank kamu.
There is no suction happening from the bigger pipe which is till the bottom of tank resulting into no poop collection from bottom of tank. Only the small pipe at top seems to cleaning the top surface. Will you be able to help if I did anything wrong? Or it the way it should be working
Check this video out. I purposely made a transparent version to show how water flow inside the overflow. Try the tips that I mentioned in the video and it should help solve your problem.

It has to be removed once the longer pipe is primed, just like what i shown in the video. Leaving the end cap on will be disastrous as the siphon will not break if the end cap at the shorter pipe is left on.

If i want to run when it on off pump, i want the high of water in aquarium only diferent 1cm or 2cm, pump on water up (only add high 1cm water) or when pump off, water only down 1cm and the overflow go off instanly. So in the sump filter chamber under the tank not overload water. Tks. Nice diy👍🏻
For the case ☝🏻, can i more short cut the second outflow (short pipe outflow) in the tank. More high than water level opposite out the tank?
Hi there Hendra, I cannot guarantee that the overflow will work as per your requirement whereby you only want to have a difference of 1CM when the overflow is functioning and when the pump is stop.
There are many factors that will affect the time taken for the overflow to achieve full siphon. If more time is required then the height level difference will increase too. Also, what is your tank size? To avoid overflowing your sump tank, you need to calculate the volume of water displacement and ensure your sumptank can handle it. If you have a 10 feet tank but only a 2 feet sumptank, which may not be sufficient enough to handle the water displacement.

Tujuan pipe pendek untuk berhentikan sedutan air- siphon break.
Pipe panjang masih berisi dengan air..so apabila pump berjalan semula..paras air akan naik balik dan sedutan air akan berlaku semula..apabila segala udara di paip pendek disedut dan paip pendek penuh dengan air..full siphon akan berlaku dan sedutan air akan jalan balik.

Hi there, are you referring to your source of water is actually dripping to your main tank and you want to fix this overflow to prevent your water from overflowing out? Then answer is yes, it will work. As long as there is a difference between the water level in the main tank and the overflow, then whatever excess water will flow out from the overflow. However this is subject to the overflow being fully primed with water.
I did follow everything but does not work for me. Made 5 all no good. I just modify it by adding airline 2 inches from the bottom of pipe that suck in bottom.

You should have checked my above video out. It will show you why ur overflow is not sucking water from the longer pipe. There is a simple solution to it.

Hi there. I suggest you check out this video too. This is a transparent version so you can see what is going on inside the overflow. Most likely your overflow is not properly primed, thats why the restart didnt work. If you are still facing issue with the overflow. Is it from the shorter pipe? If yes, it means ur return pump flow is slower than ur overflow. Try to close ur overflow ball valve slightly so that the water level is higher than ur shorter pipe. This will help remove the noisy sound.

Tak galakkan untuk sambung surface skimmer ke diy overflow..jika setup salah, kemungkinan besar overflow akan tidak berjalan dgn betul.

@@RaihanZidan boleh je. Paip lagi besar, air yang disedut lagi banyak. Kalau terlalu cepat dia sedut..pakai ball valve untuk control kadar aliran air.

Hi bro, just want to know. Which one of your overflow systems have the best flowrate. I want to pair it with my 5000 l/h pump.
If using the same size pvc across all overflows, the poop separator design have the best flow. But the advance overflow can match the poop separator if you do double piping using one overflow.
This beginner overflow also have good flow rate.

I didn't measure but it is confirm better than the advance. Because the pipe dont need to be reduced to a smaller size.

Its up to u to decide what pump to use. I wont be able to comment on that. The bigger the pipes the better the flow rate will be for the overflow.

Love the design. I do have a question though. What is the point of going from 32mm to 20mm for the intake from the tank and from 20mm to 15mm for the siphon break and should I keep a similar ratio for my overflow? I am planning a overflow where the majority of the piping would be 40mm, should I have a 60mm intake and a 30mm siphon break? I am planning an overflow of this size because I need a flow rate of 3000-3700 LPH (forgive me if my units are a bit off, I live in the U.S. and all of our stuff is marketed in inches and gallons)
Its merely for cosmestic purposes to reduce from 32mm to 20mm.
And for the shorter pipe the reason I made it smaller is because the smaller the pipe the less air is trapped inside. Means lesser time it will take for the overflow to suck out the air during the restart.
A 40mm pipe diameter is very big already and definitely can support 3700 LPH.
@@TheStreamAffair thanks for the swift reply! Would you recommend going down to 32mm from 40mm for my primary size? I was going with the 40mm because I figured I would be better off with more than enough potential drainage that I could then reduce if needed with the ball valve than not enough.
I guess 32mm is more than enough to support the required flow rate. Yes, you can have a bigger diameter piping and reduce the flow rate by adjusting the ball valve. Ultimately it depends on ur own liking. Do you like having big pipes in ur aquarium or not?

1. Tidak perlu prime lagi...fungsi overflow ni adalah utk berjalan secara automatik bila air naik dan tinggi daripada paras overflow dan berhenti pada paras yg ditetapkan

I tried this method but outlet water capacity is less. My Returning pump section empty because to less water. Pls Suggest.
First u need to check the size of pipe you have used and determine the max flow rate from the overflow. Then you need to check your flowrate of your return pump. For such design, both return and siphon needs to match. If your overflow has right flowrate than your pump, you can adjust the flowrate by controling it with your ball valve. But if ur overflow max flowrate is lower than your return pump flowrate, then this will not work. You could put a ball valve at the return flow to control it but it will hurt ur pump in the long run.

I did and it works fine but after restarting the water flow is very weak not enough for the pump to go up to the tank causing overflow.
You might want to change the height of ur overflow, make it lower so that the water wont overflow out
Yep. Overflow worked, but a long pipe of overflow isn't work , a short pipe of overflow is strong work.

If I have my filter tank sitting above the main tank (on ground level), can I use this method to run the 'filter tank' overflow back to the lower tank? Thank you
Normally main tank is above and sump tank is below. In ur case, you are saying ur filter tank is positioned at above and ur main tank is below? I guess it doesn't matter and should work. Only thing is u need u to place ur return pump in ur main tank instead of ur filter tank.

Paip pendek ada tersumbat tak? Klu paip pendek tu tertutup, udara tak dapat masuk, so siphon tak blh break.menyebabkan air akan terus sedut sampai paras paip panjang.
