I have bought all my previous cameras used.. Canon 10D -> 5D -> 1Dxmk2, but now I did got new R8 from BF sales.. dirt cheap, but I hate it. Too small... and unusable, just like all other new stuff nowdays. Yei. :D (Hopefully will love it some day, but I doubt it.) Thanks for the videos, love them. :)
Markus looking for 6-bit lol. I've got great pop older Nikon glass but they didn't give me a way to auto-focus it on Z mount yet. Got the 50 1.4Z , 85mm 1.4G, 105mm 1.4E, 200mm F2 V1 and 70-200 VR E FL 2.8 along with 24-120 4 Z for now. 105 DC 2 , 180mm 2.8, 300mm 2.8 relegated to D780 and D600.
I have the Nikkor Z 26mm f2.8. It's a fun still photography lens. But it's pricey and the 28mm f2.8 is much cheaper (and more silent/faster with AF). The 26mm is fine for video though I have never tried vlogging with it. I also have the 40mm F2. It's fine lens too, cheap, but it's plasticky (lens mount). I don't have the 50mm f1.4 to compare it to, but I do have the legendary 50mm f1.8s and the 50mm is much sharper, especially wide open. But the 40mm is still "good enough" for stills. I've never used it for video though.
I totally agree about renting. Maybe rent if you’re thinking of buying a real high-end camera that cost thousands of dollars, that might be a good idea, but overall it’s better to find a deal and take a chance. I found a GH5 for $475 at a store, with a full warranty, and so I figured, why not? I needed a second camera, my main camera is an S5, I had never used micro 4/3 before, but I knew the GH5 was legendary, so I thought let me find out how legendary it is. It’s a great camera. I don’t have many lenses for it, and I only use it when I absolutely need a second camera, but for $475, The quality I get out of it is amazing. No way I would have ever rented a GH5 to see if I should buy one. :-) And yeah… I don’t use autofocus. Sue me. 😉🎥
The 40mm looks so good outside. Worth keeping just for that. You could probably skip the z 50mm altogether and just adapt the Zeiss 55mm for studio shots. I can’t get it to autofocus and fringer said they done have a fix for it, but if you’re willing to manually focus I have a Canon EF 200mm mark 1 I’d be willing to donate to the cause. Not sure what you would use it for.
It all comes down to the look youre looking for. You can reduce the aperture on the 50mm which makes it a better lens, because you have more options. Even still that 40mm is so light and small that justifies having them both.
I'm pretty sure you watch Roman Fox's stuff. Did you see that he announced he left Fuji for Sony for his pro work? Although, he's keep the X100VI. That was a long marriage that broke up! This new set is like Valentines Day meets Groundhog Day.. LOL! That 10 bit question guy should get the XS-20 and the 16mm T1.4. I like the 40mm look. Thanks for the fun this morning. Have a rockin' day!
I've got pretty satisfied with vr jiggles correction on Zf since switching it into sports mode. Normal gives more stable long exposition stills though. Also got no problem with zebras since I adjusted it, but indeed it needed some learning on my side.
You should compare 8 bit with Flat Profile (and slight grade) to the 12bit raw or Nlog. The 50/1.4 looks great but i prefer 40mm. Would like to see some 28mm lenses too since I prefer that over 24.
Thank you for review of Z50mm f1.4. Got the Z40mm and Z5 for photography and was wondering what may be missing as have some old OM lenses notably here a 55mm f1.2. Thinking will save my $. Question: Have an old em5ii and only M43 wide is a Panasonic 12-32. Setup isn’t exactly light weight and 9mm would be a little heavier still. Would be better for vlog to get LeicaPan 9mm f1.7 or forget the em5ii and just go with a DJI Pocket3? Haven’t seen your comments on the 9mm except the video before it was released regarding its expected flaws about 2 years ago. Understand that uncorrected it has a lot of barrel distortion. Does that help or hurt stabilized warpy corners? Can lens corrections be turned off in video so that it would act better in the corners by being more like the fisheye which you praised in the same video but hopefully without crazy horizons or am misunderstanding. Love your content especially your boardroom dramatics. FYI Thinking if Gerald were to review your current apartment/studio he’d say go higher on the kelvin/blue but in the background…no?
He doesn't know it yet at 3:50 but The Locksmith™ is waiting outside. Maybe I'll delve into a Nikon system one day. I like the image and color science. I am still a Canon guy all the way. I think I like the Nikkor Z 50mm T1.4 with the filter is the best.
wait wait WAAAIT! Kai W Did a review 6 years ago and concluded 40mm is the right choice. He has so much influence that Contact camera soon after released a 40mm fixed focal length point and shoot. Come on man, get with it. Merry Xmas🎄
It‘s a good take, vintage look here we go, but all these lenses aren‘t weather proof. I live in germany and half of the year it‘s cold, dark, we got high humidity, rain/snow and wind. I can‘t use a plastic lense without weather sealing, so i need S lenses. It is, what it is
If Panasonic GH8 came out with 4k 480p RAW with laser autofocus, face detect and animal detect modes in that speed. And an all new Panasonic 400mm F2.8 prime lens, how likely would you be to return to Panny boi? Toshiyuki Tsumura is crying because you wont accept Panasonic into your heart.
8bit: you just have exposure off and contrast+ blacks way too high, that's all. In fact, looking at your sweaty forehead, you are blowing off highless much LESS on 8bit than on 12bit and that's EVEN BEFORE you turn down contrast and black levels. 8bit rocks!

The set design is so beautiful. Dollar store lights make any space charming.
It’s not only the lights,it’s the extra effort he put into arranging them with such precision, just perect.
Kasey, what’s with the grinding sound in the background? I think it’s the Locksmith doubling up on the chains in the basement.
Grinding background sound in all the videos. I think this is coming from dozen Chinese guys working on the basement manufacturing 3D pop lenses.
Dying PC fans.
That Markus bit was hilarious. Awesome video as always
Now we need the top Fujifilm lenses for 3D pop/micro contrast!
I sold 40f2 when 50f1.4 was announced, thinking, to get it instead. I think, I'll buy back 40mm, it's a sweet little lens.
Who’s sanding a vintage walnut bedside table in the background?
Casey thanks for the daily dose of laughter. Loving these comparison videos.
Another thing that excites me about hunting deals is not paying taxes.
Even Demon LUT looks better in 12-bit RAW

Could filming in 30 fps perhaps help a bit to counter camera shake?
Can we get a Live stream with you walking around doing what you do?
I've been watching a lot of Johnny Strides lately, I miss Toronto.
Thanks

What is that background hum? Your light's fan? P.S. the 12 bit RAW footage is obviously better. Standard vs Rich Tone are virtually identical.
My computer is dying.
A 4060 is pretty good and much cheaper than a 4090
@@cameraconspiracies You're way overdue for a PC upgrade anyway.

@cameraconspiracies forgot to use voice isolation to hide his Toneh shirt manufacturing plant going on in his apartment.

The Nikkor 50mm f1.4 almost looks like the Toneh is swirling. Have you found it to be swirly?
That Z Mount 28mm 2.8 had the most 3D POP of any lens I've seen you test. But I guess I'm just seeing things
I've got pretty satisfied with vr jiggles correction on Zf since switching it into sports mode. Normal gives more stable long exposition stills though.

Love it! Couldn’t agree more about the hunt of the bargain! Just got my z6iii as mail order return with a small fortune off the “new” price
As always top notch bad a.... Casey
What exactly is a Fuji lifestyle?
Do you think you could handle Leica level 3D pop?
You should compare 8 bit with Flat Profile (and slight grade) to the 12bit raw or Nlog. The 50/1.4 looks great but i prefer 40mm. Would like to see some 28mm lenses too since I prefer that over 24.
Actually standard picture profile with less contrast might be somewhat close to raw
You should find Brimstone and Treacle with Sting.

It's a great lens, that or pocket 3 would both be good. Need digital stabe to correct warpy corners, it crops a lot.
When ever I see the words "Toneh ", I crack up every time LOL 😅 Jokez!
Thinking about getting the Sony APS-C 11mm for my building videos please advise
But you already got it and made a video about it 😅

You look lovely this morning - this was shot on the C70 is my guess. Edit: Nikon, huh? It's like Elvin magic.
Glad someone else thinks Nikon assist tools are garbage. I sold my zf because of it.
I have just bord the TTartisan 75mm f:2.0 for my Nikon z8, just for fun. Can't wait to see if there are some pop😂
I'd tone down the sharpness a bit but otherwise, you have quite the cinematic living room.

i find 40mm f2 4k 12bit raw the best.
40mm slightly better skin color... 50mm better head proportions of course (slightly)
8 bit is awful
Some of the 80's and 90's zeiss glass has some atrocious bokeh. It's so hard edged chunky weirdness
