@@Robert53area If you do your job right in bvr you should almost never merge. You might get close but a merge is bad. Also bvr is way more advanced in real life these days
@@Robert53area : It's pretty accurate. In reality you have a fleet either defending or attacking on your side. You'll almost never ever get ordered to go head in until last bullet unless all other opportunities are spent. Fighters and pilots are scarce resources. You don't spend them on a whim. In reality, merges almost never happen. GS plays them because it's the style of the game, not because it's reality. It's exactly why the F-35 is designed the way it is. You can't force a merge for guns and short range missiles if the other side still wields something like Meteors. And usually you'll sling your last shot, light up the engines and go full speed for cover, hoping he will follow you into SAM range or buddies. Best part is that my uncle flew F-5's during the war and until the end for the VNAF when they ran out of fuel and munitions. I had another uncle who flew A-37 Dragonfly's during the war as well, until they ran out of fuel and munitions.
The F-5 is such a fun little plane. I think if people were asked to draw a jet fighter on a piece of paper, most would probably draw something that looks like an F-5.
Gotta love the after combat "debrief" @16:31 NICE GUNNERY! D@mn! God shooting Tex! ;) Good stuff. "My" NY Islanders hockey team are losing to their rivals tonight so I came back to this video. Was not disappointed.
That was one of your best videos, so intense! I hope we get to see more of these! Although I'm afraid you're going to have a hard time finding many real people to fight against, you and Longshot are just too good 😉
Good fights man. This is one of my personal favorite fights to hop on and fly, migs can be very dangerous, but the freedom fighter just feels so good to fly.
6:46 - Nothing adds to the ambience of a Vietnam era dogfight like the sound of an incoming text message! Fun fight. I've always been a fan of the plucky little F-5. I don't think it ever got the respect it was due.
The Dogfight/Resume Search Switch is super helpful in the F-5. Its the only way I've found the radar useful haha. DG is for guns and DM for missiles, if I remember correctly. It helped me so much when I figured out how to use them correctly. Hope this helps someone out thats learning the F-5. Lol. Loving the new content btw
@@timonsolus When South Vietnam surrendered in 1975, the US had not delivered the weapons, making the aircraft incapable of combat. Later they were fitted with Soviet bombs to conduct ground attacks against Khmer Rouge.
I very much enjoy watching the team dog fights. More realistic with a wingman and allows more tactics and learning. I'd like to see this fight again but with 4 human pilots rather than AI.
I wanna see more double dogfights man! It's certainly a good rush of adrenaline especially when you have a teammate to help out.. Now im already seeing you in an F-4 lols.. Nice one GS!! 👌👌
Great teamwork. For those high angle shots you can uncage the seeker head once you get the initial track and it'll hold track better. Also allows you to lead the shot for a better chance at hitting.
Hey man I was watching one of your old videos it’s nice to see you improve slowly with your great content your vids help me understand the game a bit better too( keep it up)
Been following a couple months now and really like the 2 vs 2 dogfights as opposed to bvr. Can’t wait to see you and longshot go up against “live” opponents!
The analysis you do at the end to recap the fights, is that part of DCS or a third party program. Awesome videos btw my son and I have learned a lot ))))
If you are trying to use gunfire tracers to distract an opponent to distract them from a friendly(13:32), it might help to fire in front of them rather than behind so they would see the tracers fired at them.
I recommend binding missile ungage if you haven't. Also, you have a radar assisted gunsight. Any particular reason you aren't using it? Preference perhaps?
I know you said you didn't like it, but those shots around minute 3:00 and a bit earlier would definitely have been a kill just using the radar controlled sight, let alone the ammo wasted if it were a "real" environment within an actual mission

This was an exciting and interesting dogfight but I wonder.... what would happen if this was a fight between Python-4 armed F-5Es and R-73 armed MiG-21s.
Tactical question here: Once you slotted in behind the bandit, would calling for Longshot to reverse his turn be a good idea? What I mean is, knowing the engagement times of the R60M, Longshot should easily get out of the WEZ, while probably getting the MiG to stop the turn, and roll, giving you extra time to ensure an almost straight Fox-2. At least that's what the scenario plays out like in my head. Or am I thinking too much about it, and instead just probably gonna get my Wingman killed per this hypothetical scanario?
I see what you're saying but asking anyone to reverse a turn if the bandit will not overshoot will get your wingman killed, but yes, it will give you an easy kill on the bandit, but ya at the price of your wingman.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Thanks for the reply. I do see what you mean. Anything else I'm imagining in my head involves too much setup to be viable anywhere but my imagination. Or Ace Combat... Congrats on the sponsored video
Hey growing to use any different shaders than the standard ones? Your visuals look breathtaking and I just wanted to know how you got them.
We want to see battle between Tejas vs JF-17
Longshot: "I got one on my six, chasing."
GS: "They're both on your six chasing."
LOL!
There’s a lot more pressure when you are trying to save your teammate
Agreed.
especially when he sounds like hes g-straining for his life
The Mig 21 might have the most character of any module. It tries to kill you in every way possible, and I love it!
Maybe the AI use a russian way of thinking, like being too angry to die(attack of the dead man)
"Aerial Dark Souls" indeed
In reality, this is exactly the case. In the fictional one invented by the pindoses, F5 is cooler !!!
It's fights like this that prove that dogfighting is way cooler than BVR
Sure. But IRL nobody is going to go: "Wait for the merge please! You rude bastard!"

awesome video. could you do the reverse role (you in the migs) in round 2?
You need to do this with human opponents! This is awesome. Also with the 1975 Mig 21 Bis with the R-60s is more Angola-conflict than Vietnam isn't it
