Hey charlotte! Can you please guide that as a nursing student in nz can we work as an assistance nurse or in aged care just as in australia? What are the requirements to work in aged care ?

Hi lovely, I think in NZ you can work as a health care assistant in most settings including aged care - I remember applying to become an HCA in my second year, but they told me that I either had to complete the HCA course or could wait until I had done my first hospital placement and they would consider me. I think the best thing to do would be contact the employer of the place you want to work at, because they will be able to provide with you with links to the HCA course and answer specific questions. Hope this helps!

After completion of degree in nz, we have to apply for new graduate program for nurses?

It’s not compulsory, you are definitely able to apply for jobs independently, and I think this will be the case more and more now that the hospital based programs have been paused? I think the best thing would be to email ace directly and ask as they’ll have the most up to date information about the NETP situation.
