- As a more aggressive Avatar than Aang, Korra is known for entering the Avatar state quite frequently. Part of this frequency also comes from Korra having a higher level of control while in the state than Aang did in ATLA. Here's every single time she enters the Avatar state in Legend of Korra!

Everyone who chastises Korra for using the Avatar state to win an air scooter race misses the point. Aang in the Avatar state couldn’t control himself, to the point where he almost became an empty vessel of power. Korra in the Avatar state, despite being hotheaded and impulsive outside of it, was in immediate control. It’s almost like their strengths in and outside of the Avatar state were switched.
Korra is 16 and aang Is 12….soo…yea
@@lol4501 i honestly think the show said it best “you’re just a child!” “well, you’re just a teenager!” both were given impossible tasks to save the world as children. if Aang can’t be blamed for his lack of discipline as a goofy energetic little kid, neither should Korra as a moody hormonal teenager. your brain stops developing at the ripe age of 25 lol.
Korra was less experienced at the start of season 2 then Aang for the whole show. Age gap has nothing to do about it. @@lol4501
The music man, the MUSIC!!! Both ATLA and LOK have two of the best soundtracks I´ve ever heard in a TV series!
actually! i NEVER hum soundtracks from tv series but with avatar literally how could i not 😭
And the fights in both and bending in lok are amazing
And it’s like a calming, serious music that plays only when the Avatar enters the Avatar State
the avatar theme is just epic and will always give me chills…sometimes I just need to come back to this video and remind myself how great it is !!
Yes, I agree with you!
exactly the same with me!
This moment at 9:12 is one of my favorites in the show. Zaheer made one fatal flaw in this scene: he saw the Avatar state as only the point when Korra was at her most vulnerable. But it was also when she was at her strongest. Best of all, her connection to the past Avatars being severed, these abilities are purely her own. The knowledge and skills of the past Avatars was lost, and all that we are seeing is Korra's primal instinct to stay alive and fight Zaheer, and I am all here for it.
Also, I'd rather say this on a video where the scene is shown in full, rather than a compilation video, but the comment sections on those videos aren't open there, so...
the fact that she did all that while being poisend
It's not only Korra's abilities being activated in the avatar state post-season-two finale; it's also Raava's power.
This is a huge plot hole giving the pure definition of the avatar state given by Roku in TLA. If Korra's past life connections is broken the should not be, by scrict and pure definition no avatar state anymore. There's no explanation unless we start pulling headcannon. Like myself, who thinks korra lost her comunication, as aang burned his with Roku in the comics, but as long as the avatar is alive there's connection through their past lives.
@@rasul01ravaa is so hot
@@h5y878 In fairness, Korra did essentially retcon the Avatar State as being the Avatar channeling the power of the universe through Raava. Not as compelling as solely being the culmination of thousands of lifetimes of wisdom and experience, but it doesn't invalidate that aspect, either. And as far as we know, Roku did not know Raava existed (same with Kyoshi and Yangchen), so he was defining the Avatar State as far as what he knew it was. We don't really know of any other Avatars beyond Korra and Wan that actually knew Raava's role in the cycle, so it's safe to say their definition of the Avatar State was limited in that they didn't realize HOW they were connected to the cosmic energies of the universe beyond their nascent spirituality.
The sad thing is that given Korra's age, Aang never met his Airbender grandkids.
Aang reborn as Korra so, indirectly he met his grandchildren 😊
@@God-tempest Just as Roku met his 🙂

@@christopherprice9520 Thanks, Captain Obvious.
@@srccde well let's be honest here. The idea that they met their grandkids indirectly is not really logical even by the show's standards.
Korra entering the avatar state is cool and all, but something about Aang’s avatar state with the arrows and everything lighting up is so legendary
Ppl complain because Korra entered the Avatar State to win a race, think of it another way, Korra entered the Avatar state to ask Aang for help while playing with HIS grandchildren!

I wanted her to reunite with old avatars again 😢
I know, It was so tragic😞, that's why Unalaq is her worst enemy. Not the most dangerous one but the one I hate most
She could tbh since the show did say the avatars power is limitless but honestly that's up to the creators to decide

@@ajthegreat1826 exactly, I have this idea for the writers, the next earthbender avatar’s ultimate goal is to restore their past lives using the tree of time, you know since it remembers all
Ik that was so sad. I felt so bad for her. She carried so much guilt & had no one to talk to who fully understood her like the majority of other avatars had :(
Raava speaking to Korra was so cold ‼️

It's the nostalgia clouding their judgment, literally every single sequel gets hate for no reason at this point, it's definitely the nostalgia
"Korra's avatar state is so weak." She literally changed the fabric of spacetime and created another spirit portal.
I think that’s overstretching it a lil bit

Not EVERY Avatar struggles with the Avatar State in the way Aang did. Kyoshi had a remarkably EASY time controlling herself in the Avatar State. Whereas Kuruk struggled with entering AND leaving. Avatar Yangchen could control herself, but the surge of power and extra clarity over her past lives resulted in her becoming calloused and huge displays of bending.
Korra is a bending prodigy, it’s the part of being the Avatar that she naturally and effortlessly excels at. Her control of the Avatar State was a relief because I felt it would be a power she would WANT to really evolve and master.
I’ve noticed that there are more avatar state moments that are NOT in the video
I love Korra and Aang I don't know why they always compare them Aang is literally Korra's past lives they're the same person with different timeline

The scene when she finally gets the poison out makes me so happy. And toph’s “well done korra” makes me tear up 😭 11:12
Has anyone ever noticed that sometimes Avatars seem to be in some kind of trance when in the Avatar State??
@@kayronsousa5817you're wrong bc korra literally mastered the avatar state, aang didn't, which was why his was so op. We see in tlok, that when he learns to control it, it's no longer so op and is similar to how korra uses it.
I only noticed it once, when Korra was fighting zaheer, and he just threw her while she was flying with him on her hands, idk if you get what scene I'm referring to😅 in other cases, she is sane

I think you missed one of Korea’s avatar state moments, the one where she opens the southern portal in 2x02
If I’m the avatar. I’m in avatar state everytime-
Comments are just weeks old. Did they recently removed this from TH-cam kids?
You are the avatar! Remembers she’s the avatar
Correct me if I’m wrong but when the Red Lotus was administering the poison couldn’t Korra just metalbend the poison out in the Avatar State or just go into it beforehand and break out.
Her body instantly reacted to the poison besides she was scared, I don't think she thought of that at the time.
After going into the Avatar State she ripped the chains out of the wall and was able to match the red lotus in her weakened state, she also had some time where Zaheer was running and not fighting to wait out the poison, during that time she could attempt to metalbend at least some of the poison out and even if she didn't have time it’s not like the avatar state has needed time and focus to do advanced bending before like when Aang made the elemental sphere or used the water / air combo to nullify Ozai's fireballs.
@@braddavis8909 understand that's it's film not real life
Is Korra a metal bender? This may be dumb but I don’t remember her doing that

0:47 isn't the Avatar state. energy-bending causes the user's eyes to glow. The lion turtle that taught Aang the move also had it's eyes glow. The glow is because it is powered by the users spirit, whereas the Avatar State is powered by Raava.

Korra is the strongest avatar ever
Korra spirit is supreme of all bending
Spirit is not a physical bender
Or a bender
I like how people power scale the avatars when all the avatars share the same exact power, the skills are different obviously but power no. It’s like how Aang succeeds in air bending over the rest of them while Korra exceeds water bending over the rest of them. The physical elements were easier for Korra to master and the spirituel ones were easier for aang to master. Their even you cant powerscale characters that have the same power and abilities.
I think korra exceeded in earth bending the most, but she loved firebending. I hope she learns lighting bending that would be really on brand for her
Belief(Independent) 13:20
All this talk about korra are we not gonna realize what aang has come from he was literally the last airbender yea he couldn’t metal bend because he was soft so what he didn’t want to fight but if he wanted he could’ve done so much more if it wasn’t for him there wouldn’t be any airbenders his avatar state is the strongest and he is the strongest avatar that ever lived.
People really dont know what theyre talking about, everytime she was "defeated" in the avatar state, it was a plot device, because lets be real she just too op otherwise
I think that lady that asked her if she knew who she was is actually AZULA guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The avatar state in this show doesn't have nearly the same impact in LOK as it did in TLA.
Way too much in LOK that clashes with what came before.
My biggest confusion is.. if the avatar state is accessing all of your past lives abilities but lava bending had just been discovered. So how would korra have knowledge and skill how to lava bend
Maybe some Avatars in past was able to do that. I don't remember correctly but didn't Avatar Roku lavabended in first season?
She didn't lavabend she pushed all the lava with airbending
roku lava bended in his flashback
It's not new lol, it's just a rare sub bending skill. Korra can't lava bend(yet) but I think it'd be on brand for her to be able to.(since she loves fire)

Every time Korra enters the Avatar state would pretty much be like half of the episodes in this series. She did it so much that it took away the prestige and thrill of seeing an Avatar do it. She made the Avatar state not so special anymore. I mean she used it to win a race against a kid? Using it frequently to get mild boosts for her abilities against spirits? Come on.
And spirits are more powerful than humans, with your argument, anytime aangs avatar state was triggered(I use triggered bc he didn't even hv control over it) it was for smth trivial like he was mad(an emotion) not out of necessity.
@@mpteee You were probably only referring to the entire ATLA series when Aang was just a kid, and was pretty much just trying to get the hang of being the Avatar. It's not surprising or expected that he would know full well how to control the Avatar state, not to mentioned that he was pressured to master all four elements in just a year. Aang was no where as old or mature as Korra in her series. You can bet that he could enter the state anytime at will as he got older and more knowledgable as demonstrated in the LOK flashbacks when he fought Yakone.
@@mpteee a lot of spirit entities are indeed more powerful than any bender, that's why you might justify Korra having to use the Avatar state. It's just that Aang almost never needed to enter the Avatar state when fighting or dealing with Spirits, particularly throughout the ATLA series. Just saying. He dealt with them more reasonably and gracefully.

Korra has never won a fight while using the Avatar State and I think that's hilarious.
She won the fight against Vaatu while in the Avatar State. She had defeated him, and then she was gonna lock him away when Unalaq attacked her from behind. She also defeated Zaheer. Korra is the reason Zaheer didn't get away.
@@maviebaby I'm more inclined to give her the W for Vaatu than I am to say that she defeated Zaheer. Jinora is the MVP in the Zaheer fight, Korra was just there, dying from the poison and near suffocation.
She defeated Vaatu. That'a above a firebender I would say.
Please use your brain bc every time she didn't she was nerfed by plot.
Korra's avatar state is so underwhelming
Can't be helped. Ever since Unalaq severed her connection with Aang and other previous Avatars by nearly killing Laava, her Avatar State became weaker than her previous incarnations. The reason why Aang's Avatar State was so powerful during the Last Airbender is because within the Avatar State, not only you can enhance yourself through Laava, but also you gain access to knowledges and powers of previous Avatars as well. There are huge difference between Korra's Avatar state compared to 1~2 seasons and 3~4 seasons. Within 1~2 seasons since she had connection with her previous incarnation, her Avatar State looks more powerful and her combat style was more fluid. in 3~4 seasons, because she lost her connections with previous incarnations, Korra's Avatar State's combat style is more like herself as well as less powerful. If Korra still had connection with her previous lives, I'm sure she could've defeated Zaheer and Colossal controlled by Kuvira with minimum difficulties.
@@garammaru3272 pretty sure she got the connections back in book 4. you guys kinda need to remember Aang only really entered avatar state during emotional intense moments, and in a way, you could say it was just his rage fueled self that was also kinda being controlled by his past lifes, its even more evident in 2 specific moments; the book 2 finale when he lended his body to the spirit of the Sea, and in the series finale. the eldricht multi voice speech he gave to Ozai before nearly smitting him into mush gave it away really.
Korra on the other hand always had full control while on it, she wasnt throwing the full literally godlike streght she had around, she was trying to exert control opver it, and the one time she was literally blinded by rage was also a moment where a deadly metallic poison was quickly destroying her organs, kinda hard to think when you probably feeling yourself getting eroded from inside out and only thinking about killing the guy who did this to you.
@@unkindled6410 She just lost contol in the Avatar State in S3E13
Because she had control over it and not like aang going rage mode since he's still yet mastered it.
@@MCSilverBattlesshe's not lost control.. that's still korra since she has no past lives controlling her when she's in danger.
