As an employee of the company that you (probably) bought it from. Its great to see a customer going to so much trouble for their customer, rather than telling them they'll have to have a ply flush. Lovely workmanship. Great to see. Thank you.
A Joiner generally works in a workshop building joinery items such as doors, windows, stairs, shop fronts and cabinets etc. A Carpenter you will generally find on site cutting roofs and building studwalls etc. You get 1st fix Carpenters and 2nd fix Carpenters. I trained as a traditional Joiner but now mainly do 2nd fix Carpentry.
UK Carpenter & Joiner for 37yrs. Really nice piece of customising, especially doing it on-site. The customer should be properly chuffed with what they got.
Great work, I was wondering how you would cover the seen edge at the top as a hardwood strip would look out of place until I seen the veneer going on. Looks beautiful mate.
Thanks Gavin, I did quite a few normal doors with this one so the cost was spread out over the whole job. But if I was to do this on its own I would definitely charge a full day's labour.
Now you my friend are very good, very professional great to watch I did one 3 weeks ago but not as complex as yours and the customer was so made up as she was always told she would never get a door to fit But I sorted it for her 😊both her & her husband where so great full Iv subscribed too mate Thank you 👍
Thanks Carl much appreciated, its great when we can do what others say is impossible. Im currently doing a Worcester oak mini door, even harder than the normal ones, havent got time to make a full video but will definitely make a short on it so look out for that. Have you got a Facebook or Instagram with your work i can follow? Cheers Ben
@@BNMCarpentry Hi Ben Yes I have mate but I’m so busy mate I literally just don’t have the time plus with being self-employed and working also for my wife’s company she would go absolutely mad if I took longer than I should especially as she calls it Playing on ya phone lol Can’t live with a mate can’t live without them lol
Yes that makes sense. When I cut the side rails of the door offcut I simply kept the margin with the rails. If you have a keen eye you may notice on the video the margins were not on the pieces I cut. This was a mistake and luckily I had the other side I could use. But I didn't record me cutting those sides so what you see in the video is me cutting buts I didn't actually use 😆
Can you tell me if you cut the top point off the door for clearance purposes or if it was already like that? I have a door same situation and I still have the point on the door but as it stands I will be unable to close the door unless I back bevel to top of the door, the other option is to do something similar to what you have done here.
Beautiful door! How did you figure out what angle to trim off the top on the hinge side to get your door to close? I’ve built my own angle door which fits very nicely when I put it straight in but catches when I pivot the door closed. I haven’t been able to hang it yet because of this problem.
No Safety gkasses, yet again, seen so many of these videos, you wont be working once a shard of timber takes your sight, its not hard to wear some safety specs really.
I've been in the game 23 years and I've come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. Dust goes in and around safety glasses and gets in your eyes more than when "unprotected". I also just don't like wearing them and as a self employed carpenter I choose what safety gear to wear and what not too. I always wear ear protection and boots if necessary. I have a full face respirator if I'm doing work where I'm very likely to get shit in my face. I try to use a dust extractor as much as possible too. I've got lots of experience and work as safe and clean as I can wearing glasses is not for me and I will take the risk for the rest of my career as its my choice and nobody tells me what to do. Thanks Ben 👍

Great - just fitted a load of architrave and skirting (DIYer) and the labels are a pain to remove!!! Come on Selco. Thanks for posting. Regards Mike
From one carpenter to another, great job.
Thanks bud, much appreciated 👍
what's the difference between a carpenter and a joiner?
@boo bye Joiner is just a Scottish term, carpenter is English. A bit like Lawyer (American) and solicitor( uk)
Work of art fella. 👍
A Joiner generally works in a workshop building joinery items such as doors, windows, stairs, shop fronts and cabinets etc.

Amazing job pleasure to watch a craftsman at work.
Thanks Adrian 👍

Thanks Carl, much appreciated 👍
Blown away. 👏🏾👏🏾
Thankyou! 😊

Great work, I was wondering how you would cover the seen edge at the top as a hardwood strip would look out of place until I seen the veneer going on. Looks beautiful mate.
Nice result. Many wouldn't want it done once they knew the final cost down my neck of the woods
Thanks Gavin, I did quite a few normal doors with this one so the cost was spread out over the whole job. But if I was to do this on its own I would definitely charge a full day's labour.
Fantastic mate
Thankyou 👍

Got a link for the door handle? Beautiful work!
Thanks John amzn.to/3RZf1na
Fantastic work .how did you form your inside margin at the top above the slots to look like the rest righ round if this makes sense. Thanks
Yes that makes sense. When I cut the side rails of the door offcut I simply kept the margin with the rails.

Here's another one I did you can see it more clearly. th-cam.com/users/shortsFUvdiE7s3RI?si=m_SxXyxHtPPgfrLR
AHH makes sense I've one to do in a few weeks so was wondering. thanks

Thanks Nick.
That was quality
Thanks 😄
Great job, Where do you get your oak veneer from to hide the chipboard ?
Thanks Luke, I just bought a small roll off amazon.
I'm doing one of these tomorrow, how do you get over seeing the chipboard in the end of the middle rails once you've cut them?
Any exposed edges you can just oak veneer with contact adhesive.
Good luck. Let me know how it goes. 👍

Thanks, does yours have the small horizontal piece at the top? Or is it just a long angled line from one side to the other?
@@BNMCarpentry it’s a long angled line.
Ok you need to angle the top angle piece by 45⁰ see my Instagram post for reference.

Yes Southern England 🏴
Tidy job
Thanks bud 👍
brilliant job,but mate those poxy labels 😡
Thank you, John. Haha, they drive me crazy!
Well done. Please look after your ears. You should wear good quality ear protective equipment.
Thanks Khaled, I had ear buds in you can see them in my ears when I was hanging the door. 👍
Just fitted some of these, pretty good door, but why do they insist on putting them feckin stickers on 😡😡😡😡
I know so annoying. Leaves that horrible residue on the edge. 🙁
He was doing so well! Then forgot the pull screws! 🤦🏻♂️
What's a pull screw Joe?
