The col thing is that I think these are their kids in the video. Still years or even decades later Devo remains a creative genius force. All the elements still hold the signature Devo quirk. I love these guys.
You mean Uke *Skywalker* -- and it turned out he wasn't his father after all. Solo was a different character altogether -- a wookiee with a sword I think...
At least 3 times i had sweet dreams of being a 14 years old in a proto Devo show, in the mid 70's, being a dream they played some classics still in the future.
I believe Devo was suffering under contractual issues at the time and couldn't release music under their own name in 2002. And so, The Wipeouters. I loved this album when it came out! Fits into the catalog nicely.
I've wanted the proper lyrics for years. Here's the best I've been able to figure out from listening to the song but there may be a few mistakes, especially the words in [square brackets]. Corrections are welcome. Well I'll be doggoned, if that ain't something, He's the fastest tubby I ever seen. He's got a tiny little surfboard mounted on wheels, and he rides it like a skateboard king. Oh yeah. Well I'll be doggoned, if that don't beat the band, This spud's no Krispy Kreme. With his banged up board and greasy hair-do, He rides it like a probe on speed. Oh hey. Well I'll be hornswoggled, if that ain't something, He's the fastest logger that ever be. Like a bird on a board, he's a wookie with a sword, He skates just like a [fighter in a ring]. Well I'll be brainwashed, if that don't float your boat, This spud's no beauty queen. Gotta keep your meter up, steamroller water pup, He's a bona fide skateboard king. Rocket powered and everything. Let's go. Well hang on to your cow flab, twist and launch, A fatty bongo was the thing. Let him pump your flippers, clap your hands, He's coming, the skateboard king. Oh yeah. Well I'll be doggoned, if that ain't something, He's the fastest tubby I ever seen. He's got a tiny little surfboard mounted on wheels, And he rides it like a skateboard king. Rocket powered and everything. Oh yeah.
Listening to a clearer recording of the song I was hearing the words in your brackets as "black and white in the ring". I'm not saying that makes any sense, I'm just saying that's what I hear. Maybe it's a little closer to the reality of what's there.
Great stuff! Off to get a copy of this. And, at 2:28 it's clear that is not Halle Berry. This video is from about 2001, and Halle Berry in "The Last Boy Scout" in 1991 [to reference her younger self] clearly show it's a different woman. Halle Berry is gorgeous, of course. But, this girl in the video is even prettier.
@MrWoofington Sure, but "Mutato Muzika (which includes most of the Devo members who compose movie and TV scores) as 'The Wipeouters'" would be a really long title!
In my honest opinion, Mutato Muzika and Alternative Tentacles are the most honest, respectable and trustworthy music labels in the history of this planet.
The kids probably represent themselves. When the real members met and formed The Wipeouters,... they were only between 13-15yrs old. Of course it didnt last but they reformed as DEVO,... ther ultimately recorded their first concept songs from way-back in their Wipeouter days!!! Very cool.. Ps. P'Twaaaang is quite weird & good! Its still Surf-Devo.
If you mean the original DEVO, the bassist was always Gerald Casale, and the original drummer was Jim Mothersbaugh, replaced by Alan Meyers. If you mean the Wipeouters, Josh Mancell played drums; there was no bassist--it was Mark on keyboards.
This is older than people really know: anyone else recognize Halle Berry dancing and wiggling,.... way back before she was too young to be anybody in Hollywood!?! Oh yeah!
OK: "he rides a tiny little surfboard mounted on wheels and he rides it like a _____14??? What are the lyrics there, I don't get it, are they referring to some type/style/size of surfboard? Cool song, I was (still am) a BIG Devo fan and I just found the P'Twang album - way cool :-)
The col thing is that I think these are their kids in the video. Still years or even decades later Devo remains a creative genius force. All the elements still hold the signature Devo quirk. I love these guys.
Devo concerts were always some of the best times , RIP Bob Casale
Blows Devo 2.0 out of the water ! RIP Bob 2 !
biggest flex is that my mom is the little hula lady at 2:50
Uke Solo... as performed by Gerald Casale's father.
You mean Uke *Skywalker* -- and it turned out he wasn't his father after all.
Solo was a different character altogether -- a wookiee with a sword I think...
DEVO is everywhere!!
Excellent For My Ears!
Brings back memories
New to me. Just like Jesus said, seek and ye shall find. 🙏
At least 3 times i had sweet dreams of being a 14 years old in a proto Devo show, in the mid 70's, being a dream they played some classics still in the future.
The world needs DEVO now more than ever. Please, please, Spud Boys, do you duty NOW!
I'm with you! Surfin'Rockin'DEVO!*!*
A great side project. Great how these musicians infiltrated so many kid shows to plant the seed of deevolution.
I CARE! DEVO rules!!

Great piece. Funky, fun, surfy Devo is fine.
Great song - hope they do it live.
Love the solo.
Loved it ~
Love The Bass Rift !
Supergeil !
Ja, voll.
Insane genius!
Guess I'm just a spud surfer, looking for the real wave-oh!

Excelente, como siempre. El solo de ukelele.....LOL!!! y cuando he visto el croma con el enano en patinete............a poco me da algo
Mark's voice...

You've gone farther than I have. Maybe "This spud's no Krispy Kreme"?
@@QuarrellaDeVil You might be on to something. I've updated it.
@TheOttoOfJanness Water pup seemed more surfing related.

I'm hearing "he skates it like a gladiator ring." The rest is... challenging.

No one cares Eddy boy.
You're quite correct, Queen City Ave. So, thank you for caring enough to post.
That is F@ckin awsome
This rocks! No Argue People@!

uke solo!
'tiny little surfboard mounted on wheels....' lol
P'twaaang!!! is a fun album!
It's not really a Devo record, it's more of a Mutato Muzika project (which includes most of the Devo members who compose movie and TV scores).
In my honest opinion, Mutato Muzika and Alternative Tentacles are the most honest, respectable and trustworthy music labels in the history of this planet.
Sounds like Love's "My Flash On You"!!
Hahaha I have The Wipeouters CD! It's some great stuff
Only intelligent people like and understand all things Devo... like me. Also I think I'm in love Janice J's avatar as she is so gorgeous !!
Short dude FTW!
Far out!
His voice sounds like Dexter Holland.
that's right

geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek roooooooooooooooooooooooock!
ha, is that the first version of DEVO 2.0???
This is older than people really know: anyone else recognize Halle Berry dancing and wiggling,.... way back before she was too young to be anybody in Hollywood!?! Oh yeah!
Did Bob die?
Ha
mad
This kinda sounds like it could have been an Aquabats! song.
man, Gerry sure loves some chroma key...
Is that a fretless bass?
The other girl is Halle Berry right?
You are so beautiful, Taryn!
Are you by any chance a Suicide Girl?
You could easily be one
OK:

Cool song, I was (still am) a BIG Devo fan and I just found the P'Twang album - way cool :-)
"He rides it like a skateboard king."
I sincerely hope you realize none of that is actually true. There was no such band as the "Wipeouters". The whole back-story is just a joke.
Big mess
Sad there are women wiggling in bikinis. DEVO should be way, way, way above that.
Well, they might be DEVO, but they're also still MEN 💪🏻
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA kritisizm is gud! -pozitivizism is negativ!
that song sucks and i love devo, lol
This is not Devo and is a cheap ripoff of their name...
Well, it's a hell of a lot of DEVO:
abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=107322&page=1
An essential part of the Devo Universe and Devo Approved!
Bless you. Bless you. Bless you.
I don't believe in anything and I do believe you are genius.
