@@beastywolf7296 I get digimon's was to drill the name in kids heads so they kept thinking about it but honestly the guitar from America's dbz intro is one of the most iconic/nostalgic part of the show for me from my youth. Well that and the intro for Gundam Wing.
I always assumed it was because, for the most part, American shows didn't really have intros or had this simple version to give an idea of what the show was about. They rarely had full song openings that had much effort in them or an explanation.
I always figured it was for more time to air ads, since they either cut part of the opening, or all of it, and not the ending

I'll probably feel this way on all their opening reaction videos, but I still shamelessly love the US openings! I'll admit that they aren't usually very nuanced lyric-wise as the others but they have such a fun and rockin' melody. They're especially something intended to immediately catch kid's attention when flipping through channels.
Plus, the late '90s and early '00s. I'm so not sure why that particular aesthetic was so popular for us when we were kids - part of it was the funky/rockin' music, another part was the *WOWAWESOMECOOL* factor of any animation that came with it. For kids, there were lots of bright, in-your-face primary colors and eventually neon-highlighter colors smacked onto anything back then, so that was attractive too. Somehow they made music that was able to capture that "primary color" feel lmao
@@unknowndeoxys00 Yeah, a lot of bold rock and soul themes! Maybe some of that pizzazz is a carryover of the colorful 70s and 80s mixed with the excitement of new technology, haha.

I found it funny that the American openings are so different from the original Japanese, the Latino Spanish version are almost identical to the originals.

디지몬 butterfly 극장판에서 한국어로 나온것도 있는데 진짜 좋아요ㅠㅠ 디지몬 노래중에 이게 제일 좋으뮤ㅠ 그래서 이번에 디지몬tri에서 오프닝으로도 나왔는데 일본어임에도 불구하고 너무 기뻤어요 한가지 아쉬운 점은 풀버젼이 없다는거ㅠㅠㅜ

Butterfly는 한국어 가사 버전도 극장판에서 공개되긴 했는데 일본어 가사 뜻이 어른이 된 지금 (애들일때는 가사뜻을 들어도 제대로 이해를 못하니) 들으면 확실히 더 좋음 번역판보다.
세일러문 오프닝은 진짜 원곡 멜로디 자체가 너무 분위기에 잘맞게 만들어짐.
세일러문 오프닝은 국내판이 좀 더 잘 어울린다고 생각하는데 미국판도 좀 특이하네

its very interesting the japanese and korean versions sounded more fun and adventurous but the american versions felt like they were trying to get you excited for the beginning of the show
I love the spanish (Latin) versions because they are super similar to the Japanese ones.
That happens with names as well, you should look for them with the name of the anime adding an "Español Latino" uwu

Her reactions to these American versions are the funnest part of this. I always wondered if Japanese people were familiar with our completely out there anime openings and what they think of them, considering we grew up with and are familiar with a lot of the Japanese versions.

(포켓몬오프닝차이영상)
한국애니제목이라던가 게임같은거 일본에서 끌어오는거라 발음차이의 이유는 다른 외국 보다는 그냥 일본따라가는게 많아서 그래요. 대표적으로 영상에있는 드래곤볼Z라던가 포켓몬에 에스퍼(영미권은 '사이킥'이라는 단어가 따로있고 에스퍼라는 단어가없어요)타입 같은경우가 있습니다.
한국 디지몬 오프닝 중에서 일본 가사만 해석한 버전도 있습니다
버터플라이는 극장판에서 나오조.. 그래 그리 쉽ㅂ지는 않겠지!!

i felt so embarrassed when digimon english opening came on after hearing the japanese and korean version xD
Lol.. In the Philippines, the intro is usually the same with the Japanese version or they would translate the lyrics to tagalog but would keep the melody. This is also why I don't watch english dubbed versions of an anime. The intros are so different plus the way it is dubbed sometimes makes the emotion lost. I think the only one I watched that was dubbed in English was Samurai X 😊

Man, that was one heck of blast from the past! I grew up with both the English versions and Japanese versions of all the animes except DB and DBZ (I watched DB in Malay while DBZ in English). And that Digimon opening...Brought tears to my adult eyes.
They make me want to watch all my old anime again..

I've only heard the Japanese versions so its interesting to hear the Korean and American versions... what happened America?! Sailor Moon was fine... but Digimon & Dragon Ball... like what happened?!

Yea but you do that the English opening for sailor moon, digimon and Pokemon is very liked and nostalgic. It's a lot of fan favorites,even if you never watched dub
@Gabriel Most English dub openings have very bad lyrics, but that's what makes them charming (in a way). Do you know the Yu-Gi-Oh one? It's literally just the name on repeat, "Your move" on repeat and "It's time to D-d-d-d-d-d-duel". We make fun of it, but there's no doubt we'll jam to it if we hear it.
When you never knew about the original songs, these dub songs were great. Rock the dragon fit dragonball Z perfectly, digimon was techno in reference to technology, sailor moons song was describing her character and what the show was about. Mad props to the American songwriters that came up with those unique ideas. Poke'mon song was just a stroke of genius.
Not all America, Latin American Spanish versions are faithful to the Japanese originals, you should listen to them.

Got to be honest, I grew up with the Latin America openings but they mostly followed the Japanese rhythm and sometimes even lyrics. When I moved to the United States I was so shaken, like now I’m used to their openings in English but it felt weird, and once I got older I saw the Japanese versions and I was like wow I didn’t missed much but I still like their version better. Now that I’m hearing the korean versions of the animes wow they’re so moving and cool.

I think one of the main reasons that the American versions had more of a cool or rock’n roll style was because most of the American cartoons at the time had that style to their intros. I think they were trying to make the intros similar to other popular cartoons. It’s all about trying to emulate success and not taking a risk on a new style. I actually like Pokémon, Sailor Moon, Yugioh in US style. It’s fun. 😄

The brazilian version is pretty the same instrumental as the japanese ones, just the lyrics are obviously in portuguese.

when you grew up with anime that you’re also singing along~ but in the original japanese version as our local channels retain the original op/ed (which is a good thing lol). it’s my first time hearing the other versions omg the english ver is so cringe hahaha
But it's nostalgic enough for some people that they won't switch the song immediately XD For some reason, Butterfly sounds just as nostalgic than the English version lol For digimon I mean.
