Atoto has an eBay account as well so sometimes you can find this head unit for well under $100 and optional accessories for really cheap money. I have a beat up Nissan that I use to travel back and forth for family and have been doing the "phone on the dashboard" nav setup and honestly, don't want the obstruction even if it is helpful. This video was great to show the features and give me some really good ideas on how to put a cheap but good nav setup in a car that honestly, putting an expensive system in would be foolish. I was JUST about to buy this head unit, I even have the steering wheel control in my shopping cart still but went with a cheaper one (it's still a good unit, the Eonon X20 for $99, camera included, it was on sale). If I woulda seen this video yesterday, I would have went with this one hands down, especially with the custom wallpapers and carlink. I'm trying so hard right now not to convince myself to take out my unit and switch it. Thanks for the amazing video!🎉
I tried the X20. The audio was atrocious no matter how much you messed with the EQ. And your 'USER' adjustments are not saved if you try another preset after. + the WiFi and BT died 2'nd day after it was installed. Nice UI but the HU is garbage. And EONON's "official" YT vid showed to take it apart and cut the wires to disable the onboard Mic if opting to use an external. Also, a SWC adapter is redundant if car uses resistive controls. Only required if the signals go through the CAN Bus.

The S8 also has a 7inch version too but I just think it makes sense to get a bigger screen because it's pretty much a tablet and who wants a tiny tablet? Hope this helps!
@@carlosrsd734 I've had some experience with it somewhat malfunctioning. The audio would clip every 5-10 sec. I rebooted the system and it seems to work normally now but I can confirm there is some sort of issue. I'll try my best to work with ATOTO to get it worked out
Love it! I wish it had 4 parking cameras and I wish we had seen an example. Where is the best place to have something like this installed in the Collin County/Lewisville area?
I have everything hooked up and notice when the day is hot. The unit will be hot before I start the car. Which causes the unit to lag or freeze until it’s cool enough to make use of the map or play music.
Ah man, sorry to hear about the overheating issue. Now I understand why the maxpeedingrods head unit has a fan. I haven’t used the F7 in hot temp yet and so I haven’t had the same issue. Try reaching out to ATOTO and see if they can recommend a solution. Sorry I’m not much help

Installed and using this Head Unit the last 6 months and I am really satisfied. Just one point, when Apple CarPlay is connected and Google maps is used for navigation, radio or any other sound input stops. Any idea if this can be solved with a setting or something ? Thanks!
Hi, very good review, I have a couple of questions, maybe you can tell me, 1. If the GPS navigator can work without the phone and the other is if the radio is only FM or does it have AM too? I would appreciate your comments, best regards.
I have a 2018 Tacoma with the bare bones system. I bought the Atoto F7 We. Is there a harness adapter that I can purchase somewhere? I don't want to splice any wires
Does this HU have the amp on/off feature in the settings? And do you have to have the parking brake wire connected and parking brake on, in order to watch videos?
yes, this will fit your 08 Santa Fe, You'll need the Metra 95-7325B Dash Kit amzn.to/3IKcYy0 and I recommend a wire harness so you won't have to chop up your car's wire harness: Metra 70-7302 amzn.to/3WASQEl I hope this helps!
@Rawrkee thanks. The wiring harness I got was this exact same one. It has two connectors that you have to splice to the Atoto power wire harness and the aftermarket radio that's already installed in my santa fe that im replacing is all hooked up to where I can only connect 1 adapter to the car and 1 to the new Atoto unit so I'm trying to figure out how to do it. Do they make a wiring harness that is only 1 connector so it will work for my hookup?
Thanks. Your videos helped me a lot this weekend put in new head unit and backup camera. Only thing left is to figure out how to get the steering wheel controls to work with new head unit.
Love your video, sold me on the Atoto. Do i need a wiring harness to retain my steering wheel controls on my 2016 Kia Optima, or does this unit have a learn function? Also, can i hook into the factory backup camera or get an atermarket camera wired up? Thank you again for the very informative video.
Hey, glad you enjoyed the video! You can use a steering wheel control adapter: amzn.to/3N3dsk3 but this product is designed for popular brands and so you'll have to play around with setting it up. However, you can use the install guide on their website for your car that will show you what wires you need to connect from your car to the ATOTO head unit, this will save you money from having to buy the adapter. You'll only need to hook up 1 or 2 wires. Keep in mind, each time you unplug you car battery, you'll have to relearn the steering wheel control buttons. To my knowledge, the only way you can retain your factory rear camera is if there is a wiring harness for your car but in most cases you have to use an aftermarket camera. Usually, you can find a higher quality aftermarket camera that will look better than the factory camera. Hope this helps!!!
Thank you for this excellent review. Wonder if you can help. My rear camera has all the power but the head unit shows “No signal.” Do anyone know how to fix this? Other unit has settings for different formats: PAL, NTSC,… How to set up the format for the Atoto F7?
@@Gamingrelease Sorry but I don’t remember. Got power to the camera but ran into a perplexing problem; the camera doesn’t come on when the car is in reverse, it is only on when you set to “R. Camera” in the menu.
on the back where you have the L/in R/in . So you don't have to plug an aux cable into the front. Could you get an aux to Rca adapter and hook up an mp3 player or another output audio source ? cheers from shaun
Hey great video I want to get this for my 8th gen si anything you need to install? I know I will have to buy the trim piece what about like the wiring harness and is it a big pain to install?
Yes, you’ll need a wire harness if you don’t want to chop up your OEM harness. Depending if you have “premium sound” you’ll have to provide power to the OEM amplifier otherwise you won’t get any sound. If your car doesn’t have premium sound, you won’t have to worry about that. It’s a headache if you want to bypass the OEM amplifier, it’s just more wiring 😆
@@Rawrkee do you have links for the harness and is that all you need I hear a lot about people have static noise unless they install other things Ive never installed radios or anything is this something i just try and pay someone to do or is it relatively simple
@@jacobbenavides6367 if you have a Si, you’ll have to either give power to the factory amp OR bypass it all together. When you install an aftermarket radio on the 8th gen Si, one of the factory plugs is no longer used, which powers the factory amp. In that case, you splice one wire from that unused plug to power the amplifier. One reason why people get high static noise from aftermarket stereos is because the aftermarket stereo has a built-in amplifier, so when the radio amplifies the car speakers and send it to the factory amplifier, the factory amplifier creates a type of bottleneck which causes that static noise. So if you bypass the factory amplifier, you have full control on how the car stereo sounds. If you’re wanting to get the amp bypass harness, here’s a link to the bypass AND radio harness amzn.to/3XRSb20 Hope this helps!
no, you don't have to have your phone hooked up by wire to use CarPlay or Android Auto. I just prefer keeping my phone on the charger and I noticed that the response time is faster rather than using a wireless connection
So, you have a "wire" hanging somewhere to plug your android into? Also, does this device show file folders when accessing the SD card? Also, does Android Auto charge the phone while it is being used? Can you listen to the FM radio or music while using the map/navigation?
Interesting head unit and very well presented video, thanks. Does anyone know which video file formats this unit supports? Also, what is the usb single max file size, max number of files, and total volume size?
Hi, yes this will fit. Theres a double din dash kit on amazon amzn.to/45nkjxd or you can get this kit that comes with all the wires you'll need amzn.to/3MtOCdb I hope this info helps!
The 8th gen civic is a little tricky, especially if you have an Si. You simply need a dash kit for a double din car stereo and I recommend a wire harness unless you don’t mind chopping up your OEM harness. If you have the Si, you will not get any audio unless you wire up the OEM amp. You can crutchfield.com and they’ll provide you with all the info you need for you specific car
Got this installed and I love everything about the F7 WE except…I can’t figure out how to rearrange the icons. I want the front camera and rear camera apps/icons on the same screen or even better on the main screen. Do you know if this is possible?
Unfortunately, you can’t rearrange the Home Screen. Not sure if it’s because this is a Linux based system but on the other ATOTO head units, you can rearrange the Home Screen because they’re android based
That’s awesome! I’m actually working on a review on one as well, I know you’ll like it! If you’re not aware, on the fa5, there’s a light blue wire on an unused plug that is to power on the OEM amplifier. If you don’t give it power; you won’t get any audio. You simply give it power or you can opt for the Amplifier Bypass Harness. Good luck!
Buy a well reviewed / tested dedicated dashcam , it's not worth depending on something like this for something so important , dash camera worst nightmare thinking you have good video of an incident to find its corrupted / didn't record / too low quality to make out number plates etc
I recently ran into a bug with the F7WE, I noticed that my audio didn't change when using carplay wired connection. When I switched to wireless, the audio changed normally. with that being said, the A6PF is better performance wise, you'll notice a slight delay on the F7WE each time you turn on your car. Plus the A6 allows for a lot of customization. The s8 is simply a higher performance version of the A6, I prefer the S8 because of the large screen but A6 would suffice if I just wanted a simple upgrade on my daily. as far as sound quality goes, I can't tell you because I've installed each head unit on different cars. Maybe in a future video, I'll do a comparison test among the three head units. Hope this helps!
@@Rawrkee thank you very much for the reply. I just sent back the f7xe because it did not have subwoofer control (adjustable low pass filter, sub volume) and I just received the A6PF in the mail today, hopefully I will get a chance to install it in my son's accord this week. Thanks again

@@KG-kq9tk Yes, clock will reset. Along with all your EQ and station presets. But also the Ign power is already supplying current to other CRITICAL systems on the car. Car's have a dedicated power feed to the radio for a reason. Blow the Ign fuse and you'll be broke down on the side of the road.

If you just want a simple interface that is stable, I recommend the F7WE. If you're a little geeky and I like downloading apps and playing with electronics, get the A6PF. If you want high quality and a big display, get the S8. The S8 also has a 7inch version too but I just think it makes sense to get a bigger screen because it's pretty much a tablet and who wants a tiny tablet?
Hope this helps!
@@Rawrkee how do you feel about the reviews saying the Bluetooth or car play stops working after 3 months or so
@@carlosrsd734 I've had some experience with it somewhat malfunctioning.
Nice video, just answer all my questions, thanks a lot..
5thgen Honda Prelude...represent!!
Sorry I’m not much help
you can make a small hole in your ac tunnel make a small route to the back of the head unit area. i did it to a subaru with an old touch screen unit
Ok I like that the TH-cam plays when you turn it off … do you know if the XE does that also ? Thank you in advance
I'm assuming yes because its more than likely the same software, only difference is hardware.
Hey man, great video. Can you do a step by step install
Excelent video. Im thinking of upgrading my atoto A6 and came across your video. I do have one question, can I add the playstore?
@@irishmage no, you’ll either want to get the a6pf, s8, or the new x10g. Those three units are android car stereos. The f7 is not Android and so you cannot add playstore
You rock 🔥 cheers from Chile
Wonder if it will work with my factory Bose speaker system
Installed and using this Head Unit the last 6 months and I am really satisfied. Just one point, when Apple CarPlay is connected and Google maps is used for navigation, radio or any other sound input stops. Any idea if this can be solved with a setting or something ? Thanks!
I noticed you didn't add that outer trim piece and it looks like you have a thicker trim piece. Where did you get that from?
The universal radio kit will usually provide one
Hi, very good review, I have a couple of questions, maybe you can tell me, 1. If the GPS navigator can work without the phone and the other is if the radio is only FM or does it have AM too? I would appreciate your comments, best regards.
what a great video Im thinking of getting one of these, thanks
I have a 2018 Tacoma with the bare bones system. I bought the Atoto F7 We. Is there a harness adapter that I can purchase somewhere? I don't want to splice any wires
Yes, you just need a radio wire harness for your Tacoma
amzn.to/46dEu0g
@@RawrkeeI appreciate your help. It wasn't the exact harness I needed, but you steered me in the right direction. Thanks again
Does this HU have the amp on/off feature in the settings? And do you have to have the parking brake wire connected and parking brake on, in order to watch videos?
Very thorough. Thanks. Will this fit in a 08 Hyundai santa fe and will i need to purchase a separate dash kit?
yes, this will fit your 08 Santa Fe,
You'll need the Metra 95-7325B Dash Kit amzn.to/3IKcYy0
and I recommend a wire harness so you won't have to chop up your car's wire harness: Metra 70-7302 amzn.to/3WASQEl
I hope this helps!
You can use a steering wheel control adapter: amzn.to/3N3dsk3
but this product is designed for popular brands and so you'll have to play around with setting it up.
Running into this currently. What was your solution?
@@Gamingrelease Sorry but I don’t remember. Got power to the camera but ran into a perplexing problem; the camera doesn’t come on when the car is in reverse, it is only on when you set to “R. Camera” in the menu.
This would be a sure buy for me if it had built in GPS or support for an external GPS antenna
Screen mirrors but TH-cam doesn’t play 😢
Yes, I can only assume that with the newer apple updates, it may cause issues with screen mirroring 🫤
on the back where you have the L/in R/in .
So you don't have to plug an aux cable into the front.
Could you get an aux to Rca adapter and hook up an mp3 player or another output audio source ?
cheers from shaun
Hopefully they last longer than the a6 line up. Tried 2 different ones and they lasted about a month before it would randomly turn off.
deng, I'm sorry to hear that. Were you cable to warranty the head unit??
If you’re wanting to get the amp bypass harness, here’s a link to the bypass AND radio harness

Do I have to have the phone connected with USB to use android auto? Or car play?
no, you don't have to have your phone hooked up by wire to use CarPlay or Android Auto. I just prefer keeping my phone on the charger and I noticed that the response time is faster rather than using a wireless connection
does it have boot logo
So, you have a "wire" hanging somewhere to plug your android into? Also, does this device show file folders when accessing the SD card?
Also, does Android Auto charge the phone while it is being used?
Can you listen to the FM radio or music while using the map/navigation?
Interesting head unit and very well presented video, thanks. Does anyone know which video file formats this unit supports? Also, what is the usb single max file size, max number of files, and total volume size?
Hey, I like your videos. But can you do a video with a Ford Transit? What would you prefer to have on the Ford transit?
Does this work with the 2014 Chevy cruz?? And am I going to need to buy separate parts to make it fit or no??
Hi, yes this will fit. Theres a double din dash kit on amazon amzn.to/45nkjxd
or you can get this kit that comes with all the wires you'll need amzn.to/3MtOCdb
I hope this info helps!
Did you have to replace any parts for the 7-inch screen to fit in the honda civic? Or did it naturally fit?
Not sure if it’s because this is a Linux based system but on the other ATOTO head units, you can rearrange the Home Screen because they’re android based
Thanks for the reply and info. I appreciate you taking the time to answer.
Did you have any problems with your mic when on the phone?
I never use the built in mic and so I'm not sure what to expect with the call quality
How did you connect the reverse camera?
I bought the atoto s8 pro 10.1 for my fa5. Haven’t installed it yet but hoping what I imagine is gonna work as planned.!!
Good luck!
Can you connect pre existing backup camera
Yes, but only aftermarket cameras
Does the front camera record to a usb or sd card?
Buy a well reviewed / tested dedicated dashcam , it's not worth depending on something like this for something so important , dash camera worst nightmare thinking you have good video of an incident to find its corrupted / didn't record / too low quality to make out number plates etc
Thank you 👍
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed!
Whicb unit did you like bettwr the A6 PF or the F7WE?
And do you find either one sounds better than the othwr? Does the S8 sound the beat?
Can you use the mic on the front for talking on the phone too? The one you plug in the back sucks

Hi can you advise with a device for my golf mk4 with all needed accessories. Thanks
A critical feature you need to cover is the standby current. Having had ATOTO's previous model it drew 15mA. Anything over 5mA is a FAIL and will affect life of your car battery.
Tried ~6 other cheap AA/CP radios off amazon, each was faulty in one way or another. Caved in and spent a bit more for this model (F7G2A7WE). Standby current is
@@KG-kq9tk Yes, clock will reset. Along with all your EQ and station presets. But also the Ign power is already supplying current to other CRITICAL systems on the car. Car's have a dedicated power feed to the radio for a reason. Blow the Ign fuse and you'll be broke down on the side of the road.
