    G'day Elissa, The auto chicken door is a great idea. I have one of my Muscovy ducks sitting on eggs atm can't wait to have ducklings around again. God bless you.🦘👍

    I bought an automatic coop door for my chickens and it’s
    a great item for securing my birds. I think it’s great. It’s got many opening and closing settings that can be selected. I’ve had it for two years and I love it. It really simplifies my day. Thanks for posting your video!

    Great investment. Have my desk and desktop. Still need a foot pedal. First had to get more Winter gear as we're supposed to have a bad one this year. Got some long-sleeve, ankle-length Bohemian-style dresses and two Winter Coats since I purged my last one. The wool one has a polyester lining so can only wear it when I wear long-sleeves. The oilskin one has a cotton flannel lining so I can wear it with short-sleeves. I get a rash from wearing polyester for too long.

      Sounds great Jean, I’m glad you’ve got your winter clothes organised.

    I bought a different brand a few years ago which was great until I went out to my chickens one day and they were still locked inside. This brand had a cord which pulled the door open and it had broken, fixed it, but it happened again. I realised a rat had probably eaten through it so I haven’t used it since. Love the idea of the chicken cozy as it is all internal.

    How well does it prevent predators from pulling the doors open?

    • @MoatCottage
      @MoatCottage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can’t get into it using my hands and foxes and dogs can’t get in either, that is what I have personally tested it on.

    I'm wondering if anyone has any issues with predators chewing thru? And what kind of material is that door made of?

    • @MoatCottage
      @MoatCottage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is a hard, thick plastic. I have not had any issues with predators getting in, however we all have different types of Predators

      Fox can’t get in… as for the others, I don’t have those particular ones to test it on. But it is fox proof

    • @ElissaJayneOfficial
      @ElissaJayneOfficial 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes I do. It is really helping my birds and I. I’m still on my first batteries and I even wet it with the pressure washer, when cleaning the coop and no issues.

    I have a question which may sound silly, but can muscovy withstand cold weathers? My 1 year old muscovy just got transfered to the chicken coop and she used to stay inside the house most of the time. The weather has been getting cold and I was wondering if there's something I can do to keep her cozy outside? I'd really appreciate it!

    • @MoatCottage
      @MoatCottage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello @littleanna2406 when you say cold, what sort of temperatures do you have?
      Muscovy Ducks have twice the feathers as chickens, maybe more. I have warm, dry hay or straw in the sleep area and coop and they are protected from winds. My weather goes down to -6C / 21F and they don’t seem to notice at all.

    • @littleanna2406
      @littleanna2406 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @MoatCottage I think the lowest we get is maybe -5 degrees in Fahrenheit. But if you're saying muscovies are good beyond that then whew that's a relief. I was so concerned for my lil duck but thank you for the reply!

    • @MoatCottage
      @MoatCottage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are wild Muscovies living in cold places like Michigan US & in Canada along parts of the Thames river. Despite originating in the tropical regions, they are very adaptable birds. Keep an eye on your duck to see if it’s doing well when it’s really cold there.

    • @Sam-ij2sd
      @Sam-ij2sd 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They hate cold winds, but they love the cold. Don't like the heat. I have a concrete floor with raised floorboards with gaps in-between, a yoga mat and straw on that, which I top up daily.
