You’re bang on. That second half when they came out they looked more than half asleep. That’s not acceptable. Also, we struggle to defend our own box. We need to do dirty side of the game more. Other than Patto, Smith and Famewo, we’ve got no one that will even mix it aggressively to defend. 🦉
Framework was a big miss. Not just personally, but the effect in in having to take Bernard out of his natural central position. Pato MUST be in the squad for the lane.
Hi Jim, Voice of reason yet again. Didn't see that coming after our recent performances,I thought we were on for 3 points, how wrong was I. Having had a bit of time to reflect on this disaster, the thing I can't explain is how do we collapse so easily with 2 different sides, last season it happened at Ipswich, Huddersfield, Middlesborough,Millwall. We got a reaction after those defeats and managed to stay up, Pre season we change the squad, 11 new players in, 11 out , and still we have this problem of caving in and a total collapse yet again. Why has this happened, what is going on behind the scenes and at training that we don't get to hear about. We are getting overrun to easily, Our opponents are getting behind us far too often, Brentford tried this tactic on Tuesday, but we managed to survive their onslaught, you already know that Norwich will be using the same plan on Tuesday evening. We haven't got enough time to sort this mess out before Tuesday so what do we do, make whole sale changes again or just give them a bollocking and tell them to rectify the situation, or do we bring in the youngsters and trust that they will be up for a fight and show us what they can do. Danny has now got a massive problem to deal with and will need to earn his money this week, we need 3 points Tuesday and get the confidence up for next Sunday, we do not want another hammering at Bramall Lane. Try and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Stay Safe & Well Phil
Great review Jim. That second half was a desperately difficult watch. I'm genuinely fearful for us next week against the Blades - we could get torn apart.
Replying before I’ve watched this, saving it for between the two games today 😂 Horrible performance. As proud of them as I was against Brentford, I was ashamed of them Saturday. The worst part is I thought it was against a bang average team who were clinical on the day (number 8 aside who was very impressive). Some of the defending was woeful, getting caught out by long straight balls is indefensible. I love him, but we’ve collapsed like this a few times under Danny now and it can’t keep happening. I’m not one to criticise him, but putting an already tired Palmer into a midfield 2 with Baz and conceding 2 more goals was a terrible decision. We were wide open. We have such a soft underbelly when we’re up against it at times. Credit Smith and Johnson who both came out with some resemblance of credit. Rest need a long look at themselves. Big performance needed now against Norwich, going into Sunday 😦 UTO 🦉
@sheffcam4960 I'm a Leeds fan but watch a lot of teams podcasts as good to watch. It's just the inconsistency with the owls, getting a performance over 90 mins.
Why is it … some of our best performances this season have been in the cup .. using the so called B- Side ?? How does Callum Paterson not make the team ? The guys a beast gives 110 percent every game .. Dominic Iorfa for me isn’t good enough he’s been at the club years and I don’t know how he’s survived this long .. we are way to inconsistent . Yes we get the odd good win but we are always open to an absolute hammering
Soul-destroying Jim..I really thought we would get a result after the performance against Brentford...I was saying to myself yes this will drive our season on... How wrong was I.. What a disgrace of a second half I couldn't believe what I was watching heads went down after the penalty.. Not good enough every single player needs to look at themselves in the mirror after that result.... And WTF is going on with Ugbo 😔
Just one of those weird games where you're thinking WTF is going on . I will say I wouldn't be upset if I never see Gass Mass and Ugbo play for us again
It's frustrating because there's sumat in there. It's trying to extract it consistently that's proving the real puzzle. Look at Gassama at Brentford. Just about to get the hook for an early bath and then scores that cracker. Soooooo frustrating
Spot on mate, if I was Danny, I’d drop the lot of them and start the Brentford team against Norwich, they demonstrated more energy and desire so they should get a crack and warm them up for the Blunts- if yesterday’s team rolled up, they’d give them the keys to the city! Aside from that, do you think the off field announcements this week had an impact? I mean it shouldn’t, they’re professionals but could they be getting a sweat on over being paid again?
Thanks for that Jim, I couldn't make , lucky me. We are marmite at the moment, I also think we are caught between 2 stools deciding how we go about it. On a separate note this squeezing in of games in a few weeks is crazy.
Agreed, I was gonna mention that we do struggle with 3 games a week, always. But it's the same for everyone so I didn't bother. I'd make a few changes for Norwich, freshen it up, mcneill should be given a go, fusire too etc.
I honestly think fitness is an issue , the way we play needs a lot of running , we've had a lot of games all together. When you're not that fresh its harder to concentrate , look at shea charles he's not been the same player since he came back from the international break . Time for calm heads jim we can get it back
@alanking5001 It's an odd un because some do look drained. Yet Marv, who's just played two games in a week in arguably the most gruelling position in this formation looks fitter than I've ever seen him.

Great review of the performance Jim. We all can see it, most of us aren't anywhere close to professional footballers , but there's obvious issues that aren't getting resolved. We gifted a very ordinary team 3 points without them having try too hard, very similar to Millwall at home last season. The alarm bell of this week though, is how easy opponents find it to break a half hearted press and highline. Even in the 1st there were too many through balls left one on one with one defender and despite their lad netting 4, he wasn't that good and didn't make 28:09 most of the opportunities presented to him 1st half. Hope that's a one off, but if they don't get that press and highline sorted, the goal difference will be - 20 by the end if the month. Keep the faith. 😊
Exactly! If there's no pressure on the ball, and you're in the back line just sit a yard off your man in touching distance. We were so susceptible to clipped ball over I was doing me nut.
A year ago, I looked at the Premier League scores and saw Blades 0 Newcastle 8. My first reaction was that it must be a mistake - surely no team loses 8 - 0 at home. You can at least console yourself with the fact that your team scored twice, as well as having the better of the first half. Here in NZ, I only get to see extended highlights - what I saw was not a true reflection of the game, but a bad day at the office. On a more light hearted note, maybe you should have told your missus that you weren't going to shave until Wednesday conceded two penalties in six minutes.
This season is a continuation of last season under Danny. Each time there's a Millwall (H), Huddersfield, Ipswich or Middlesbrough, we pray that there will be a reaction, and there often has been. The trouble is you feel there is always another Huddersfield (playing ok, concede a goal and then collapse) or Middlesbrough (standard is not only dreadful but players are lethargic and don't appear to care) just round the corner and there are a few examples already this season, culminating in yesterday. Oh for a bit of consistency and stability, but, for whatever reason, they continue to elude Danny.
Remember when Darren Moore was lambasted for playing "Unattractive" football, but ground out wins.Ok with the mindset of playing " Good football " rarely seen currently at S6 by our players. Some players the occasional well taken goal, then nothing to show after that.
@sheffcam4960 So not wanting to words in your mouth, so do you think DR will be away sooner than we originally thought, due to anticipated financial restrictions on signing the calibre of player to take our once feared Sheffield Wednesday FC forwards 🫡🦉
I'm hoping there nowt funny going off financially. I know that tax bill ain't been paid, but there have been times when the players wages have been late. Probably not that...but...
The defending was laughable 😂 the pens where 50/50 that we dont get but very clumsy from Bernard and Iorfa 🤦🏻 These are the tools DR has so we can expect a few more batterings from now till the end of the season but we will also win games where we didnt see it coming as well 4points the next 2 games will put this water back under the bridge. I dont even want to think about the battle of the stain 😔
We don’t need excuses. A goalie type dive with an almighty thump on the ball is a penalty. The second - you can’t throw your 12 stone behind a striker’s calves and expect the Ref to wave play on.
Did I miss it or did you not pick your (Least worst) Man of the Match Jim? I thought Smith and Johnson were the only two in credit. Not a clue what happened at HT. Blind zombies appeared from the tunnel. Couldn’t do the most basic thing of picking a short pass. Just awful. Thanks as ever. Good summary.
I thought the team against Brentford looked hungrier and Pato had a Captains game. We need that from our “first string” players if we are going to do summat against the other mob.
Next season we need younger team and fresh legs in especially midfield and back line who can run ragged for 90 mins and still have energy. I remember when Huddersfield went up with a shit team but they had legs and ran like mad men
@ I’m not sure pal but they had Johnathan Hogg-aaron mooy-Philip billing-Ivan paurevic-stankovic-Kyle Dempsey-jack Payne and dean white head if you’re on about Huddersfield promotion season
Well well well if all swfc fans think this is all about the players playing badly, poor management or whatever you need to think a little closer to home 🤔 ie Chansiri. This week he yet again didn’t pay his bills to HMRC and now there’s every one wondering if the players will get paid? Same happened last year and the next match the players took a dip in form. Until the players know they will be paid I’m guessing the will loose the next few games.
Human phycology mate. Whatever happens at the top goes throughout the whole club. Chansiri is up to his tricks again. At the end of the day being a footballer is a job and if there’s a hint of not getting paid it will effect you. Players playing poorly doesn’t just happen overnight there has to be a trigger. You don’t just become a bad team. Players playing poorly on Saturday maybe them sending a message to Chansiri. Pay us or we will not play to our maximum level. Game on, let’s see what happens in next match or two.
@@sheffcam4960 7-2? Damn...that's bad...not as bad as the piggies though last season in the prem (at home). Mind you, it does almost feel like that sometimes with this team, like we're playing one division above our true level :(
