      After watching kickin their bass or 618 and then coming to this channel you see how much other TH-camrs have such fake enthusiasm and long cuts that have nothing to do with fishing

      Thirty dollar lures? I was in a Bass Pro shop a while back, saw an attractive lure, and looked at the price. One hundred and fifty-nine dollars!!! Talk about sticker shock. I only paid a hundred bucks for my first car, and it ran for years. It's hard to believe anyone would pay that much for a lure that looked exactly like two dozen others hanging around the store that were selling for as little as five bucks.

    • @coreycouch4942
      @coreycouch4942 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jamesaritchie1 omg that's crazy someone would be pissed to buy it and got it hung up on a stump 15 foot down in so big water and had to break off. It's crazy on how much all this equipment has become. It's all about the money nowadays. Most I'll pay 12 bucks lol I mean maybe more if I need to haha

    My Grandfather just passed last month, at the ripe old age of 93. A man who brought me kicking and screaming as a 10 year old to go fishing for Trout in a tiny stream with a worm and a piece of twig as a float. I fished for hours with nothing to show until that twig suddenly disappeared and I was in contact with something from another world...a six inch Trout. A tiny fish now, but a huge fish in the grander scheme, a moment that shaped the rest of my life. Thank you, Sir, for reminding me what is important in life...you brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face.

      I was lucky enough to spend summers as a kid at our lake cabin in MN. My parents weren’t really into fishing but my grandparents would come stay with us a half dozen or so times throughout the summer and my grandpa would always take me out in his little green fishing boat he kept at our cabin. Somehow he could cup his hands over his mouth and do a spot on loon call. I never could quite figure out how he did it.

      I'm guessing you are right. We have way too much to choose from and that's why my garage looks like a tackle shop. I won't have a tackle box to hand down, it will be more like a U-Haul truck full of crap. BTW, I was in a Sportsman Warehouse in Lexington, Ky this past weekend and they had a ton of Kalin's grubs and tube baits. I picked up some tube baits, going to give them a try this week on the river.

    heck yeah. I just made a giant torpedo just like the black and white one there. its 20" long and bout 6"round. making the river runt spook floater next for my cousin. that was too cool with the river runt

    • @ndyakangler
      @ndyakangler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could have used a little bit bigger torpedo, that little lure was almost impossible to cast with any accuracy mid day when the wind picked up. I was the most impressed with that swimming mouse though. I bet those would be pretty easy for you to replicate on your lathe. The river runt had some nice action too. I’ll have to give those lures another try late summer when the bite really starts picking up.

      Ive seen largies put a 5 minutes fight and some smallmouth that fell like a perch...it all depend on water temperature,current,time of the year,etc...smallies "normally" like to stay in current so theyre more combative then a largie in 90 degre water

    My Grandma died in December (COVID :( ), and I didn't keep much from her home but the fishing box and a couple of rod/reel sets (they used to go fishing a lot with my Grandpa, coarse fishing, very popular in France). As an angler, it was very special for me to open such a box. The smell, all the gear that shows their fishing techniques, their little hacks... And all the gear that I recognized, because I went fishing with them when I was a kid. More important: this gear can still catch fish, so I can keep it alive, me and my children.
    That is what I call a treasure.

      Thanks! I have my other grandpas tackle box too, thought it was mostly walleye stuff in there but I was looking through it this morning and there were a lot of the same lures. A bunch of old bass and pike lures, even a Hula Popper! One of my favorites back when I was a kid spending summers at the lake.

    What fun. Your grandfather's lures were my lures when I was learning to fish. My dad put his faith primarily in River Runts, Lazy Ikes and Tadpollies. Some modern anglers talk about lures as "tools" that do certain jobs. For those of us who fished in the Fifties, these were our fishing buddies, and we had a lot of emotion about them. You do so well with the Whopper Plopper. You might try a Jitterbug when fish are hitting surface stuff. That's a fun lure . . . or fishing companion.

    @1:19 That is a Creek Chub Pikie Minnow. @1:27 Red Eye Wiggler spoons nowadays made by Daredevle.
    @2:36 is a Bomber Lure by Bomber Bait Co. The lure had no name other than Bomber. It is no longer made. The Fred Arbogast Co. made a similar lure called The Mud Bug.

      years ago the chocolate bomber, finnish minnow (rapala until Rebel came out with a similar lure and a lot cheaper) and no alibi jig were all you needed to fish the white river bottoms in Arkansas...and kick ass...I think the limit was 20 (been a while)…this was before Bassmaster started the stampede...

      MushMan & G Will: Yakima Bait Co. still makes the Flatfish. You can order online. Granted, these are plastic and not the old wooden ones made Helin but if you want to fish a Flatfish rather than hang it on the wall, you can still buy them.
