The first half of the original spawn movie was probably the best comic book movie I've ever seen. The last half bored me to death. The back story the training should have been more in depth. The old mans back story should have been more talked about as well. The Occult stuff more prevalent, him being taught more about that. To give a better understanding of the Satanic underworld. Michael Jai White was perfect. Maybe my only critique would be to be more furious not just angry(think HBO punisher). John leguizamo was as well. I didn't mind Martin Sheen. But I didnt care about his best friends story. It should have been more focused on the fight with Satan and Leguizamo. He should have got his revenge on Sheen quickly then went into the battle with Satan.

Michael brings up good points. Todd’s skillset isn’t screenwriting or directing. All his comments just don’t sell the movie: you don’t see Spawn that much, dark hard R rated movie with zero humor? No studio is going to hire somebody who’s never directed or written a film to direct this reboot. He needs to hire a screenwriter to help polish the script.
Last comic writer who never had experience directing but had screenplay writing was Frank Miller. The movie is called the Spirit. That movie was super trash.

It appears MJW now is more demanding as an established actor and probably demanded more creative control of the character. Jamie is a star & Oscar winner but is probably more willing to gamble at being a superhero.
Judging by the shit idea of a first draft, the entire premise of spawn being a shadow in the background..why would jai have been interestes in a sequel like that?

Michael Jai White is definitely correct about Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane. take the spawn project to either Amazon prime or Netflix or maybe Sony. Make it an ongoing series they'll give him at least one season to start with which is usually what they give everybody and he should have at least six episodes, from there he'll make his money and his investment and return that is the most fiscally and financially Smart Way to handle spawn. IMHO .

Michael Jai White play the hell out of spawn back in the day. Hell even if he got the roll again he will still be able to do it the second-best spawn actor back in the day was on the Animated Series these two play the best spawn I can't remember his name but I remember his face he playing in so many movies and in fact he played in the Independence day and tell from the Hood 2 as the main antagonist.
I love Toddy, And I love Mike. Met him at wondercon years ago dressed in spawny costume. Great dude. But I have a problem with Toddy not revisiting this guy in the role. Look Force Awakens makes umpteen million billion dollars with same old actors. This guy should be in the new movie. Not revamp already a very good movie. An update. This guy's not old, not fat, not ugly. Fantastic actor. Made the movie for me. Try him out. Give him an audition for the new role. Can't hurt. Want to see again. In UPDATED version. Very fartworthy interview. It's the same with his action figure dolly company. Love the stactues he used to put out.
