I wondered why my dogs were getting so many allergies. Spent lots of money on what I thought was good quality food for them. Lost one to cancer way too young. Now I know why.

I work in Agriculture, the peas, sorghum, lentils usually come under the broad label of grain crops. In broadacre terms farmers are growing grain crops and oilseed crops.

Thank you for that information. Very important. They are actually putting dogs health at risk...my boys last blood work showed their triglycerides were high. I was was baffled how that can be. I don’t give them anything with sugars or carbs...One was overweight, I cut his intake down and let him run more... because one Vet said I was over feeding him...another Vet said I was not feeding him enough but still over weight and did all these tests for his thyroid and metabolism...he was put on metabolic diet.. again by hills...and bey expensive. One is on Hills I/d for IBS..Now I find out that it’s loaded with sugar. Thought that I was good for his problem...Bet their specialized treats have tons of sugar too. I started them back on hone cooking where I knew just what they were eating....and they are both doing better... but I never realized it was the kibble working against them.
all it has done was keep him at the Vet with more flare ups and expensive meds, and constantly finding a diet that worked for weight. I was racked with guilt, when sugar/ carbs is the enemy. Will not buy them kibble anymore. It’s so expensive so I thought it’s better for them plus the Vet says It is. So unethical!

I can't afford to feed my dog a balanced raw diet or I would. I did some research on some good brands (though now with this sugar revelation I'll have to see...) rotate between those brands including a dehydrated one and add fresh berries and veggies, yogurt, canned fish, eggs or goat milk

Guys I just want to say thank you for a great informative video! 👌🏼 I understand working out sugar contents in foods such as rice and pasta etc for humans but I have never known how to do it for my dogs. We have two dogs a female staff cross who I brought up on rice, chicken and carrots she has a lettuce reaction to red meats causing ear irritation. We now have a 4 month old male staff, we asked our friends who train dogs what the best diet is for him... they all advised kibble... so we headed to the store and picked up puppy pedigree 🙄 I didn't feel comfortable doing this I just felt like I was feeding him junk... sure enough my little man was sick 2/3 times per week so I knew I had to get him onto something more nutritional. I have started giving him half a carrot, between (dry weight) 30 / 40 grams white dog rice and 1 or 2 scrambled eggs per meal 3 times per day. After watching your video I'm a little worried that the amount of rice I'm giving him is too much. What do you guys suggest for a 4 month old staff pup who is active and weighs 10kg. I am keeping him keeping him in thisfor 1 week to flush out the bad stuff from the pedigree and then I will be giving him (if you think it's a good option) boiled strips of beef from butcher with rice carrots and spinach. Oh and fits milk 100ml 3 times per day. Is this ok? Is there anything lacking in this for my little man?
P.s our female staff cross is now on vitalin original which is a grain based diet with bone marrow etc, have you heard of it and if so what are your thoughts.
Keep making the informative videos guys we need more people like you pushing this subject so our pets can be healthier rather than making so called animal industries richer!
    👍🏼

Dogs should be eating a raw food diet, or like my dog if they have a sensitive stomach cook it a little. Primal or Small Batch are the brands that I use. They are frozen chubs of ground beef heart, liver and bone, they also come in chicken, turkey, rabbit, duck. But my dog is allergic to all but the beef and rabbit. I have been feeding my dog this way for the last 2 or 3 years, he loves it. You can get the chubs with vegies or with out and then add your own, which is how I do it since my dog has so many allergies.

If the total is less than 100 that doesn't mean there's no sugar, the higher the number the better. when you ad everything and you get let's say 40 100 - 40 = 60 so that means 60% sugar.

    • @SophieBaiLei
      @SophieBaiLei 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @TijmenJanssen

What I fail to figure out is why carbs are bad for dogs? Humans thrive on carbs, not sugar, carbs. Those aren't the same thing in terms of how they metabolize. For humans a high carb diet isn't necessarily a high blood sugar diet. Sustained release and high insulin sensitivity keeps blood sugar low in humans. Fibre and gut Flora have a big hand in it too.
Is it different for dogs? High protein also converts to sugar, only slower.
So please explain why dogs can't have carbs and what's the difference with humans.

These are all excellent foods for your dogs. Do not feed them veggies or starchy roots. Veggies don't do anything for them. Nada, zilch, zero.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems for me that dog food companies are in corporation with a lot of vets, because look at this in this way - veterinary food are the most complicated in composition and often - the most harmful (what we're generally seeing in the film) - why? To vets have a money from treating a pets.
If it would be otherwise... For what vets would be reccomend a food like royal canin what - don't kid yourself - it's not a good food. Some protein, some fat and the most... CARBOHYDRATES... Carbohydrates are important but not in this amount... Too much amount leads to fat deposition = overweight, obesity = disease = money for vets from treating.
    So...

    • @LongLiveYourSeniorDog

Dogs usually require about 2% of it in their food. Cats as well.

pedigree is the worst dog food.. PURINA also

  • @herbset804
    @herbset804 3 ปีที่แล้ว

That's what u get for buying so called dog food where corn is number one ingredient. Ffs anything with meat content under 50% is bad. And pedigree, royal canin, purina and other shit brands have under 4% of meat, not even meat, feathers, fur and other animal produce that can't be eaten by humans. Besides kibble is not the best option, but if u decide on kibble buy something good. Purizon for example. 70% meat content and the price is right too

Stop being fooled by all the marketing BS on the packages. It's much simpler to just feed your pets fresh meat & veges.

Hello all! Please help! To research which dog food is best for dogs and puppies is not easy, millions of dog food brands and products in the market and hard to know which of them is real best and safe. I got my puppy just this year, we tried pedigree blue buffalo canned food, but we heard that its really bad for puppies, so I tried the blue freedom canned food he eats few of it only, then blue wilderness canned food but he eats few only, then I tried the blue buffalo dried food for him the pink one packaging, he doesn't like to eat it, so I tried to put his dried blue buffalo in the blender to make it powdery so i can mix it with his canned foods. He started to have mild vamit, but I still gave him that foods in one month while searching which puppy food is best for him. It's painful to see him vamiting even though its mild, then one day I found a dog in a stranger car because that dog was barking, then when I saw the owner, we talked a little and I asked her what dog food she feed her, she said that its iams, so the iams is started in my mind. But before that, I talked to my puppy's vet and asked her what dog food I can give to my puppy, she recommended me the royal canin dried food, iams, or purina proplan dried food, then I emedeitely bought the iams canned food and royal canin dried food for small poodle puppy, then I feed that food to him as his dinner at night, he eat them a little, but on the next day in the morning after I give it to him as his breakfast, he vamit twice and it seems not mild to me, so I had to stopped to feed him the iams and royal canin, my heart is so freaking breaking! I cooked hamburger with few rice for his dinner, he loves to eat it without handfeed, and no vamit, but I remember the vet told us that dried food is important because it has good nutritions in them, so on his next day I mixed his hamburger with few rice to his blue buffalo dried food, after I feed that to him, he vamit again. I did go back to his blue buffalo dried food because his vamit was mild only before, but when I feed him back with his blue buffalo seems not mild anymore. Then I called the hospital today, told them that he vamit but his not acting having sick really sick, a little lose energy only but still playful, and I asked what should I feed to my puppy, they recommended me boiled chicken with rice in few days then slowly to go back to his puppy food, if he will vamit again they will inject him to stop his vamits. Right now I'm still searching which puppy food I should give to my puppy. 😢 its so hard and very really not easy, I dont want him to get sick and lose him, he is just a puppy 4 months old, I want him to be happy and healthy to live at least 17 years to 19 years. Today I bought the orijen for puppies, I opened it and let him smells it for few minutes, but not giving him yet as his food, Im giving him boiled chicken with few rice for now, Im still searching if this orijen for puppies is really safe and best. 😢 My puppy is a small poodle. Can somebody here tell us with honesty wich dog food is really safe and best? 😢

      Tl;dr
Just switch to raw. Simple as that.
While you are in the process of learning how to do raw feeding correct, you can feed your dog raw dogfood.
ALSO you need to get the habit of researching things you don't know, because all you're doing is asking people and believing simple advice. You ask "Is Orijen safe"?, but do you know what criteria falls into the definition of "safe"? Until you understand what "safe" is or not, you'll be just as clueless as now and will just believe in whatever you hear. THINK. You have a brain. USE IT.
      Is Orijen safe? Yes.
Is Orijen good? NO. There is no such thing as good kibble.

Please i need help. My vet and all the specialist says my dogs food is fine but she now has had a lump that came back positive for cancer it's been removed. 4 years ago we were told to put her on blue buffalo. we started on Monday and by Tuesday she had a lipace was 6000 it went up so high the machine could read it she almost died but she is a champ and came back like nothing ever happened. so they put us on royal canine gi low fat. She now has such terrible allergy attacks she lives on 2 benadryl a day. She is on like 10 pills more and night. I will give you the list if you can help me and she has gas issues. She is almost 14 and is my retired Service Dog now My esa. My young SD is orijen dog food. we want to make sure we are feeding them correctly I don't want my young dog harmony to have the same issues Hope did. Hope and I have saved each other's lives so many times and I don't know what I will do if it has been the food causing all these issues. Please if you can recommend food for harmony and hope.
Oh hope also is allergic to coconut oil and if she has to much oil if any kind she poops a lot. harmony needs some thing else because I don't think she like her food and she is half basset so we are all worried about tumors and other issues. She is also half lab .
hope is boxer, lab, gray hound, Irish setter.
If you can help my SD in anyway I would be so grateful. they are all I have and mean the world to me.
Can I give harmony the sardines twice a week and the ginger and turmeric daily like into an ice cube treat. What else should I add to her diet. basset lab mix 39 lbs. 2 and half and healthy.

Hi Abby your story has touched me, please check out Peter Caine raw diet! He’s been training dogs for around 20 years, he knows his stuff about fresh dog food. He might seem a little rude but he cares SO much for every dog. If I didn’t take his advice my 2 Shiba inus wouldn’t be here today, PLEASE you won’t regret it as long as you stay consistent with it good luck!🍀 P.S you shouldn’t give your dogs ginger or any spices & no dairy because dogs become lactose intolerant after they’re weaned.
