    • @xplayman
      @xplayman 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      I was thinking the same thing that it's wild they're all on ground, but I would say it's harder for ATC. Air emergency is harder on pilots but ground emergencies it's not like you can tell a plane to fly over another plane. Especially at JFK moving ground emergencies must be like those sliding tile puzzles.

    • @spelldaddy5386
      @spelldaddy5386 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@xplayman on the other hand, air emergencies often require pilots to stop on the runway (or otherwise close it for debris or something) for an extended period of time. Plus once they are on the ground, they still have to taxi anyway. On the ground, they can take taxi instructions and just go. Other planes on intersecting taxiways can stop or get out of their way and let them taxi first, more easily than making pilots go around while on approach. Even if a pilot does need to stop in the middle of the taxiway, other emergency aircraft can use alternative taxiways to get around. There aren't always multiple suitable runways to use if the first emergency blocks the primary runway

    • @xplayman
      @xplayman 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@spelldaddy5386 That's still supporting my point. Emergencies are harder for ground controllers than air controllers. Even in the case of a blocked runway the controller can tell me to fly runway heading and contact departure or fly the published missed approach and contact departure. And air controllers have holding options for me. On the ground there are no published ground procedures like STARs, SIDs, or approaches. So the ground controller has to figure out where room is available and then issue unique instructions to each aircraft involved in the move they're trying to make. Ground is hard. Your options are limited. Air is all about timing and if you screw up the timing you have options like speed change or vectors. When you have an air emergency everything moves out of the way and it's all on the pilot.

      @soche3455 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Why compare the two? This controller did a fantastic job that nobody in this comment section could ever do. No need to downplay how much easier it might be when it’s super difficult to begin with.

    • @xplayman
      @xplayman 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@soche3455 Again, that's the point. The original comment said it was easier and I'm saying this situation is harder for the ground controller and he handled it well. No one told him there was an emergency incoming so he could prepare anything. He had 3 emergencies he had to factor on the spot. It's hard enough with one emergency in your face but 3 with the limitations you have on ground. Excellent job.

    That's wild, but I guess when you're still taxing around on the ground is probably about the best case scenario for an emergency on an airplane

    This is truly a microcosm of life in NYC. There's always something going on somewhere and some of it ain't that good. We take it in our stride and go about things, maybe that's why the controller was so chill 😂

    I am glad everyone is talking about the controller doing great, and he did. But it was another aircraft that first reported the fire on Jetblue. And, while emergency aircraft are trying to taxi back to the terminal, I'm hearing things that tell me that everyone is aware that things have just been screwed to all heck and back and are watching things very closely, also. They know the controller has a lot on his mind and that is when mistakes happen (the controller didn't screw anything, but they were all ready, just in case). Everyone was watching the backs of everyone else. And that is the way it should be.

      be probaby boarded in one of the later groups, when there are rarely overheads available near your seat once you finally board, so it was probably hard to remember

    wow, in total, 3 emergencies in JFK Airport, one which was an engine failure and now the other two which was passenger issues, gee this kinda reminds me of Boston Logan Airport having 3 emergency landings back in 2013 but the difference is that it was 3 days and it had different purpose, like US Airways Flight 2127 having a Flap failure, JetBlue Flight 909 had a door opened, and FedEx Flight 555 having an air speed indicator failure, but yeah this has got to be a rare moment of having a lot of emergencies at a one day only

    I want that guy in the tower when I fly, not perfect, but he kept in contact with everyone and knew in his minds eye the situational awareness he needed and resolved everything calmly. The pilots all sounded a bit grump[y, but I can appreciate why, I have having to go back home when I forget something, bet these pilots felt no different.

    Would be surprised if the first emergency didn’t at least partially cause the next two. Passengers seeing another plane on fire and panicking about their own flight.

    Well that's interesting. I guess it clears up why I thought the controller didn't sound 100% during the previous (engine on fire) video. Still handled all 3 pretty well. Violent drunk people suck.
