OMG I just want to say THANK YOU. I went to the Mazda dealership and they could not figure it out. they uninstalled, reinstalled, unpaired my device and repaired it, spent 25$ for a new cable which didn't change anything and at the end of it had 125$ bill for their "attempts". plus the reccomendation to buy a new CPU for over 1000$!! Thank the lord I turned that down and found this video all I had to do was reset the factory settings... only spent 150$ and wishing I had watched this first.

Great video! I promise you I was tearing out my hair trying to troubleshoot my Android auto until I ran into this video. The part where you explain how to allow for Android auto to connect to the phone automatically every single time is what fixed my problem. Thank you so much for this video.

Great video. I think AA is a massive problem for many users as shown by the comments all over the web. I have a 9 month old Kia Sportage 2020 (Australia) and a 6 month old Galaxy S20 Plus. I have had some experts look at this as well as the dealer (several times). I asked the dealer if they would "flash" the software but was told the software is current. Flatly the dealer told me AA will not work on current Sportages and this is reflected in the comments on line on several sites. My problem is I can connect to it but very quickly the car loses connection with the phone. Drops out. Then I get a warning message to reconnect the phone. Tried different phones, different cords, uninstalled, reinstalled, updated. Connected my phone wirelessly. You name it. An iPhone can connect to AA on my car and remain connected. I have had some very savvy guys looking at it. Must say I did not factory reset my car's software because that type of thing worries me and I suspect it will not help or I would do it.
I put up my problem on the Kia website in an AA chat with almost identical comments like this. None at all abusive. Just statements of fact. Within weeks Kia took them down so I wonder how many others get their comments removed. So is it a bigger problem than we think?
My thoughts after spending so much time on it is that it is a software issue. Somehow the software allows my phone to connect, sometimes for 5-10 minutes, but mostly for only 10-90 seconds then it loses connection. I get the warning on the car screen that my car cannot connect to my phone and I must reconnect it using the phone cable. I reconnect, the AA app on the car screen turns from grey to active and I can use AA for a brief period before it drops out again. Always the repeated connection drops out faster. So the phone can connect so I don't believe it is a phone fault.
Just did a long trip. Couldn't do it before due to Covid and I had decided to forget AA and was going to use Google Maps on my phone and use the speaker. AA was not connected but I got a massage that Google could not connect while AA was active. Yet the icon on the car screen was greyed. That was the final straw. I have uninstalled AA from my phone and will deactivate AA on the car tomorrow and see if that allows me to use G Maps. I will use the car manufacturer's maps and if I have to, use Google Maps with voice for destinations that I can't find on the car map. All legal and more updated than the car maps. My phone syncs with the car in terms of contacts etc so I can make calls by voice without needing AA to do it.
I think if you have a problem then follow the video's suggestions. There are numerous other suggestions on other sites if you want to persevere. Basically they all follow a standard procedure of troubleshooting. Obviously a lot of members can get their problems fixed but I suspect a lot can't. I note the replies on this chat strongly advise the reset to factory default option. But first try different cords, different phones, uninstall and update. Check the phone app and the car app settings thoroughly. Some definitely need tweaking. If it persists then dump AA. Don't waste your time like I have done. You don't really need it. It's just nice to have if it works.

did you ever find a fix? I have a 2020 Hyundai, and a new S20+, and I have the EXACT issues you have. I had a S9 phone, I thought getting this newer S20+ would fix it.....NOPE....sad, I really like the idea of using AA screen a lot. Guess I have to get a mount for my phone and use GPS like I used to in my old car.

Factory Reset or deleting of any App DOES NOT HELP.
You need a "High Speed Data Cable", sure, but even with that the S21 WILL NOT
STAY CONNECTED TO ANDROID AUTO NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. So stop trying
now, I already went down all "Avenues". Even the Techs at T-Mobil
finally admitted it as we both tested multiple S-21 phones. It may work
on new car radios that come in somewhat new cars? I dont know, what i DO
KNOW! is if you buy a radio and try to use the S21 in Android Auto?
FORGET ABOUT IT. I hear the S20 and the brand new S22 have the same
issue. it is probably WHY THEY ARE GIVING THEM AWAY FOR
PROMOTION!!!!!!! But like me? once you get it the S21 and sign on for a
"Free Promotion"... YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT! (Wish i NEVER gave up my S9
      for it)

4:19 - Yes to this solution. Only one that worked for me. Not just uninstall/reinstall Android Auto, but also the Google Play Music app. Restart phone after reinstalling both. Then you have to re-link Google Play Music to the music library on your phone.
I just did this with my UConnect on 2018 Charger, and now music road life is back to normal. 🤙

For anybody that has been having issues with getting Android auto to play on their infotainment systems,(my specific error message when trying to connect was your device isn't compatible with Android auto) I figured mine out today! I have a Moto 7g Supra and a 2021 K5 car. My system is a 9.0 on my phone. So, on your phone, once you've downloaded Android auto go to settings then go all the way to the bottom to where it says version, and then click on it 10 times and it will ask you are you sure you want to go in system mode or something like that, click yes, which will enable a longer menu and options. Then go scroll up to where it says enable wireless projection. I checked that box and then went to my infotainment system and was able to click Android auto, whereas before it was darkened and unable to do anything when I tried to click it. Then, voila!! It works now! I do have to plug in my phone with the USB plug initially, otherwise my infotainment system just hung on trying to connect. I just used the USB cord that came with my charger. But I did find that once I'm driving I can unplug that cord and the Android auto still works. I have a brain lesion in the base of my brain, so hopefully this makes sense and I explained it correctly. If not just let me know.a.d. I'll try to explain better.👌💜

( I bought all my cables from Best Buy) The dealer decided to use her cable from Germany and BAM it worked, on both phones so in the end she gave me an extra cable to use and no issues any more (the cables were more sturdy and thicker) so even if you get your cables from Best Buy they may not be the best, however, it did work on my rented car. I bought the same Pioneer unit. Very frustrating! With 3 phones, it's pretty intermittent. What does work initially every time is clearing the cache of the Android Auto app (uninstall also works). However, this is pretty silly to have to do this every time you plug the phone in, really defeats the point. It's ok if going on a long drive but not when just popping to the shops and lots of short journeys.
I also get screen corruption when the phone is used, sometimes it will clear eventually, other times it requires unplugging and replugging the phone. After the expense of doing this, i'm wondering if just slapping the phone in a vent holder would have been better after all.

    2020 Ford Ranger and a Google Pixel 5 w/Android 11 here:
My problem is that I will connect it, all set up, works fine for a few days or weeks and then I'll connect it one day and it will randomly create a new car profile in the Android Auto app that's a duplicate of all my settings and everything from the original. Except it will ask for all the permissions again, and then it will work fine without much further issue.
So I'll delete both profiles , do original setup all over again, and it will do it again, two profiles called 'SYNC'. I've also found that if I manually change the name of the first profile, it will turn around and make a second profile within my next 5 drives or so.
So, I go to AA settings, delete all of the profiles, reinstall, factory reset, all of that, make the ONE profile I want to use and I turn off the "automatically connect to new cars" or whatever that toggle is called in AA profile screen. It will work fine for a few drives and then suddenly it will stop connecting to my truck and start acting weird, flashing AA and then dropping back to Ford Sync home screen sometimes, but usually showing no recognition at all. Until I go into my AA settings and turn on "automatically recognize new vehicles" or whatever name toggle and it will connect up and do the same thing as before and I'll have two "SYNC" named profiles on my phone, with no clue which profile it's actually using.
As long as I leave the automatically recognize toggle on and leave both "SYNC" profiles there, it seems to work fine. How can I get it to just use one profile and just leave it?? My wife is looking to buy a new AA compatible car soon and I'm worried that I'll end up with like 6 profiles or something at this rate on my phone's AA. Please, someone HELP.

But yesterday it started charging but not connecting to Android auto, so I switched the cord and that didn't work. I'm going to try and see if another phone will connect but if it doesn't what can I do next? I have also tried switching the cord.

when you plug in your phone make sure you are selecting data transfer from the USB drop options drop down

My 2017 CX5 isn't on the list of compatible vehicles (I tried it and it doesn't work). Is it possible to upgrade any component of the CX5 so the Waze app can work thru the Nav system?
    Thanks for a great tutorial!

Thanks for your video. I still have an issue with my A70 Samsung, used to connect no problem to my Renault Clio car unit. now when i connect, it doesnt recognize the Android Auto app and it ask me if to "share data" through the USB connection.
my other S10 Galaxy works perfectly with same cable and same unit.
I tried to uninstall AA app, clear catch, reset my phone settings and even formatted my phone and nothing worked so far.
what do you suggest me to try? thanks a lot

thanks for watching. All my recommendations are in the video. When you plug your phone in does it ask what you want to use it for? Charging, file transfer, MTP etc?

I have a question for you I have been trying to solve for weeks.
I had the factory system replaced by a aftermarket linkswell system with nav and it was junk. I had the old system put back in.
The installer hooked back up my old system and now my android s10 and galaxy 8 wont connect to the system.
But I can get an apple phone to connect to car play. But not android's to AA
I have everything updated. I have tried deleting google play data and caching and deleted Android auto and reinstalled.
When my phone asks me for permission to allow ucconect access to my phone I click ok and it kicks over to the radio. It shows my phone in the mirroring option but its grayed out and not connected.
My phone works in 2 diffrent other rams 2018 and a 2019 Laramie and a ford 150. But not my truck since the installer put back in the old system.
I have tried all tips in this video also.
    Any ideas?
