    i know this is an old video... but GameStop had clearanced these down to $3. so my friend and I bought the last 2. it works surprisingly well. I'd compare it to a kord nanokey or other 25 key controller... but this is less that 1/10 of the cost. also the fast that this has a midi out beats all those usb controller cause you can just plug this straight into a physical synth, and play that like a keytar.

    I had no idea anything sounded so great. I've been watching other stuff about Omnisphere and I really have to order it right away. Sounds way better IMO than the soft synths I'm currently using.

    Nice piece of gear. Although I can't really use the pitchbender (it's almost impossible to get back to its "neutral" state), I really like this keyboard. You can also use it as a wireless midi controller to play with your computer (you need an application for converting signals from the dongle into the regular MIDI stream and another one to create a virtual MIDI port). And for this price you can't really find anything better :-)

      Wireless? How does my computer receive *wireless* midi signals?

    • @stefansender2634
      @stefansender2634 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@daniellucidofficial sorry for the delay. I use the rb2midi - mind you, there seem to be two versions, one with GUI that's supposed to work with drums and another one which is just a console application. They seem to have been written by two different people. I also use loopMIDI to create a virtual MIDI port although other software can also be used for it. So this is how it works;
      Plug the dongle, start loopMIDI and create a port. Then launch rb3_driver.exe from the rb2midi package (I'm sure it's still online somewhere). It will ask you first to pick up which MIDI port you want to send your notes to (so you need to select that virtual port) and then it will try to detect and connect to the keytar.
      Finally, in a DAW of your choice select that virtual port to be your input and you're done.
      The driver translates the signal received by the dongle into the MIDI data and sends to a port created by loopMIDI, this port will be available in your DAW.
      What I realy like about this setup is that when your keytar turns off (as it does when not being used) the driver will wait and once you turn it on, you can carry on playing. The virtual port stays on so no issues with DAW complaining that it's lost the MIDI device etc etc etc. In the worst case scenario, when the driver disconnects, simply start it again.

    I've never played Rock Band nor do I have any intention to, but the fact that this little keytar has MIDI, a pitch bender, and allows for octave shifting for under the price of lunch just sold me on one. It's hard to not order ten. Also, great performance too - is that e.piano patch at 2:42 also from Omnisphere? Has a nice bit of heat to it.

    Is there a way of changing the touch strip and reversing it so the pitch goes up when sliding to the right instead of the pitch going down?

      sure you could use some program. pretty annoying though, seeing as this is the only keytar with pitch/mod bound like that

    I got one of those brand new in box on eBay for $20, and is pretty good also I bought the Fender Mustang guitar controller for $5 in a Goodwill and also is very nice, a very cheap alternative for a MIDI guitar controller.
    Cheers!

    So.... Is this the same keyboard that goes with the Wii console, the one I was trying, unsuccessfully, to get to work last night for my grandson?

    • @TheChasedanger
      @TheChasedanger 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No this one was made for the Xbox 360 it looks like, the wii ones make you put the wii controllers in them to get them to work I think, as contrary to Xbox 360 and PS3 versions which act as their own special controller using batteries

    Anybody work out how to get it to work wirelessly? I've got the WII version and it comes with a USB dongle for the game.

    • @ace7809
      @ace7809 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I gather the best thing to do is get a wireless MIDI connection, the dongle is not really useful inside its MIDI mode

      Spend an 8 hour day learning the tech side of it. Spend a few weeks practicing chords and arpeggios and you're golden. Keytar is like playing keyboard on easy mode because you don't need to use two hands in the same way.
