You did great! It's an achievement in itself to be able to focus for long enough to complete a puzzle in one sitting. Also, this is why I can never have a cat 😂
It s funny how my day went. I started up by watching some videos from Karen Puzzles, searching up on google how to protect your puzzles if you have a cat and then at some point i was recommended your video. And guess what, you showed me what to do if my cat jumps on the puzzle haha! Thank you and I wish you great health !!
You’re welcome… check out some of my other videos, some times I protect the puzzle with the “Juno Board” and other times I just let her do her worst… which she usually proceeds to do…😜
I stumbled over Karen Puzzels' review of the 2023 championship and thought: "That can't be so hard... it's just a jigsaw puzzle. How big of a difference can there be between them an the championship and me?" -- So, i bought one of the puzzles (the New York postcard one) and gave it a try. I needed THREE HOURS and one minute. The 30 to 40 minutes they reach at the championship are INCREDIBLY fast. I think your finishing times (90 minutes and 107 minutes) are very fast, considering that you didn't do any training für it. Maybe, with a bit of training, you COULD compete at the championship!
Cat? Puzzles? Cat? Puzzles....Cat! So funny. All my cats are gone, but I understand. Love that you took time for kitty! You are much faster than me....and I don't mind. Puzzles are something I do to relax and make the world go away. I'll never be fast and so it goes.
For me, assembling puzzles is all about the journey along the way, not how fast I get there. I loved seeing you stop to pet your kitty. In my opinion, that was more important and meaningful than completing a puzzle in 90 minutes or less.
I will be 78 in May, so 'back at ya'! The love your cat has for you is beautiful! Go, Juno! Now, for the puzzle. I love watching Karen and am a great fan. However, I like opening a puzzle, spreading out the pieces, doing the edges, filling it in...on my own time. I, also, like doing other things and seeing the unfinished puzzle sitting there, knowing it is patiently waiting for me to return and not nagging an old lady. I remember when I saw the first all red round puzzle during the Andy Warhol days and buying it right away and doing it. Plus meeting him for a few minutes at the 1966 First Mod Wedding at the Michigan State Fairgrounds. (Not during the fair, they used the various bldgs for concerts and other shows the rest of the year.) So, yeah, I'm old (and slow) but I saw the best bands!
No clue why TH-cam is randomly suggesting puzzle videos to me at 3 am but thank you for this genuinely wholesome content 🥰 also the fact you were so prepared for the kitty snuggles was the cutest. Hope you and your nephew have fun jigsaw puzzling :)
Less than 50 from 80 did finish this puzzle under 90 minutes. The world championship (WJPC) in not only for the very fast puzzlers. You can see it as a puzzle convention to meet people with the same hobby, and the competitions are the side program. I would not be surprised if you were enjoying the event - even as a medium-fast puzzler!
Cats and jigsaws. Two of my favourite things. I never complete a jigsaw in one sitting, so always have a second board that I clip on top to stop pieces mysteriously disappearing and being found later - with bite marks.
before I started watching youtube puzzle channels I never imagined there would be competitions for speed (might as well have competitions for speed yoga or speed meditation--and no, I'm not going to google those, they probably exist). like your nephew, speed puzzling is completely antithetical to the enjoyment I get from puzzles.
I was there at World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship in September 2023 even though I had NEVER done a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle in under 90 minutes (on the first try)! 😄 My best result at the time was 1 h 39 min. I didn't know it beforehand, but you actually CAN get into semifinals even if you don't finish the puzzle in time. 🙂 And if you had paused the timer at 90 minutes and counted the leftover pieces and compared your result to the list on the website, you would have noticed that you're not the last. ❤️ I am mainly competing against myself (with myself, as a team, if that makes sense). But this is a kind of madness and I'd recommend this hobby only if you genuinely love to try to do puzzles as fast as possible... 😄
2 seconds into the video and I already knew that that chair is a cat-owner :'D An idea could be to bring Juno to Spain too, but instead of letting the cat distract you, you send it over to the others to distract them. In the end, if no one finished, the piece-count matters. You've got close to a year to teach that cat how to go ham between like 100 different people. (although we all know how willing cats are to learn anything besides eating ^^) This video showed up in my recommended and I was surprised by the video quality and you mentioning another content creator I follow. I will stick around for some time and see what else you will put out. :)
Being old and bored as well, I’ve pretty much followed your line of thinking and have this puzzle-in-waiting for a day I feel up to the challenge. Meanwhile, my cat practices pouncing on my table daily, so I know she’s ready. Thanks for a fun video.
I'm a bit late to the party but I enjoyed seeing you put this jigsaw together. Loved the fact that you were happy to pause for some cat snuggling time. 😺 Floral Reflections is not as easy as it looks is it! It's one I did myself last year and would have taken me more than 90 minutes. I'm more of a snail 🐌when it comes to puzzles. I certainly can't sit down and keep going until the puzzle is completed, I have to take breaks.
I went to the WJPC last year just for fun and I am going back this year. I knew I had no chance against the "machines", but it was so nice meeting the other puzzle players (including Karen) and being able to make something exciting happen in my life. Best regards from Norway.
Me gustó tú contenido y me identifico contigo 😊
I love to puzzle and I do so with my 2 cats and found your board-trick very insightful! I found you because I follow most of the other speed-puzzlers on YT 😍 you made MY DAY with this video, love from another old and puzzled person from sweden
Loved your cat jumping up! One of mine does that too, and then she decides to sleep on the puzzle. Sigh. 😆 I've actually filmed some of my puzzling - with feline interruptions - I guess I should finally upload these to YT.😄
Love your video! Karen Puzzles' videos about the world competition got me started puzzling. I can't get anywhere near the finish times you do, but I'm having fun.
Hello from Canada!! You might be bored but this video certainly wasn't boring!! I also understand about the cat interruptions, and about the need for a foam board (will definately steal that idea) because I think I might have a couple puzzle pieces way back there under the fridge where even the broom can't reach. Thanks for a very enjoyable video and good luck to Karen at the 2024 National Jigsaw Puzzle competition in San Diego this weekend.
Awesome video and so relatable. I too keep trying these WJPC puzzle and keep failing the times. And I too have to interupt my puzzles to give the kittens lots of cuddles. Your times are not bad. Keep practicing and maybe we'll meet at the WJPC Senior Division :D
Well, if puzzling is your thing, and you have a camera, you might want to look into the Puzzle Olympics. But I don't think you are all that bad, speed-wise: Check Karen Puzzles for a case where nearly all participants finished within the time limit, then get that one to compete against. That ill give you a more honest ranking..
Ok so I picked up Evening in Pisa and it took me just over 4 hrs. Granted I haven’t done a puzzle in over 4 decades. In about 10 tries I’ve made it down to 1:44 on that puzzle but still much to learn on how to get faster. Also I saw a competition in Australia that had 2 hr limit for 500 piece. You could make that and probably pick up some pointers there as well. My mackerel tabby gets shooed off when he tries stunts like that lol.
I just did this one today and timed myself because I am old and bored. I did a little better than you, but still failed. 94:37. Yellow was atrocious. It was where I started for some ridiculous reason. Back to my other hobbies that I am also lousy at. Loved the cat break.
Tenha orgulho do seu desempenho e continue se divertindo com essa incrível atividade! Abraços e sucesso em suas futuras aventuras com os quebra-cabeças!
"Bored`is what you make of yourself; if you don't WANT to change that, then you can't. "Old" is just how you view yourself; every day you can decide you're not really old. Speed puzzling, is just a way to learn if you're too bored to do something to keep yourself young. Try those two puzzles again. You've set personal best times for both; now beat those times.
LOL - My time was almost exactly the same as yours - I was 1:47:16 - -how did a puzzle that looked so easy end up being so hard?!?! The yellow was def the hardest for me - and I think green was the easiest. Wow. That was rough!
Must admit, I'm getting tired of every puzzle video being about speed puzzling :D I like to listen to a book while I puzzle, for me its about relaxing and enjoying the puzzle experience. I can be quite fast, although I'm no Alehandro, but so few of us are :D I do really enjoy watching the competition in Spain, although this year I hated most of the puzzles, and thats another issue! If I dislike the picture, then I'm not going to do the puzzle :D
I think it all depends on your current idea of specific puzzle - sometimes you wanna try yourself being Speedy Gonzalez 😉 and sometimes you just relax and quiet yourself and relax while puzzling - Santa brpught me 13500 pcs puzzle (it's 9x 1500 as postcards) and xan't imagine doing it as a speed run - rather relaxing with music at the background, using the sorter and calmly doing it till the end 😁
@@PuzzleThis_PL Thing is, I don't need that pressure on me with something that is meant to be enjoyable :D Have you noticed how stressed and exhausted a lot of the competitors looked after one of the events???? Can't be good for your blood pressure! My ex's mother loves puzzles and always has one on the go. So often when there's a group of us we all pitch in. Eventually she told me I wasn't allowed to anymore, as I made everyone speed up and it turned into a race, lol And I wasn't trying to go fast!!! I have a good eye, is all. So now when I see her, and we all start puzzling, I'm careful to take breaks and walk away a lot :D And she always ropes me in to sort out difficult bits if she gets stuck :D I got a timer for Christmas as I did think about having a go, but honestly, I haven't yet, and dont know if I'll ever get round to it :D I get enough stress at work :D
Those guys finish the puzzle before I manage to sort all the pieces. Anyway, I don't get what is the fun of completing a puzzle or anything at those crazy speeds. It is like speed-running a videogame. Those things were made to be fun and take some time, not to rush as quickly as possible. Also, I solve my puzzles on the floor, which is hard on my knees, elbows and butt, so that might be the reason I am so slow. Many times I get up and I am so dizzy after being doing it for some hours.... In the end consider this: you buy a puzzle, spend money on it, to enjoy it, to savor the moment, to appreciate the image and fitting the pieces, not to be over in 40 minutes and then move on. We do puzzles to appreciate not to get stressed.
Ravensburger must make a killing selling to puzzlers who optimistically think that doesn't sound so hard and they see some clever way to solve a puzzle... (I have given into this temptation myself despite knowing fully well that I am the opposite of fast!)
You did great! It's an achievement in itself to be able to focus for long enough to complete a puzzle in one sitting. Also, this is why I can never have a cat 😂
I love how you have the foam board prepared for cat contingencies!

We can't all be speed puzzlers but you got decent times on those puzzles. I only do 1000 piece ones now, I use a calendar to time those not a timer 😂
hahaha i love this! use a calendar lol, very witty
For me, assembling puzzles is all about the journey along the way, not how fast I get there. I loved seeing you stop to pet your kitty. In my opinion, that was more important and meaningful than completing a puzzle in 90 minutes or less.

You are such a ninja with the foam board block during cat vs puzzle! Well done!!!

I subscribed for the cat.
Great video! 😂 Between the jokes and the sudden appearance of cat handled so masterfully.... I will be back

I love this so much. So wholesome & extraordinary.
The part with the cat is hilarious! What a good solution to put the cardboard over the puzzle.
Yup, in some of my other videos, I refer to it as “The Juno Board”…
Nice puzzling and nice cat video. Combining those 2 into a single video just makes perfect sense.
2 seconds into the video and I already knew that that chair is a cat-owner :'D

I was thinking it would be a fun equalizer to add a couple dozen cats to the tournament room…

I'm with you. I'll never be a speed puzzler, either. Nice job getting it done under the wire by a nose.

TH-cam sure knows Karen puzzles is my favorite TH-camr and it sent me to your video! Very fascinating, and realistic. I love the cat montage as well
Absolutely love the idea of your channel! Looking forward to seeing more of your challenges :)
I have no idea how i got here, but happy i am. Subscribed

Subbed for more Juno! The montage had me laughing out loud. I like your humor and the editing. Keep puzzling!
Fun video. Love your tag too. I am too old as well.
That’s a great time! Loved the video ❤

This puzzle was the one used for Puzzle championship in Sweden, interesting to see someone else solves it. Winner had like 45 minutes or something
No too shabby.

You still beat me :) I tried the same, but spent 128 minutes and 40 seconds on this one :)
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍

Oh I hope someone sends this to Karen Puzzles 😂 You sir did way better than I would do..
Before I published the video, I let her know that I was going to mention her on my video and got her okay…
❤❤❤
Cool.
❤
I still don’t understand how he’s gonna get younger…
I enjoy my puzzling and will not speed puzzle even though I have beaten some times quite a bit. Speed puzzling is not for ne.....❤
