I need to redo my channel thought I think. Been trying to find something that interests me and that can gain views/subs as well.

When I first started this YT marathon, I worked so hard on creating a cool intro. I apologize to anyone who watched one of my older videos and has to sit through it. I've cut it waaaaay back to a second and have been going through using the YT editor to get rid of most of it in the older ones. Live and learn.
Its a common trap to fall in to for sure with the amount of channels that have them
Mine's short but I should do the same.
I do kinda miss the really old youtube intros though.. The ones the viewers would make for thr youtuber and you would hope so bad that yours got picked that day
Honestly wish I found this channel earlier! We just started our channel last month and while we are happy with the 750 subscribers, yesterday we looked at the retention stats. There was a massive drop after our Intro Clip.
Based on your advice we edited out the intro on our latest video after it had been uploaded and the average watch time compared with our others massively improved.
So we’ve edited all the others as well.

The likes and subscribe thing is powerful. Ryan Higa never once asked for a like or a subscribe in the ten years that he dominated TH-cam. And even while other TH-camrs of his level were struggling to pull in hundreds of thousands of views, he stayed in the millions--despite the algorithm changes that punished his kind of content. And when he no longer had anything to say, he stopped filming. It was always about the content. And that is why he's still so loved even though he's gone.

I started a series on my channel a few months back called Short Stories from the Barnyard and I use SO much of your advice when making them. This week I even let my husband hit me in the head with a ball that I wrote "Like" on. lol it was a soft ball but I still think he enjoyed it.

It’s been infront of me the whole time but I didn’t realise my intro was killing my retention (massive drop) so likely my audience has been skipping it and I was ignoring the tools I had! I usually blame my dyslexia for things like that, but that time it was just me getting it wrong 😂

In his last video, I literally stopped it and found the TH-cam analytics he was mentioning in "Advanced mode" and then click ... "more"!?! I never go that deep, mind blown 🤯

I totally did a loud firework sound effect in the middle of my video after I talked about our neighbors and their indiscriminate shooting off of same. One viewer commented on it and she loved it!! Thanks so much for your humour and excellent information!!
What's worse than a long and slow intro animation? A long and slow intro animation coming after a teaser and followed by 'if you are new to my channel, do all that before I even start giving you any useful information' ;) You are nailing it!
I sort of love those that are less than a second long and are gone before I know it. Also if the voice comes without any pause, probably even before the animation is gone. And when they normalise the sounds properly. Yes, I'm picky.
For the record, my 6 y.o loved the part with cake fishing ;)
I made an entire 12 minute video about how to get your first 1000 subs using that fishing game to explain the whole way through, I never used it in the end, but its good to know a 6yr old will be there to watch if I ever do release it haha

Despite the fact that I don’t “beg” for Subs and Likes, I may have overdone the “graphic” on some of my videos. I will test this theory and not ask for a 👍 until the end so it only “reminds” people to do it rather than asking for one.
So you can ask for likes and subs when you like, just make it flipping fast and try to avoid the start, I don't want people to think I only meant as at the end

When I get into details in cooking, I see many people leave or skip. However others who really want to learn how to make the dish appreciate the fact that I got into details. I need to figure out how to create the best experience for all...🤔

Let me tell you a secret. My worst performing videos in the last 8 weeks in terms of views have been my best performing in terms of generating leads for the business.
Sometimes you need to accept that videos your core viewers will love, who are more likely to be clients, will value that information a tonne and changing things might not be the right answer for your business.
A healthy mixture of content aimed at brining in new viewers, with less details mixed with more detailed content releases, might be worth considering.
Wither way its important to remember, retention and click through rates don't always equal business or tell the full story

Everyone tells how their channel grew and how can my channel grow. But This person tells what actually I have to do to grow my channel. He teaches not like a teacher but like a parent showing his child how to do this.

There is a good way to do intro's. A genshin youtuber called I win to lose gaming has a great intro, a small backgrouns video with text overlayed, which also transitions into the next music track of the video, which makes it feel less like an intro and more like a longer transition

a small tuber in my genre had a two minute intro video he played at the start of every video. His videos were not the long. Eventually I skipped them then the channel as did others. Great advice. I'm not MGM!

I made the decision a year or more ago to stop using cards. Not that many clicked on them and I, too, felt that it takes people away from the video.

Really useful content! I’m working my way through all your videos. I get the intro stinger without even having an intro! Well, not in terms of an intro ‘reel’ at least. My intros are simply telling people what’s in the video. Hard to do a video without it. Yet people don’t want to know. It’s a dilemma. Any ideas?
Intros are tricky and retention is complex, try something new and measure it, but drop offs are common and its a case of trying to make it better each time bit by bit
@@FilmBooth I've seen it done where a creator will actually play a clip where some 'value' is being delivered but then cut it off at the key moment - maybe I'll give that a try as an intro and see what happens.
