Totally agree about the editing. Still lots to learn, but the quantity of videos had me practicing how to edit.
It's not just your editing skills. It's also your storytelling, your outside the box thinking, willingness to try new ideas and really going above and beyond to make every video not just engaging from start to finish, but fun and informative. I love the way you're always pushing the envelope. 👍👍👍

As a new creator, I'm going through all of the questions, trials, learning experiences everyone does. Finding videos like this helping reasonably set expectations while giving good advice and a bright outlook for the future helps tremendously. Thanks for it mate.
I've been a subscriber for a while and I will be honest: I loved your old videos, too. Maybe I'm too easy to please but I was learning a lot... now that you changed it all and I can see how much difference it made I am even more inspired because I can see it working for you so well and I am happy for you. Happy for me, too because I could witness all this and learnt so much. Thank you for that. This is pretty insipiring, all the work I've put into my TH-cam Videos seemed to work just fine all the past years ago. But now I came to a point where I just have to adapt and try to change somethings!

I follow you since you had 5k subs, and I noticed "the change".
Besides the blending in mistake you were doing (the biggest), don't underestimate the thumbnails. Those suffered a massive improvement.
And, this is by far your best video.

Exactly, the algorithm is programmed to give people content they want, so don't make content for the algorithm, make it for people.
Totally, it follows the people. :) TH-cam shows you videos of whatever channels you watched recently, not so much who you are subscribed too.

I know right, his videos are awesome.:) I just can’t bring myself to make such complex videos from a production standpoint. But I’m going to make some experiment type videos soon, so hopefully that will make up for it.
@@AdamMellor1 I hear ya! I help people with finances so I gravitated towards that niche and I was making my videos in a room/professional approach. It didn't feel like "me" though so I've started shooting outdoors, being myself, and no real editing/cuts and just speaking from the heart. Different strategies work for different people!
@@theeverydollardad791 and what I like that a friend of mine said was everyone likes to watch content in different styles so their is always people out there for your style. That’s cool you do finance stuff, I am a very fiscally minded person.
It would be cool to have a video showing us how to analyze/observe our competitors/fav youtubers videos. I liked how you showed us the type of notes you take when watching someone else's youtube channel. That would be something I would like to learn more about.
A well put together video. What I love is that you usually depict your message in your videos, in real time. We can see clearly that you mean what you say.
What I enjoyed the most about this is the dramatic feel. I love drama, have been trying to incorporate them in my videos along with creating what the audience wants. Started that a month ago and the views have picked up. Now to be consistent.

Hearing we should focus on quality over quantity makes me feel like I don't have to stress so much over constantly creating content to keep the algorithm happy
Accepting the fact that the content isn't great is an amazing piece of advice and pushes you to better! Learning so much
The story telling in this is brilliant! And everything we've been through - except we're still going through the phase of figuring out the content that will work on TH-cam AND that we enjoy making. Getting there, slowly but surely! And learning a lot from your content in the process. Thank you Ed!👍

Your videos are fantastic from start to finish. When I first started seeing them (in recommendations), I thought they were a little too slick or too quick. Probably just because they're different than other TH-cam growth videos. But now I have come to appreciate all of the time you put into the editing.
Mate, you were doing before just fine 😊. I put my heart and soul into creating really cool entertaining videos (travel vlogs) and after 1 week of effort for 1 video I get maybe just a 100 views on it and that's it. NOW, that sucks. Who else knows this feeling?
This channel will have 1 million subs in no time. It’s the most underrated channel in this space. Miles ahead of the competition

Great points. Mark Rober only puts out 1-2 videos/month, but crushes it on his average views. Focus on quality and standing out from your niche.
The best part about all these advice is that you do all of them so it's really good to be more aware now after watching probably 20 vids in the past 5 days. Thanks for all the help!
Good tips and I fully agree. My biggest grief with "blaming youtube" is when I see all the analytics going downward trending, and the number of messages I get saying they stopped getting notifications for new uploads, don't see the videos in their sub feed, got unsubscribed without knowing it, etc...go UP. That's what annoys me because that part is out of my control. But even though I sent YT Partner support 50+ screenshots of different users showing all these problems, they still said there was none. That's where my frustration comes from.
I know right?! And what I hate is my subscriber count goes up and down by just one subscriber almost daily or shows up differently on different platforms. Kind of annoying.

Been watching you for about 2 weeks now and I've learned more in those 2 weeks of watching you than months watching many others. Of course Im a small TH-camr with just under 50 videos and under 50 subs, but I'm learning as I go and guys like you really help a lot. Thanks for not only the content and entertainment while watching that content, but also for the packed in info.
It so true. This guy is amazing. I mean he is a gift. I love this man. I mean nobody is so helpful because all the other people try to sell this info in their "courses" while making videos about the same thing over and over again and explaining nothing at all.

Now that was worth the build up. Really solid advice, amazing editing and storytelling, 100% viewer satisfaction, the time flew by. Very inspiring. I’m producing very…individual…videos and this has totally motivated me to keep going and not try to up my output. Sure, I want to grow as fast as possible, but the shortcuts are not something sustainable for me. Thank you for this fantastic video.

Great video and the "time machine" was an amazingly creative idea! I've got a bunch of time machines in my garage and none of them worked - all I ended up with was a headache.
It was a choice between hours of special effects or the exact opposite and the bucket just made me laugh more haha

My biggest issue is while the quality of my videos are absolutely top notch, they take far too long for me to make, & that’s been holding me back. I need to reign in my “perfectionism” to speed things up. Great video!!!

I love this advice. In the past 3-4 months, I’ve tried to really focus on story, quality, and content more in my videos and it’s working. Also, publishing consistently at the same time each week seems to help as well. My channel is still small, but I’m getting compliments on my improvements in editing, pacing, and thumbnails. Thanks for this video and for sharing the dates of those mistakes. It’s nice to know that you’ve made these changes so recently. Cheers!

I had about 70 bad videos. Deleted 61 and left for 6 months learning how to edit like a champ. Thought that it was enough but realized not even close. Left for 6 months again to keep learning how to edit and Photoshop. Now my videos are 1000000 times better and people are loving them and I'm growing. Even though I can't upload a lot, when I do people love it.
AAAHH I love how you made these year-ago videos what the heck! I got here from when someone referred a recent ChatGPT video to our discord chat, and honestly, I love how human your script is here. Personally, I would aim for that human element when I start making vlog videos. ARGHH I love your script here

I now spend more time on content, I’ve had a few videos which picked up really quickly then I realised I had missed something so was a hard decision whether to reupload and start again or let the video run. So important to post a video you know is 100% as you want it.
