I've had my O'Brien, which I saw him make as I lived in Indianapolis and got to know him, since the mid-70's. I've tried other mouthpieces to see if I might find a difference, however, NONE of them have matched the quality by any means. A full, warm tone is matched with my Buffet ... always complimented for my tone, and pitch, which I sincerely think is from this mouthpiece. If you have one, keep it!!
i used this mpc in no 4 facing for a good 20 years but a tech broke it recorking the tenon right before my biggest preformance starring in the lady and the clarinet theatre production. i had to fly to boston to get a new one from rayburn music as this was pre internet . i switched to rubber after this fiasco. my O'Brian is officially retired as a keepsake
Loving these videos. Do you have much insight on the Selmer Larry Teal mouthpieces? I have a couple straight shank tenor pieces that I really love. I've had a few scroll shank alto pieces that have also played really nicely.
@@DaleFedele wow...what I would give to toot on that one...I also heard from my ex teacher that back in the 40s or around then, they actually made a black crystal mouthpiece so it looked like they were playing on a rubber piece...he said they were really beautiful...never saw one and he never told me who made them either

I didn't mean to insinuate that Gino Cioffi used O'Briens...to my knowledge, he used Selmer glass mouthpieces.

Marcellus used them at one time...I tried them for years but I always ended up going back to rubber
Same! I met the man who had Marcellus' O'Brien from Capriccio!
