IMO, NO, a life is more important than reaching the summit. I don’t know how climbers that don’t do whatever they can to save someone without becoming a victim as well sleep at night.
I think that I'd give up a summit attempt if I was physically able to help someone in need. It's a dilemma, I know, and easy to theorize, but those are my thoughts. The heroic attempts to save Pavel and co are awe inspiring.
@@siobhanmurphy3106 I will skip my own summit reach as soon as I can help someone who's in need of help. A life is always more important. I can summit another time.
Those beautiful little girls, growing up without their dad. I don’t understand why climbing a mountain, or other dangerous recreations, are more important.
TH-cam has clearly shown us this. Especially that first couple, what an absurd request for rescuers too. This and much of private general aviation- too risky.
I disagree, once they are no longer dependent I feel the parents can participate in extreme sports. Let’s say if you have a young family no mountain play for you.
Every climber makes a decision to climb - nobody can really alter that once it is made and nor is it right to forbid such things...we are not children in need of instruction. Similarly, the same can be said of the rescuers - as noble as their efforts are they also make a decision to risk all, put everything aside and put themselves in danger, yet no-one would question their motives to do so. History alone has shown the futility and questionable strategy of just universally banning anything. If we're not free to attempt the impossible nothing is learnt, nothing is gained and nothing progresses. Freedom is not the enforcement of stopping the will to endeavour. Rescuers and climbers take the same risks and gamble the same bet, and both are free to do it as equally as they're free to not.
Seems strange that anyone putting themselves at greater risk by not using oxygen will create an ethical dilemma for others to miss their own climb & save those who are less invested in safety.

96% is a dismal survival rate. Given the described activity, it is a pretty good rate. But take that elsewhere and there'd be an uproar. "96% survival rate of washing your hair with this shampoo!" "Our restaurant has a 96% survival rate!" "Only 4% of our customers lose their lives on Black Friday." Yeah, no. Jail time. So why do people think that rate applies to everybody else on Everest, but definitely not them?" Gah.
Im sorry to see people needlessly lose their lives. That said it's difficult to work up a lot of sympathy for people losingly their lives while voluntairly doing something so silly.
Story 1 - this man has 3 young children. There is nothing noble or redeeming about this type of mountain. It's a selfish pursuit of individual glory, not only at the risk of rescuers, but condemning his young family to unmeasurable sorrow and loss. This extreme climbing, especially at a 22% death, is only important to the climbing community who share the same selfish values and delude themselves into thinking that it has any intrinsic value at all.
Whose wrapped in the Canadian flag? Killer mountains, or just poor planning? Get there-itis? I'm a happy couch potato, watching others do the dangerous stuff, is fine by me. Great Video! Thank You.
The woman wrapped in the Canadian flag is an idiot from Toronto. She died on Everest, thinking a bit of hiking on some trails in the summer two hours outside of the city would somehow prepare her for Everest.
I lived in Jasper national park for 20 years so yes I have climbed some big mountains but they were under 20.000 feet and they had snow and ice all year a round I climbed in the summer so it was not to bad it is below 0c and it can snow but you can sit it out with out dieing but there is always a chance of a fall I would never try the killer mountain or K2 up there skill dose not always keep you alive
I'm sorry, but these people are selfish narcissists. If you have small children this is NOT something you should be doing. Very, very VERY selfish. Why is a mountain more important than your children??
I’m surprised that Nepal doesn’t just assign a marshal for the mountain that requires submission and approval of a plan and resources, would have the ability to call off climbs and ban people from the mountain and ensure people are not ill prepared
Do YOU think making the summit is more important than saving someone's life? Story 2 was really interesting to me...
The summit will always be there , A person's life won't .

Seems that the obsession with climbing is uninterrupted by less important things. Like a family.
If a mountain is so extreme people are dying, sure that tells you humans don’t belong up there, no sport is worth losing your life for 😢
I disagree, if you don’t have a young family depending on you that is.
TH-cam has clearly shown us this. Especially that first couple, what an absurd request for rescuers too. This and much of private general aviation- too risky.
Exactly my words.......
It's a pursuit for pretentious egomaniacs
Dear you can speak for yourself,,not all humans are build the same
As soon as you have children, it's not fair to them that you put your life in danger.

@@maxasaurus3008
Well, that's kind of what I meant. Once they're adults, they're not dependent on you anymore.
Absolutely right
So Police Officers, Air Plane Pilots, and people who choose to serve in the Armed Forces of their country aren't being fair to their children?
@@d1inonly serving the country != extreme sports for personal achievements
So if I DIE on this mountain I'll spend the rest of my life there? Hmmm. Lemme think about that.
What he say !
Yes.That was a bizarre statement.
You guy's caught that also huh?
The true HERO'S ARE THE ONES WHO DO THE RESCUE. People who climb are putting many lives at risk. Is this really FAIR??
I agree with this comment.
Nobody forced the rescuers to do the rescue. If they don't want to do it they could just say no.
I also AGREE.@@Undo743

No mountain is worth this.
I had no idea there was a chance of attacks by terrorists on a mountain😢

So climbers who perish on the mountain ". . . . will remain there for the rest of their lives." Hmmmmm, interesting.
WTF ? The woman under the Canadian flag….thats Everest not K2

Story 2!
So judgemental ... 🙄
If they're already dead, their bodies wouldn't be there for the rest of their lives would it? 😄

That Canadian flag is covering a woman, and she's on Everest not K2.

K2 is called the Savage Mountain
How long is the rest of our life after you die?
😂😂
Well, nobody told them to go up there.......
There they go again, those from the religion of peace showing us what they're really about.
There was nothing peaceful about the leaders eyes. There was so much anger and hate in them, it left no room for anything else.
I thought K2 was known as the killer mountain ?
K2 is the Savage Mountain, coined by George Bell of the American Expedition in 1953.
K2 is often called, "The Widowmaker" or "The Savage Mountain."
K2 is the savage mountain 🏔️, or the killer summit.

I'm pretty sure that nowhere in this video was it implied a mountain is more important than children.

Any chance of you using standard units? Feet mean nothing to me other than what's attached to the bottom of my legs.
Why in the world would you climb in high altitudes without any oxygen??! 😂🤣
It's an additional challenge. If you don't know you don't know.
Because it's a more 'pure' experience. 🙄
Why whithout oxygen??
No oxygen!!!
Reupload so soon..?
If she only weighed 99 pounds she didn’t weigh a lot to start wit, and shouldn’t have been up there anyway.
How did they know her weight coming down? They have scales at 26:25 base camp??
Isnt K2 actually the "killer mountain?"
So she just went past them and didn’t call for help. Figures.
Ok, you want to be a "great adventurer," have at it. But to not use the necessary oxygen?! Is simply ridiculous
Bin Laden was there? 22:01 And what appears to be a German soldier in a trench? 22:25 WTF?
I hope they get paid even though they do it to be rescuers
You do dumb things these things happen when you choose badly.
I wish these egomaniacs would stop wasting taxpayers money rescuing them!
It’s so cool that you make money on death🤩🤩🤩
K2 is the real killer
