This is such a god damn fresh wind in the stale, boring, safe and same FPS market. It's fast, it's exciting, it's fluent, (it's brutal), it has many secrets and a big map to explore. I don't need some assface interrupt the action every 2 minutes to show me a boring cut scene about a boring plot, involving boring characters nobody cares about. I'd rather press F to beat someone to death with his own arm, then press F to "pay respect"
Could be more brutal and gory, honestly.

If anyone is still on the fence regarding this game, i honestly couldn't recommend it enough. even if you're up there thinking "oh it's another big stupid shooter game" you would be right, but it revels in that so hard and you feel like such a god damn monster while playing it that it comes right back around and becomes wonderful. So if you have the spare 40 quid, just jump in and do it, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Not to mention that there is a story, and it seems to be pretty fucking good.

That's what I was hinting at there. while a story does exist, it's optional. As you say the story is really about greedy humans tampering with things they couldn't control-shoot demon in the face and feel like a god while you do it.

Disable the windows update service from starting at all via System Configuration (yeah, that's what it's called, trust me, it's in your start menu just search for it). Then if you ever want to update just set up a weekly scheduled task to start windows update, run updates, and reboot.
The task scheduler is predictable, and takes very little CPU, and if you disable windows update from System Configuration not ever the service will start, saving you from the headache.
