Quick STOP Practice

Helping a student practice their quick stop technique. Remember for all quick stops you must keep the handle bars straight, keep your shoulders straight and keep your head and eyes UP - looking straight ahead as you brake . As you use both brakes at the same time you need to do a full progressive squeeze of the front brake - Firm, Firmer, Firmest - as well as at the same time using the rear bra...

  • @Larry_Mott
    @Larry_Mott 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I appreciate the video, however every modified stock exhaust i have heard in real life sounds bad, like a massively leaking or obnoxiously loud exhaust. The Agostini or Mistral have a entirely different character, more bassy and smooth sounding. However, again this is a great video for those hesitant or unable to push the boat out to a pair of Agostinis.

    Good video, always nice to see a creative, inexpensive mod like this. I have a '23 V7 Special Edition, and from what I've seen on YT, even the Arrow mufflers are too quiet. So I had the dealer install a set of Agostini full-length reverse cone mufflers with the dB killers removed, and they sound fantastic. 'Course they weren't cheap, but now the bike sounds like a Guzzi should. The good thing about the Ago mufflers is they don't have cats in them, like several other aftermarket mufflers do (i.e. Mistral). The way the OEM mufflers have those tiny exhaust tips is ridiculous, but I imagine we have the Euro5 and previous regulations to thank for that.

    At that speed, you could do those wide turns one handed while looking behind you... Riding for 20+ years.. there is no reason to exaggerate the lean like that. Low or High Speed.

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      By correcting her body position while cornering she is actually reducing the lean angle of the motorcycle. More lean = more risk. By getting her upper body off the side of the bike more and leaning into the inside the bike will remain more upright and the suspension will work better. By rotating your shoulders more the turn will be smother and you are less likely to run wide. Remember this is beginning level coaching for new riders, and i am building confidence in cornering by teaching correct body position, proper aiming and head turns , etc etc…. the speed of the practice session ie. 15-20mph in 2nd gear allows the student to focus on correct technique at an easily manageable speed. once they have good technique then the cornering speeds increase. I wish you continued safe riding.

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      when you tighten spokes you don’t usually have to remove the tire ! but if you have a broken spoke that needs replacement then yes you would need to use a sharp blade and cut a tiny piece of the sealant out to access the head of the spoke. Then add a blob of sealant after the spoke repair. I wish you continued safe riding.

Yes I am well aware that you can counter steer a bike at under 15mph - but for newbie riders (like those I was teaching) they learn the technique better at speeds at or above 15mph. Counter Balance and control are the most important for low speed turning. I suggest you read this book by Lee Parks. 'TOTAL CONTROL street riding techniques' and be a bit better informed. • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I ever have to remove the stem I would need to cut around the 3M sealant. This would not affect the sealant around the spoke heads. I have NEVER had to replace an actual stem - just the internal shradder valve. But my decision to add a little extra 3M sealant around the valve stem seal was just for an added seal and layer of protection against leaks. So far so good and no leaks - in a year + of riding on them. I wish you continued safe riding.

      @@ryanfoley2198 They are amazing machines! Best advice I can give you is for YOU to get off of the side of the bike more as you corner - that will reduce the necessary lean angle required, keeping the bike more upright and reduce the peg scraping. More lean = More risk. You'll actually carry more speed through the corners and have faster lap times. We are limited in lean angle simply by the size and design of these huge sport touring bikes - it is what it is .. because it is ! For extreme lean angles at the track I use my 2016 Yamaha R6. But, when you adjust the spokes, doesn't that break the seal?????

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's possible - but realistically how often have you adjusted your spokes ? Spoke adjustment involves tightening the spoke nuts on the outside of the rim. The spoke head on the inside of the rim is locked in place and shouldn't turn or spin as long as it isn't damaged... thus the sealant on top of that inner spoke head remains in place. But like I said I suppose you could break the sealant if the spoke breaks or your rim is so badly out of round that serious adjustment is required .... if anything the sealant will hold your flat spoke heads in place even better . I wish you continued safe riding.

      @@thebritonabike I always check the rim at every tire change. More often than not I need to adjust a few spokes to keep the rim true.

      I agree completely - the asphalt is pretty horrible in places with pot holes and cracks everywhere - it's supposed to simulate So.Cal canyon riding so in that respect it's pretty accurate .. LOL ! ... they do groom it but you have to watch for sand and gravel and tumble weeds that the desert seems to produce and throw at you regularly ! I wish you continued safe riding !

    A “high speed” instructional video, and this is supposed to be helpful?!? Even people with a photographic memory will have a problem with this! Why do it that way?!?

      My apologies if it ran too fast for you ... it is SUPER easy to assemble with very basic hand tools - just a few nuts and bolts - ratchet and tighten - and you are done. You can assemble it without putting the supplied bolts in the holes to check that everything aligns before you tighten it all up. ….I wish you continued safe riding.

      Probably longer than the life of the wheel .... ask me again in 10 years if the sealant is good .. except by then I probably won't own the bike. Suffice to say it is still good - with no leaks. I wish you continued safe riding!
