Kenya's Ezekiel Kemboi wins the Men's 3000m Steeplechase event in the Olympic Stadium at the London 2012 Olympic Games (5 August).
France's Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad won silver in the event with Kenya's Abel Kiprop Mutai winning bronze.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

The steeplechase is such a great event. You can really see the strain as some of the athletes struggle to get over the last few jumps. When you are giving it your all just to hold pace it is tough to come up with that little bit extra you need for the jump!

A tip for all, don't aim to be the pacer because you'll lose momentum because you're pressured among other things.Hence why you see the Kenyans for instance just take it easy and take off at the end.Converse energy.

+Aneya Florence don't be too arrogant "kuna kupanda na kushuka" just be thankful to God for giving our athlete's the ability and pray that the greatness continues. in short just be humble

Kiprop coming back from a trip to take 5th. Everyone behind him should have sat down and waited for the race to end.

Almost all forms of celebration at an Olympics are fine and highly deserved, but in my opinion running to the outside lane is a tad disrespectful to other competitors.

***** All the 8 lanes are legit to be run on and there's nothing wrong winning (finishing) on lane one or eight! That happens when you in shape if you are a runner.
