I just finished making this journal! This is what I chose to be my first ever journal, as I'm new to this craft. Oddly enough, sewing in the 5 signatures was the quickest and easiest part for me lol. I had a tougher time with the envelopes and situating the papers on and in them, but still enjoyed the learning process. Can't wait to make another of your journals!

I love these journals. I made a Tim Holtz Flip Flop and it was so fun. I originally saw it done by Diane at ShawCraft1. Hers was a Paris themed journal. Such fun.

I love this idea. I'm stuck in bed, far too long. But this is a project I can work on mostly in bed. I've collected envelopes from the mail. The ones I chose are the ones from the inside that you would return stuff in. Thinking about it, one could probably use the ones with windows also.
For the smaller outer two envelopes person, I was going to use two longer envelopes, but all mine were also taller. I didn't want to take the time to make that additional alteration. The alteration I did do was the following: I cut off 2 1/2 to 3 inches off one end. I closed that end odd with masking tape as I had no one to get my washi tape. I lightly folded, without creasing, the top so I could trace and cut the flap so both sides will match. I then proceeded from there. I only have the base done. I put the two cut offs in one of the smaller envelopes to use as pockets when I get that far.
Just a thought. I like using the intact envelopes on both the front and back. I guess I think I gives it a bit more strength, like a book cover. Just a thought.
Oh, just a side. My husband bought me a plant and put it in a paper bag with cute birds. Going to deconstruct the bag and use it for my background paper!

First time I made one of those was after seeing Eva (Bohemian crafting) make one I love it I made a mini one about size of ATC and I use it for shopping, one side I write shopping lists, other side I write online shopping info and I keep important receipts in the envelope pockets ❤ it is very useful x

Barbara, what a fantastic idea to follow. I commissioned a beautiful vintage journal from an artist on Etsy to fill with photos from my trip to Italy in 2017. However Lo and behold I found I could only fit Venice and Como photos in it! Now, thanks to this idea and your easy to follow tutorial, I can make as many of these as I may need for the rest of my adventures. And they won’t look out of place with the commissioned one. This will be my first attempt at actually making a journal from scratch. I think I can tackle this project, well at least finally actually make something rather than just SAVE videos…lol Thank you for your work behind the scenes to create these masterpieces. Love your work, Sweetheart.

Thanks! The clip was from one of the Your Creative Studio subscription boxes. For printing on vellum, just put the vellum in your printer and chose paper setting “other” or the closest setting you have on your printer. It will take longer to dry.
