I had the Sony XM5 headphones for the past 6 months or so. I recently bought the Bose QC headphones and I like the Bose QC a lot more than the Sony XM5. The XM5 have a weird narrow earpad shape in which the sides of my ears would start hurting after about 45 minutes. With the Bose QC, they are wide enough in the ears to where I have no discomfort ever, no matter how long I wear them. They are both very similar in sound quality, so the much extra comfort makes the QC a big winner over the XM5 for me. I may get a second pair of QC when their price drops again in a few months when a new model comes out.
I have been using the Sony XM5 headphones the past 6 months or so. After about 45 minutes, the sides of my ears would start hurting because of the very narrow earpad shape that is almost rectangular. I recently bought the Bose QC. The earpads on the QC are more egg-shaped, where the sides of my ears never touch the earpads. I have worn the QC for up to 8 hours in a day and there was no discomfort whatsoever. They are very light like the XM5 as well. Overall sound quality is very similar, in my opinion. The XM5 does have a better microphone, but I'm not using these much for phone calls. The much extra comfort of the QC makes them a big winner over the XM5 for me. I'm not sure who designed the earpad shape of the XM5 or if they only had people with very tiny ears try them during their early testing before production, but Sony should really consider changing the shape of their earpads.
The QC2023 lack of bass and passive sound made me return them and the studio pro earcups are so uncomfortable on my ears they felt like on-ear headphones instead of over the ear
Yeah Studio Pro comfort can be a hit or miss for some people, I personally don't have any issues with it. Interesting, to me the bass on the 2023 QCs is too elevated and boomy lol. Guess you can try the Sony XM4s or XM5s next!
@@wat5709have the XM4, they do sound better than the Bose. However, they get incredibly hot as the headphones squish against your ears and your ears sweat after about an hour or so. If the Sonys didnt overheat if the Sony didn’t overheat it would be a different story.
I so agree that music tastes are subjective when it comes to headphones. In the case of the Bose QC's I wonder if you have a defective set because the way you describe the excessive bass they have, I don't hear at all. Bose has increased the bass in their headphones but not so much as to ruin the experience when it comes to music. To me they have a balanced sound and of course you can always tweak the sound with the equalizer. For sure the sound is so much better than the Bose QC 35's which have no equalizer). I can't comment about the Ultra or the 700's but to me the QC's sound very good.
Yeah idk why the new Bose QC didn't work for me. I sold them already but if I tried them again who knows i might have a different reaction now 🤷♂️. Maybe I've just been used to listening to my IEMs. I am interested in trying the Ultra though, i saw them on sale during xmas sales and it was tempting
I just bought the Bose QC for $199. I’ve only owned one other pair of headphones I think they were the Beats by Dre or something. I liked them fine. I don’t know much about the sound features tbh but hearing you talk about the bass is making me question my purchase. I’m also concerned about the plasticky/cheap feel of the Bose headphones, what are your thoughts on that? If I return them I might just go for the Beats studio pro, since they’re cheaper. Also, great job on this video!
I wouldn't worry too much about the sound if you really personally enjoy it. I thought the new Bose QC were tuned worse than their previous Bose headphones, but a lot of people really like them. The Beats in my opinion feel more plasticky/cheap haha. They are more stiff feeling and not as flexible, and creak a lot. If possible, you could also buy the Beats and compare them and return the ones you don't like 😁
I'm not a basshead (I like bass but it has to be balanced and controlled), and I think the bass on the Studio Pros is more on the flatter side. It might be lacking a little bit of sub bass and would like a little more honestly. For the average bass lover, these won't give you that traditional beats, bass heavy sound.
Give it a shot! Might depend from phone to phone. I had an issue with AAC on my S20+ and now on my Fold 5. AAC just has this weird "splashy" distorted effect on the snares/high hats and I have to manually switch to SBC everytime I connect with the bose to eliminate that sound. You might not have that problem hopefully!
@@thekaydubz I mean AAC is the minimum codec that needs to be supported and for the price point they should also support LDAC or other codecs. Changing it to basic SBC is a step backwards. But anyways if I don't like it, I will go for the XM5s since they are at the same price range in the place I live.
I bought the beats a week ago and I just bought the Bose QC today to compare them. One thing I can tell right away is the Bose feels lighter and more comfortable to my ears/head. I will use them for 2-3 more weeks and decide which one to keep.
I just returned Bose QC. This generation‘s V-shaped tune was not suitable for my taste. Beats SP’s balanced sound got me. I also get extra feature like a spacial sound with Apple TV and it was $60 cheaper as well. Bose QC was better with noise cancelling and was comfortable to wear though.
@ my beat studio pros just got delivered now, the music slaps in them for sure. The top part of the headband that sits on your head is a lil tight pushing in the head but I feel like I’ll get used to it, cause the Bose you never feel the headphones on your head at all which I love. But they are both great headphones
Have both, the Beats are good, the Bose are so much more comfortable and sound great they both sound great
do the beats clamp on the ears hard? i couild not were the solo pro they were clamping so hard
Thanks - had the Beats before and they were so uncomfortable. I'll get the Bose. Black Friday deals are pretty impressive right now.

QC live up to their name
Really helpful video, covering lots of important and helpful criteria. Thank you!! 🙂
Costco has the Bose QC SC for $169. I wear glasses, Bose it is, thanks for the tip!

Hi. Thanks for review. Does Beats Studio bro have enough bass? Lot of people criticize them for this point

Well I ordered the Quiet Comfort not knowing about the Samsung issue with AAC codec. Let's see if they are really bad in this codec.

Yeah LDAC solves all my problems, unfortunately these 2 don't have them which is a big bummer for me 😕
Use Bose QC with Samsung OLED tablet every day and have no issues

Gimmicky because it only works on iOS?

Bose QC’s are extremely comfortable
Just went in and tested both of them and left with the bose. The beats sound distant and no bass even on the heavy bass songs I tested.
Enjoy!
So in terms of sound who do you give the win to?
Surprisingly, I prefer the Beats. If you want loads of bass then the Bose QC is the one you want. Bose and Beats have kinda switched roles here.
